  1. it appears as though the messages have been changed to not show any previous messages, so we are blindly answering what we don't know we're being asked. Or is the option hiding somewhere?
  2. Absolutely. I'm at 4 weeks post op and have lost steadily.
  3. Don't forget to take measurements too! Sometimes th scale betrays what is happening in our bodies.
  4. This might sounds strange but I just put almost anything I was craving into a blender- 7 layer dip, clam chowder, white bean and ham stew, turkey/potatoes/gravy, etc. I added broth and GENEPRO to everything and it was so much better than boring shakes or standard soups!

    Protein recommendations!

I know many have said it before, but I would be lost without GENEPRO. I put it in everything I eat. You won't regret it!

    Protein and thank you!

Always so great to get tips and hints. Thanks for sharing!

    Tomorrow

Walk walk walk, sip, sip, sip! I have mine in a few days and that's the advice I hear over and over- as soon as you can, walk, even if it feels a bit uncomfortable. Sip as often as you can to avoid dehydration. You got this!

I'm pretty new here too, but it's been a great resource. My surgery is on the 25th; glad to hear yours went well!

    Pity

I haven't had my surgery yet and my friends and family already feel sorry for me- it's so frustrating trying to explain to my genetically-blessed-with-thinness family members that I'd prefer they pity me for my new self-empowered life than pity me for being the only fat one.
  10. Hi Greg, Learning the information from 2 different surgeons and reading on here about the pre-op diet, there sure are a lot of differences! Yours sounds like the toughest, but you're tougher... you've helped people at their absolute worst, so you know you have it in you to help you too! My surgery is on the 25th and I have full blown panic sessions. I'm a control freak and afraid of the unknown so the fact that I don't know exactly how my life will look, for the rest of my life, freaks me out. Reading and hearing about others' experiences helps, but only a little! I also hate the idea of being put under (probably a control thing, haha); I've had 4 knee surgeries and stayed awake for all of them. I asked my surgeon if this was possible and his response was "Well that's one I've never heard before".
  11. I was just approved yesterday to use it medically to help me sleep, and the nurse told me that she recommends using a vaporizer. I smoked a lot of it in high school but that was a long time ago (and for different reasons, haha). It actually never occurred to me to ask any of these questions so thanks for asking them!

You can do it! Those 4 days will fly by!

@@theantichick The Popsicle idea is so great! I ordered the sample pack as well- I've tried the grape (not delicious), lemonade (ok), and fuzzy navel (amaze-balls). I don't even like peach drinks but this was SO good. I think I could drink it every day. @@giraffesmom I didn't get any sort of confirmation either. I didn't check my credit card to see if I was charged though, which I'm ok with! Hah.
  14. Hi, Next year is a big year for many of my friends and I- we turn 40! I just got an email about a 40th birthday celebration in Las Vegas, and so far the date is exactly 2 weeks after my VSG surgery. Best case scenario, I will be starting on the soft solid foods at that point. What are your thoughts on this type of trip 2 weeks after the surgery? I have a pretty high pain tolerance (I've had 4 knee surgeries and lots of soccer injuries), but if I'm going to be throwing up all the time, that won't be any fun. So... thoughts, and thanks!
  15. @@nicktol Thanks! Would love to hear about how you're feeling.
  16. I have my VSG booked for next month; from the general research I've done and from what my surgeon says, WLS is a good solution for the uncontrolled weight gain, even though it's hormonal. I know everyone's journey is different, but are there any women with PCOS who have WLS success stories you'd be willing to share? I'm very nervous that I will do this serious surgery and it won't work, even if I do everything right. I'm so tired of gaining weight, though, and I need to get ahead of it before it gets totally out of control. Thanks in advance for sharing your stories with me!
  17. @KWeilbrenner0 good luck! Will be thinking of you.
  18. @spowell@chabronda Those sound like pretty great results so far! Thanks for sharing, and I would love to hear how things continue to go for both of you. @DaniVSG- I have a number of things that make me a bit nervous too. My surgery is at the end of January, we can go through it together!
  19. @@KristinJ78 That kindof sounds awful! You poor thing! @bodyslmmn@Lady DT - The surgeon said it's fine to go, the flight is just over 2 hours, but thanks for looking out for me!
  20. Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the thoughtful insight. @CherCare- in normal circumstances it wouldn't be an issue to postpone, however this is a surprise trip for one of my friends birthdays that her husband is organizing, so pushing it back probably won't happen. Oh... and I feel like an absolute idiot but I just realized... we don't turn 40 this year. Geez Louise. Apparently my mind is going already? Hahaha!
  21. Thanks for the feedback so far; My friends do know about the surgery- I've not been one who's been embarrassed to tell my friends and family about it. We're all really close so I'm sure that I could find someone to carry my bag for me when it needs to be lifted! Deeveg, those are all very good points to bear in mind. I don't need to decide right away, they will be looking at flights after Christmas or even into the new year to get the best prices, so I've got a bit of time to think. Maybe I'll just lie by the pool and drink Protein shakes! All feedback is appreciated.
