    Post-Op Thrush?

It's most likely caused by the antibiotics. Making sure you take probiotics after surgery. It's good for gut health and to avoid thrush. I thought I was getting something after surgery but took my probiotics and it went away and all was good.

    Nausea

I had nausea during week 3 for about 3-4 days. I took some gravol and it helped and the next day it was gone. Was my time of the month, don't know if that was a coincidence? I'll make a note of it for next month. Things seems to change daily on this journey! Hope you are feeling better! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Nausea

3 weeks out and this week I'm so nauseated. I get rumblings in my stomach sometimes like I'm hungry but it's nausea that tells me I need to eat. Carbs is the only thing that makes it go away but I'm trying not to eat carbs and it's not the right kind of carbs that I'm able to get down. Anyone else experiencing this? Does it go away? It's like I'm pregnant all over again and I can't live like this forever. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I hate the way it feels to eat

I'm 3 weeks out and also had surgery in Tijuana. Eating is hard. I don't feel great and it can cause pains in my chest. Eat as slowly as possible! I only get in 1/4 cup maybe. Probably more like 1/8. I'm still relying on shakes and broth. I think it's okay short term. Takes time to heal and you don't want to force anything. Make sure you are getting some vitamins in the meantime. I was taking some greens (gross green powder mixed with juice or water for added vitamins, but I'm nauseated at the moment so can't stomach it). I tried eggs too. Epic fail. Soups are ok. I had tuna and miracle whip too which went down ok but I didn't feel great after but I'm not sure the two are related though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Nausea

I'm still taking the two things my doctors said to take for 28 days. I hadn't thought of gravol though, I will try that. The last few days I've not been able to drink much water. Protein shake and broth seems the best option. Broth helps the nausea in the morning though. Maybe it's the warmth that settles my stomach. Really hope this doesn't last! 9. People get used to you being the fat one and feel better about themselves when around you so if you all of a sudden look great they don't know how to feel or deal with that. I've been on both sides. I get it. But to not be friends with someone because of it!? There are some serious issue going on there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I lost a lot of weight about 15 years ago (75lbs) and people def treat you differently. I had a lot of male attention suddenly (which freaked me out and I gained 10 back). My ex's best friend who was always rude and unkind to me was suddenly nice and treated me with respect. I also realized I deserved more and better and eventually ended my marriage. I'm a lot wiser now so I'm not afraid of my life imploding again and I'm in a happier more stable relationship but I do think all of those life events got me to gain it back and then some and then afraid to lose it again. I had one "compliment" that I hated the most. "Wow you look great. You look like a completely different person!" Um thanks? So I don't look forward to the comments again but I'm older now and know I can handle it differently. Beautiful people have a nicer life. People go out of their way to be nice to good looking people and some people cannot see past fat to see beauty. So be prepared for it, stay grounded and remember who you are. Eventually it will all calm down and return to normal. A new normal. I also had a friend say "what, are you going to get thinner than me now?" I was sad that she wasn't supportive but we were in our late 20's, this time round I hope for more maturity. I understand the jealousy, I've felt it when friends lose weight but I have the good sense to keep my mouth shut. [emoji2] it will all be worth it in the end. Right? I'm only 3 weeks in so no ones noticed my weight loss yet but will be interested to see what difference 15 years make to people's reaction. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. I just got sleeve on feb 3 at the Oasis of Hope hospital with Dr. Jaime ponce de Leon. It's a small but lovely hospital. The driver accidentally took me to the INT hospital first and I'm glad I paid a bit extra for the Oasis. Staff were all lovely. Hospital was clean. I felt totally safe. Nothing dodgy about it. Before I knew it tests were taken, the same questions asked multiple times (so thorough), spoke briefly with the dr through his interpreter and junior doctor, as he doesn't speak much English. I waited a bit and then off I went to the OR. Next thing I knew I was awake. I had bad gas in my chest but not everyone does so depends on your body. The gas pain was the worst thing about my experience. Everything else went well. My incisions are healing nicely, day 5 after surgery was hard but woke up a new person on day 6. Things can turn on a dime in this journey. I went through a woman named Deborah who is lovely and helpful and will answer your questions anytime of day or night. Procedure cost $6k American, plus flight and I spent a bit tipping drivers and bought some meds there for just under $40. I spent 2 nights at hospital and one night at hotel. I could have gone to a cheaper place (clinic) and been treated like sheep lining up to be sheared but I paid more, had a great surgeon and hospital team, felt taken care of and special and to me that was worth it as I travelled there alone. If i required aftercare I'm sure I could get it through Debrah but I haven't needed anything. I thought the surgeon would visit me after to see how I was but he didn't. But it was fine as the other staff were lovely and the junior doctor who spoke English well (and studied in Kelowna) was there often and even took me on a little tour of Roserita and then back to the hotel. I would recommend the hospital and the staff 100%. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
