UPDATE - I got an email from my surgeon today. he is on vacation and thats why I couldnt get a hold of him at his office. He says I DO NOT NEED the pre op diet! This is fantastic. thanks for the support everyone!

Thank you for your replies. I am going to talk to him this week when i stop in his offices to pick up the Protein shakes. Maybe he will be able to better lay out what I can have during the pre op diet. but if all I can have are the shakes and Water, then that is all I will have. I certainly do NOT want to be denied the surgery due to my liver being too fatty. I can only imagine how it looks right now. I do work, Mon - Fri 10am to 4pm. I work with a bunch of guys all younger than me. My boss is 23 and everyone is really supportive of what I am doing so that will help. I live with my boyfriend and he said that he will do the fist few days with me till i get used to it. he cant do anymore than that cause he is too skinny as it is. thanks again everyone, I just needed the reassurance that i can do it and that I will get through it.

Hi everyone!! I start my pre op diet on Friday, and my surgery is scheduled for Jam 16th. I am so worried about the liquid diet. I am allowed three shakes a day for two weeks and all the Water I can drink. I just know I am going to be starving. If I drink a slim fast shake (optima) I am starving 15 minutes later. I am just so scared I will cheat and my surgery will be postponed. Why does my surgeon have to have such a strict preop diet? If I was allowed even Soup broth I would feel so much more comfortable about this.

I have my pro op appointment on the 9th. I havent been told my my surgeon or my nutritionist what I can and cannot have on the pro op diet. Surgery is on the 16th of Jan so i am hoping to hear back from them soon cause I am clueless.

My name is Tara and I live in Orange County, CA. I have been going back and forth between doctors and getting my clearance for the lap band since June! And I finally got my surgery date!!! January 16th!! What a way to start the new year! I am incredibly excited, although the liquid diet is scaring the crap out of me. My surgeon is Dr. Sami Hamamji. I weigh about 265 pounds right now and hope to get down to about 150. Oh, and I am 27. =)

I don;t have a specific date yet, but considering I went to the cardiologist today for my initial exam for my medical clearance and scheduled my stress test for the 19th of this month, I am pretty sure my surgery will now be in the beginning to mid July. WooHoo!!

OH! I actualy LOVE chocolate slim fast shakes! I wouldn't mind being put on those at all. (of course, I can say that now...lol) Actually, Dr. Niccole of CosmetiCare in Newport Beach is my father's plastic surgeon. My father is paying for the surgery for me. It was actually his idea. I guess Dr. Irani is going to be working with CosmetiCare as well now. I am very lucky.

Yay! Another OC LapBander! How long do you have top drink shakes for? I am so worried about the liquid diet part. I love my food (and thats prob why I am getting lapband in the first place...lol)

Hello! I finally have the date set for my first appointment with Dr. Hormuz Irani at CosmetiCare in Newport Beach, CA on May 16th. I am super excited! Dr. Irani usually practices in Bakersfield, CA but will be coming to CosmediCare to perform Lap Band procedures. Has anyone ever been treated by him before?
