  1. My nutritionist was different. I am allowed to have coffee after surgery & she suggested to add protein in it (Premier as creamer or a protein powder). This is my 6th week post-op, I can't drink a whole cup of coffee but espresso shots I can handle since they're small. I put a little Premier & half & half in mine. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. 2. I'm 6 weeks post-op & was able to gulp my water in my 5th week. From reading these boards & following other WLS patients, everyone experiences their weight loss differently. A few of us can still gulp while it makes others sick. Personally, it's the opposite for me. Sipping makes me sick. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  3. It's totally normal especially if you're on liquids only post-op. Your body is still healing & we're not eating real food. I'm almost 6-weeks post off & still tired but not like when I was on liquids only. I think in time when our bodies fully heal & when we can eat more normally, our energy level should be back or even better than ever. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  4. You're lucky you don't have those side effects. I feel it & I'm almost 6-weeks post op. My biggest fear is not knowing when to stop. In my opinion, I think you should measure your food just so you know you're not over eating & so you won't go back to how it was before surgery. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  5. During the liquid phase I had that full feeling once. I went to a restaurant that served broth & it was over my amount suggested by my nutritionist (4 oz) & my stomach could not handle another sip. I almost gagged. I believe you'll feel it more in the puree phase & after, since it's more solids than liquids. My suggested amount is 4oz a meal & I only ate like 1 oz of fat free refried beans. That full feeling for me kinda hurt at first & all I wanted to do was lay down after I was full. Like one of the posters said, it feels like crap. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  6. It got clumpy because you put it in too soon. The soup has to cool down a certain temperature (I don't remember what temperature) before you add the protein. You should talk to your nutritionist if none of the suggestions on this forum works for you. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  7. I love this comment. Summer is coming up & my favorite thing to drink was a root beer float. I'll ask for a diet root beer float. I gotta admit, I miss my carbonated drinks. Beer is another summer favorite of mine. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). 8. I'm a month & a week post-op. The pain & life changes to how you eat & what you can not eat along with dealing with school & work made me emotional the first month. But I never lashed out like that. It sounds like your friend has deeper rooted issues & took them out on you. She wasn't a friend to begin with if she can't be mutually supportive to you too. Sometimes, friendships just end no matter how long you've known someone. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  9. Oh wow! I'm glad my post-op Clear liquids wasn't as restrictive as yours. Sorry to hear that. You can chew on sugar free popsickes ice cubes & while you make it yourself add beneprotein. You need to hit your protein goals so you don't starve. Get creative with the soups, there are protein soups from Optifast & unjury. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  10. So good to know. I'm going in an all inclusive vay-cay in May. Pre-surgery I'd drink all day too. It's nice to see someone else can tolerate it. 2 glasses is really good. I was expecting to read 1/2 glass of alcohol. I can't wait! [emoji16] Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). 11. I tried a sip of Diet Coke, crispy, cold, in a bottle. So refreshing pre-surgery. I tried a sip & I lost the taste for Diet Coke. It tasted gross to me. Luckily my stomach didn't react to the carbonation. I haven't tried a chicken Nugget yet & frankly, don't care anymore about it. I lost 35 lbs since my consultation & that is my motivation. I don't want to ruin it now for head hunger. I still have 40 lbs to go. The results keep me motivated. It's crazy how I lost taste for so many things, including my obsession for coffee. I lost the taste for that too. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  12. You ladies are lucky. I have really thick hair & one month & a week into this, I haven't lost hair. And I'm off & on with reaching my protein goals. No biotin. It's refreshing to see it doesn't happen to everyone. I hope I'll be like you ladies & not lose hair. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  13. My nutritionist told me eating sugar free jello & pudding helps with that hungry feeling. Also, yogurt & Fat Free or 1% milk with protein. Also, sugar free popsicles , cut them up in cubes & chew them. When I went through liquids only fat free cream of chicken with protein helped me with hunger since it's savory. I got tired of the sweet stuff. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  14. I reached my goal a few days early. I'm officially 180.8 today. I'm shocked & happy! Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 180.8 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  15. My hair is thick. After reading everyone else's posts, I'm so scared of the hair loss. It's amazing how our bodies change so much after surgery. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. 16. I meant 8 weeks altogether. 2-weeks pre-op liquid diet, 4-weeks liquid only post-op, 1 week on week 5 post op puree, & now soft foods week 6 post op tomorrow for 1 week. After writing this post, I realize I'm so stressed out with work & school. I wonder if it's an emotional issue not related to the sleeve. Before the sleeve food was my comfort for stress. I like your analogy about almost being like a recovering alcoholic, it could be that too. Since the hunger hormone (gherlin) is removed, I thought this would stop. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  17. I'm a month out. If I go 3-4 hours without eating my body tells me it's time so I have to grab a protein drink or food. I don't know if it's because I'm freshly off surgery but lately I've been so stressed out at work & school so the head hunger is kicking in. I think that's more emotional that doesn't have to do with the sleeve. The first 3 weeks, I wasn't that hungry but I think it's because I was swollen & healing. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  18. My doctor didn't give me a specific number. He just told me to aim for a healthy BMI. I found a chart with my sex, age, height, & weight so the info in my signature is my goal. To me it looks high, but once I reach that goal, I'll decide if I want to lose more. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  19. To me, it depends on your body type. I'm short & muscular. I haven't worked out yet since I'm only a month post-op & my Doctor & Nurse said I can't lift or do strenuous activity for 6-weeks. Prior to the sleeve I dieted & exercised all the time but couldn't take or keep the weight off. I noticed every time I exercised I gained (on the scale). I could feel the muscle under my fat & to me, I felt like I looked like a football player - short & muscular. I believe working out has different responses or results for everyone. I stick to walking for now but when I go back to the gym I will do light weights. Light weights with a lot of reps burn the fat more than pumping your muscles with heavy weights. Research your body type & what workouts suit you for weight loss & fitness. For the mean time good job on the weight loss & fitness. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  20. I'm a month & a few days post-op. This week, I'm on the puree phase. Since yesterday I've been craving Diet Coke & McDonald's Chicken McNuggets. I know both aren't good for me. I'm not pregnant (of course not, not allowed to be this early) & my menstrual cycle doesn't start for another 2-weeks. I haven't cheated my entire process pre & post-op. When did your head hunger stop? After almost 8-weeks of surgery dieting, I'm shocked I still have cravings. It comes & goes but I'm hoping since I'm transitioning to soft foods next week that I won't screw up & go back to my old ways. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  21. This is my week for puree stage. I do well on the beans although it fills me up very quick. I can't stomach scrambled eggs but I do well with deviled eggs & mashed hard boil eggs. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. 22. You're kind of lucky. Altogether I had 6 weeks of clear liquids. I know Puree is a bit boring but it beats drinking nasty shakes all day everyday for over a month. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  23. What helped me when I was hungry during the liquid diet phase was something that made me feel like I was actually eating & not just drinking. Jello, pudding, yogurt (I'm not a yogurt fan though), & chewing on sugar free popsicles (I put them in small ice cube trays). It's tough, I was so hungry the 3rd week but did want to risk breaking a staple so I didn't cheat. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  24. Wow, 5 weeks? Can I ask why? I got the sleeve & only have to be in Puree for a week in week 4 post-op. Congrats to you for hanging in there. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
  25. @PatientEleventlyBillion I watched the Bernie Sanders & Ted Cruz debate about healthcare & all Ted said was government should run our health care since he totally opposes it. I don't get why we're the only civilized country without it. I rather our tax money go to that than war. Thanks for this good convo. I admire how Canada & other countries handle Universal Health Care. Height: 5'0" Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs. Surgery date: 2/13/17 Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs). Current weight: 185.2 My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.
