Spicy Food
I'm 12 days post op and on pureed foods. I took a curry soup from the grocery store and blended it in my super blender until no lumps. Thing is, it's just slightly spicy. Is that okay for me at this stage? Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

Does this get better?
I broke my pills in half, then put them on my tongue as far back as I could without gagging, then a sip or two to get it down. That worked for me Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

Surgery day!
It is so normal to be scared plus some other feelings may crop up. I cried like a baby my second night in the hospital and at other times wondered if I'd done the right thing. It's okay and normal to have all these feelings...just let them happen and be kind to yourself. You're going to great...and better than ever! Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

Does this get better?
I'm 12 days post surgery. It WILL get better! My mantra has been, "tomorrow, I will feel better." I found taking a deep breath and holding it helped me when I felt the upper gas pressure. GasX strips can help with the intestinal gas. Water has not been my favorite thing because it doesn't go down as easily as juice or broth...not sure why. But I make myself drink it and mix half and half with juice to help with that. I also found walking while sipping seemed to be easier too. Hang in there! Post op food ideas?
This is not week 2 per se, but I find a couple of thin slices of fresh ginger root in chicken, beef and vegetable broth to be most delicious and wonderful. Of course the ginger isn't eaten.

Reason for Sugar Free?
I am basically just having a teaspoon of honey in my morning tea, drinking diluted juice with no added sugar, so I'm not adding sugar to anything and will do my best to keep my sugar low. It seems to be okay so far. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

Dr. Ponce / Dr. Frayre, Tijuana
I had sleeve surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Frayre from Ponce Bariatrics on December 5th. Like anyone, I was nervous about going over the border for this and my family was pretty freaked out about that, although they supported me in making this decision. I had the single port surgery through my belly button ($6,000), and for an additional $700, they took out my gal bladder as well through the same hole. My starting weight was 210 lbs, 34 BMI, and 5'6" tall. I had a friend who had gone through Dr. Ponce and had a great experience, so that is why I chose them. Dr. Frayre is another surgeon who works with Dr. Ponce and I was told that they always do surgeries together, even though I can't verify that, as I never saw or met Dr. Ponce. I won't lie, the first couple of days were rough, and it was my first major surgery, so I have nothing to compare to, but I do believe I received excellent care. I am a total sissy when it comes to pain and I really think I have a lower than normal tolerance for it. I was in a sort of tiny hospital called "INT clinic"...only about 12 or 14 rooms total and I had a room to myself with bathroom and walk in shower. The nurses were great and so responsive, even though they spoke little to no English. My single port incision is about an inch long, and located not so much IN my belly button, but at the top of it which was different from what I thought. I have a very deep and narrow belly button, and they have to get all their instruments through that hole, so maybe that is why. I also had a very small drain incision. From my experience, I wouldn't say my recovery was faster with this surgery, but if you want less scars, this may be what you want to choose. You could save $1,000 and just go with the regular surgery and have 4 or 5 tiny incisions. But I am healing well after 10 days and no issues. I do believe Dr. Frayre and Dr. Ponce are accomplished surgeons. I was told Dr. Frayre had the sleeve surgery himself. This is long, but I hope this info is helpful. You are Brave!

Reason for Sugar Free?
What are the reasons that most post op diets require sugar free? Is it a calorie thing, or is sugar bad for a new sleeve? Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

SURGERY EVE: emotions running wild, jitters, sadness, confusion, scared, alone
I had surgery in Mexico 10 days ago, but not with your surgeon. I was scared too and my family was incredibly nervous. Everything went just fine though. I found the facility to be clean and the staff very efficient. I got good care. It is in their best interests to make sure your surgery is sucessful, orherwise word gets out and they lose business. I'm sorry you're alone, but I will be thinking of you and praying it all goes very smoothly for you! Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App

Any New Zealand Sleevers out there?

Low BMI
I had sleeve surgery 9 days ago with a bmi of 34. My surgeon told me that eventually my body would know when to stop losing weight and would come to a natural equilibrium. For me, getting too thin could be remedied by increasing calories. Good luck in whatever you decide to do. Sent from my SM-N910G using the BariatricPal App
