  1. You're really inspiring! I will have just the same amount to lose with the help of my surgery and your achievement is amazing. Let's me know what I'll be working for. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  2. I know this post is old, and I'm very glad everything is ok. Congratulations on the baby/toddler, now! I hope my question doesn't come off rude or harsh, and please correct me if I'm way off base. Isn't it possible that the OP abused her sleeve by alternating Water and food, nearly chugging water, fried cheese, concession stand corn chip and artificial cheese food? The statement is that the surgery was almost a regret, but why wasn't the behavior regretted? Is it usually ok to have slip ups or be caught in a jam and not be able to eat the perfect diet and have nothing go wrong? Or is the sleeve really very sensitive and slip ups equal complications? I just know I'm going to feel the need to drink lots of water at some point, but I'm nervous now that I risk causing a leak. I'm sort of worried I won't have the willpower to not do things I shouldn't. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    2 days Post-Op Question

It's specifically the petroleum in lip balm that further dries out your lips so stay away from Vaseline. Any petroleum/petrolatum-free balm will be fine and stop the cycle of endless dehydration/rehydration. Lips are a very good indicator or hydration status, but for the first week it will be due to the surgery. (Your lips probably got really dried out during the procedure.) Can I lie - hernia op?

I'm wondering what to say to my coworkers also. I'm an RN on a med/surg floor, so I'm going to take a full 6-8 weeks off before going back to work. From what I'm reading I could have lost 20-40lbs by then. I have already told my managers, and while they said I don't need to tell anyone anything, I'm not sure exactly what I would say. I'm a new nurse anyway and I don't need hassle about WLS to give me stress. Also, I don't want to come off like I'm lying to everyone and being an a-hole if I tell them I'm losing the weight with diet and exercise. (I guess technically I will be losing with diet and exercise, with a side of surgery.) Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
