  1. Eating 4-6oz, cottage cheese, yogurt, soups, etc.
  2. Banded 4/7, lost 11 pounds so far but I find I am getting less full from the small portions. anyone else getting hungry one week out? The doctor at the hospital said I should try to get 70 - 90 grams of protein... I don't see how this is posible on these small portions? Unless my entire day is protein shakes at 30g each...
  3. I was very week for the first few days untill I got some Cals in me. I started drinking gatorade and that helped. Also egg drop soup, runny cream of wheat, cotege cheese and other high protein food. But yes getting the cals to 4-500 made me feel better and I am still losing a pound a day at this point.
  4. If it is burning around the band I would call the doctor ASAP
  5. good news on the nausia is it hit me in one 24 hour streatch. after that I have been good. The cause I beleive was gas and the solution is getting the gas out of your system (yes farting makes you feel better) also try chewable gasX pills they helped. The only other thing that made me feel better was not to get adventurouse with the food and stick to small portions (4oz). Now I feel great.
  6. good luck... 3 days out I have not been hungry at all or thirsty. all I had today was a 100 cal protein shake, 4oz of egg drop soup and 4oz of yogurt. That is probably 300 cal and I didn't even want that. yesterday I had less. I have been having trouble dringking enough water as well.
  7. Anyone else having nausia. I was fine till last night but I started getting crazzy nautious every time I moved. I think it was gas maybe but it sucked. any thoughts?
  8. I am sorry you are haveing a rough time, I think we all heal differently and handle pain in our own way, but I am sure it will pass. Try not to freak. I freaked out the day of surgery before hand but all is well now.
  9. I am actualy feeling fairly good at this point 48 hours out, still sore but no pain meds. The hospital stay is the same as it always is. I would recomend trying to get some sleep the day before. I don't know about anyone else but the nurses keep comming in every hour to poke prod etc. Good luck, James
  10. Are you eating anything? any nausia?
  11. just got back from the hospital, had the surge yesterday at 10:30am. I am tired and sore but overall things went well. They have me on a liquid diet today, protein shakes tomorrow then on to thin pures. Pain is tolerable, I am not on any pain killers (though I have if I need).
  12. I have to show up at 8:00am tomorrow. I have been on clear liquids today which sucked, nothing after midnight. I am nervious. hope its the right choice. I went shopping for food with my wife today to a great market and started thinking and I going to miss all the fun of eating and cooking.... anyway... 18 hours and counting.
  13. do you think we get weighed in at the hospital so we have an official starting weight? How long are people taking off from work? I am taking a week. Hope it is enough.
  14. looks like I am first, just got my time 10:30 EDT... you guys nervous?
  15. it continues after surgery... unfortunatly.
  16. I am being banded on Monday, in NYC anyone else out there? The count down is on
  17. I am and thought I would start a thread for that group. I am being banded in NYC on Monday.
  18. very informative posts, thanks. Glad to know the wait will be short. One thing I can't live without for long.
  19. I feel that most of my social life is based around meals, going out to dinner with friends, Bars etc. did anyone find that the band killed their relationships with friends and such? What about family holidays? I am being banded on 4/7 and wonder how I will feel for Passover which starts on the 18th and involves lots of food.... though matzaball soup probably works.
  20. Just curious, so ahhh, I was wondering, how long did people wait to get back in the saddle after surgery? I am being banded on 4/7. I am a guy so the male prospective would be helpful.
  21. Thanks, glad to know others are as squeamish of surgery and recovery as I am.
  22. so I am scheduled for April 7th and just filled out the final approval paperwork where it lists 10 pages of potential complications. It kinda freaked me out... In the end how do you know this is the right thing to do? I am 5'6" and 300lb its logical to take this step but still freaked by surgery...
  23. how long was your stay in the hospital? 1 night?
  24. I am having the banding on 4/7 and would be interested in getting peoples thoughts on good postop diets. What worked what did not work. I am nervouse about the whole thing and starting a preop diet tomorrow. Any advice? Any good tricks for making the diet work in the workplace?
