  6. yes she is overweight too.. just like me. she has been taking some suppressants to get her weight down as well. my sister is over weight too but now she lost 50lbs over a year by being dedicated 5 times a week in the gym for a whole year. she looks good but she has no kids so she can get up & go whenever she please.. see me, I cant do that. & yes I have lost 35 lbs earlier this year & gained 50 back within 7 months. I just feel like this surgery will be a good jump for me to start over and push me to be & eat healthier.
  7. Hello all! Short Story... I went to my families house for Christmas & I was discussing with my Aunt & Sister how I was getting the Sleeve in 2017. They were both against it, saying i should try naturally & I need to get physically in the gym.. I was letting all of that go in one ear & out the other, until my Aunt said 3 of her friends gotten gastric surgeries done & all have gained their weight back plus more.. now if she would have said at least 1 gained their weight back, okay cool. But she said all 3. Is it possible to just gain the weight back like that after losing that tremendous amount? Im curious after that conversation..
  8. @@BubblesOhSoSleeved What in the world is taking soo long with them? How long has it been since they received your documentation?
  9. im in Houston Texas too! Good Luck

  13. To all of my vets!! Did anyone have to get a tummy tuck after a huge amount of weight loss? If so, did your insurance cover it, As it being Medically Necessary? I know some people said they snapped back without a tummy tuck and others had very loose skin.

  16. @@kell911 so I cant start to get these things done before I see my surgeon for the first time? also I read that I have to get a clearance from a PCP, Cardiologist, Pulmonologist. Do I really have to see all of those doctors?? & do you know if its best to see your PCP or Weight Watchers for the supervised weight loss program?
  17. Oh my goodnessssss, you look amazingggggggggggggg hun!!!! You are my motivation.
  18. I asked my insurance plan to send me the details on the requirements for bariatric services because over the phone, all they told me was that I needed to be enrolled in a 3 month weight loss program but the details said more then that. I have 12 things to check off on. Can I start going to some of these other doctors to get clearance before my consultation with the surgeon? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. oh wow! so it took you approximately 5 months to do the surgery from the consultation? Was that because you wanted to wait it out or you had to wait longer the 90 days. Only reason why Im asking is because I have my first appointment with the surgeon on Jan 18th.. 90 days from there will be the end part of april. I was guessing to have my surgery in May. or does it not work like that?
  20. 3 Phone calls? that's not bad. I seen some people had to go in the office to speak with a nutritionist.
  21. Okay, so I called my insurance company to see if there are any requirements that I may need to do before surgery since I have been reading on this forum that a lot of insurance companies has requirements. So my insurance company told me that I have to do a 90 day supervised diet program before approval. Do anybody know what those 90 days consist of? and I also seen people have a list of things to do before the surgery is even scheduled.. is that what your surgeon wants or the insurance company?
  22. I attended a seminar last week & they called me right afterwards and told me that my insurance covered bariatric surgery. I have my first consultation on Jan 18 & im more nervous then excited! I contacted my insurance company to see are their any requirements before approval and she stated there is a 90 day supervised diet program before approval. I cant wait!
  23. If you don't mind me asking.. what were the list of the requirements that the surgeon gave you? I have my first appointment the 2nd week in Jan..
  24. Thank you soo much for your response. I contacted my insurance plan this morning and she did assure me that it will be 100% covered & that there is a 3 month medically supervised weight diet requirement. Which is okay with me!!!! Im looking to get the gastric sleeve. After doing my research, it seems like a lot of people have great outcomes with that specific procedure.
