  5. I didn't tell anyone about my surgery. Only my husband and daughter know. Of all people my preop nurse worked with my husband prn at his job lol but she's not telling. I chose to keep mine a secret because I didn't want anyone's opinion or gossip about my life. No friends no family... I told my director I needed surgery... she only asked me was I going to be okay. It's between me and Human Resources about how long and why. Been yo yo dieting for years to end back at 250lbs. Had open heart surgery last year as a result of aortic dissection I needed a drastic change. Nobody's business unless I choose it to be. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I got mine done at Emory midtown 12/12/2016.. very professional but you have to meet certain requirements before you can initially meet with the surgeon... per insurance. Psych evaluation, Registered dietitian. I had open heart surgery last year due to aortic dissection I had to get my annual CT scan and cardiac clearance. 5yrs diet history. Letter of medical necessity from your primary doctor. Your first $300 is refunded if surgery not approved. You only pay the other $300 once approved before final nutrition class. Can not gain any weight once you start the process and you must attend nutrition classes consecutively 4-6 months depending on insurance requirements. Since I work for Emory Healthcare my process was smooth. Check into it due your own research. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. I was sleeved on 12/12/2016 hair loss is one of my fears but I'll work through it. I've been taking Vitamins and Biotin months before I even started my research about the surgery because I've been growing my hair out natural for 5 1/2 years. I use hair prevention loss shampoo and started rinsing my hair with black or green tea to possibly help with minimal hair shedding. I get in my Proteins and liquids and only style and wash weekly. I gave myself the best gift ever wouldn't change a thing. I look at it this way new body... new hair style it will grow back. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. Try making Protein popsicles out of the nectar flavored Protein Powder... love the strawberry kiwi flavor....ordered it from Amazon. Just add crystal light or Hawaiian Punch flavor sugar free packets to it for a little more "sweet" taste. I'm 7days post op and I find that it's easier for me to get in my protein this way. I can tolerate the premier Protein shakes drink at least 2 a day but whenever I try to eat something I get terrible gas and gurgling pains.... I know it will get better. I've already lost 13lbs in 1 wk ????????. Just discovered this app and it makes me feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel.... hope this helps Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
