  1. I have BLBC and I see my surgeon on Wednesday this week and then they are submitting my claim. I will let you know!
  2. Just checking in on you. Hope you are well.
  3. Sounds like we are close in the process. Everything is done for me. I have my final surgeon appointment on April 26th. They will submit to insurance from there and then give me a surgery date. I have a three year old who is my tiny baby still and I'm going to miss picking her up for 6 weeks!
  4. Fort Myers area here. How far along are you? Post op?
  5. Where are you in Florida? I'm in Florida. I'm not getting my surgery until next month.
  6. I'm literally going through exact same thing. My insurance requirements are all done and tired in a neat little bow. My surgeon was booked with appointments until April 26th. I have to meet with him before they will send to insurance. Then I have to wait for insurance approval and then wait again for a surgery date. [emoji24]
  7. I had my scope yesterday and have a 4cm hiatal hernia, severe GERD. I didn't take my meds yesterday before the procedure. During the procedure I refluxed acid in to my lungs. It was misery. I now know for sure, I'm getting gastric bypass and not sleeve.
  8. This is exactly what has happened to me. I'm glad to hear you haven't had any dumping. This is a fear of mine. How much weight have you lost in 5 months?
  9. I have been dead set on getting the sleeve. I'm set to have surgery next month and I decided last week to go with roux en y. I have GERD and it seems this is the better option. I was pretty upset at first but I'm feeling better about it everyday. Did anyone else set their heart on sleeve and then switch to bypass? Are you happy you did so or wish you stuck with Sleeve?
  10. Beautiful! Such an inspiration!!
  11. I'm having my surgery next month but I have decided against Sleeve and am now getting Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
  12. How are you doing? Have you seen another doctor?
  13. I was all set for sleeve as well. At my appointment last week they told me that since October, they have had 2 patiences that have had to have their surgeries revised to Bypass because their mild GERD went to severe. That was enough for me to start to change my mind. I don't want dumping and was looking forward to an easier surgery but I keep thinking how great it would be to never have heartburn and reflux again. I'm also very scared but I think I'm changing to the bypass. I also have around 100 pounds to lose. When do you think you will have it??
  14. I have BCBS and I was told that it has to be six consecutive months of meeting with a doctor or Registered dietician. At the appointment the doctor/RD has to record your weight and blood pressure. They also have to supply notes from each visit of what diet and nutrition they discussed with you. My endocrinologist did this for me for 2 months and then I switched to a Bariatric nutritionist.
  15. I was really nervous my PCP would not agree to write a letter. So I went to see her prepared. I wrote a sample letter for her, also put it on a flash drive and brought it to my visit. I brought all of information from Bariatric doctor as well. I didn't ask for her permission. I came in and said, "I have been seeing a Bariatric doctor for several months, I have also been seeing a Nutritionist for several months and we all agree that my health would greatly benefit from gastric sleeve. I don't want to be overweight and I don't want to be on HBP meds anymore. I want all of my doctors to be aware that I am getting this procedure and more importantly, I want your support. My endocrinologist, gastronologist, and OBGYN have all written letters supporting me to make this journey easier on me. I know you are busy, so I have a sample letter on a flash drive for you. You can simply print it on your letterhead and sign if that's easiest." She said wow, you have done a lot of research. Then all the questions that she asked were questions about my surgeon and hospital. She wanted to make sure I was t going to a shady doctor. She told me she was happy I chose his facility and happily wrote her own letter for me. Her letter was awesome, she even wrote in the letter that she never had a patient that's she was so sure would be successful with surgery and would benefit from long term effects. It was great.
  16. This is so scary! Praying for you! Please keep us updated.
  17. You are exactly where I am! All of my stuff is done. I just have my final appointments with the surgeon. I'm hoping to get my insurance submitted April 1st and then get a date from there!
  18. When do you think you will get your surgery date?
  19. No date yet. All my paperwork is in. I have my endoscopy in two weeks and then meeting with surgery. My paperwork would be ready for submission on April 1st, so hoping not to long after. I'm curious to meet someone with experience with Tampa general and find out how long it takes to scheduled for surgery once the insurance approves.
  20. My surgery won't be until April but I would love to hear about all the Florida ppl experiences and how they are doing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
