  1. Oops! Haven't posted on here yet. So on Jan 2 I was 275.3. Had a balloon put in on Jan. 12. As of today, my weight is 255.6!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Hello everyone, I'm new here and getting ready for an Orbera procedure on January 12. I'm nervous, excited and a bunch of other emotions about this whole thing. I'm also trying to find a good Protein source (the idea of pureeing meat is just gross to me). What Protein shakes or powders have you found to be best? What should I be stocking my kitchen/fridge with? I got a Nutrabullet for an early Christmas present to help me make smoothies to drink/eat. Anyone else have one of these? Just trying to get everything in order before the big day. Also, one of the things I have been thinking about is what my relationship with food will be during and after this is all over. My family has always been very food-oriented. Not obsessed just we enjoy food. I'm worried that after this, I will no longer love eating. Like it will just become a mundane function that I will get no joy out of. Did any of you have those feelings? How did you deal with them?

It will get better. I have an Orbera and it took me until about Day 6 to start feeling better. Did you doc give you any meds for sromach cramping? The kind that dissolves under your tongue? Those helped me a lot with the cramping Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks everyone. Wow. It been an eventful few days. The hospital experience was frustrating and only added to my anxiety about this whole situation. My doctor was 1 1/2 hours late. So I had to lie/sit there in a gown hooked up to IVs and monitors for longer than I should have. Finally it was over and I was back home. Taking sips of Water and even a few bites of a popsicle. Then my stomach started hurting. I took a short nap but that didn't t seem to help. So the inevitable happened: I threw up. The night was long. I kept waking up every 2 hours or so to take in some water and just walk around for a while. Today has been better. I had some African Red Tea (yum) then later some chicken broth. So far so good. No more nausea or throwing up. Maybe tomorrow I can mange a Protein shake. Wish me luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ok. Tomorrow is the day! at 2 pm, I will be me + balloon. This pre-op diet is so hard. I couldn't imagine having to do this for weeks. I can barely manage three days. I had a little meltdown last night. I was like "Im not going to be able to do this." So glad my husband was there to pull me out of my funk. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  9. I am planning on getting all my pre-op photos and measurements this weekend but I'm not sure what measurements I should take. I know the obvious— bust, waist, hips — but what else should I keep track of?
  10. This is a list I keep with me to keep motivated. 1. Enjoy shopping for clothes again 2. Get back outdoors and hike. I love it. A few years ago I hiked over 100 miles in 11 months! Now I can barely walk around the block. I am not going to live like that anymore! 3. Sit in a bathtub and not block the Water on both sides 4. Not feel self-conscious in public 5. Not watching my legs jiggle when i walk 6. No sweat spots/rashes under my boobs! #fatgirlproblems 7. Getting to ride a zip line (I've been over the "weight limit" for a while) 8. Sitting in a chair without my butt/gut hanging over the sides 9. Being able to play with my nieces and nephews 10. Being able to look myself in the mirror and truly love what I see. I'm not asking to be perfect. I'm not even asking to be really skinny. I just want to be healthy and happy and finally see myself as the beautiful person I know I am inside.
  11. OK, lets do this Highest weight (ever): 290 Starting weight: 275.3 Goal weight: 175 So my procedure is in 9 days. I'm getting an Orbera. Start my 72 hour liquids on Jan. 9. But here's where I'm starting from. I've been battling the weight my entire adult life. Lose 60 lbs here, gain back 40, then lose 30. I'm sick of it! Hopefully this surgery and help from all y'all here on the message board will help be get there. Good luck to everyone

Benniesaul, yeah 7 days sounds a little drastic for a balloon but I guess every doctor is different. I know my doc said 72 hours liquid would make sure my stomach will be empty by procedure day. He said he couldn't do it if I had ANY food or liquid in my stomach. I hope I can handle the three days. Im going to be off work so that will make it a little easier. I don't need to be tempted with all those after holiday goodies Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Benniesaul, I will have to go on a liquids diet too before the procedure. Mine is just for 72 hours before so I'm not sure what you are having done. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks guys. Im really considering the genpro since its unflavored. I tried a muscle milk the other day and almost threw up! The flavor was ok, i think it was the consistency that got me. Its too thick! Felt like snot going down my throat! are all those things thick like that?! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
