  1. That is reassuring. This article( im having touble posting) scard the heck out of me? With person after person telling about issues of their teeth chipping, etc.
  2. This is the article about dental issues a few years out from RNY.
  3. BgR72: this is not even the original article that I read when I posted about dental problems. That article was easy 15 people telling their store how they all had issuse after issuse with their tteeth and then had to get dentures. One woman said she was 37. If I can find it again I will post it.

  6. As time grows closer to my surgery date I like many am getting cold feet. As I research more and more I have been reading about MANY people have teeth breaking, cavities, bone loss and needing to have root canals. Person after person was completly devastated about never being told about this side effect. All are getting or have gotton dentures because it was so bad. Many could not keep up with the dental bills. I would love to hear from some people who have had surgery a numbers of years ago and hear their thoughts. Thanks
  7. Truth be told is they do not have any long term studies on the sleeve because they have not been doing it that long. The Gastric bypass, rny has been in existence since the 60's and is considered" the gold standard in wls procedures. I think wgat scares most of us is the rerouting of the intestines.
  8. That was the exact dialog when I met with my surgeon. 2nd and last consult on 3/3. Wish me luck. Lol
  9. I would not be too happy with your doctor. I have not had surgery yet but I wanted the sleeve but have had gerd for years. In my consult I mentioned this to the doc. He said," yes gerd can get worse. He said I always can have a revision." I said No!!! Im not having 2 surgeries. He a littke later confessed to me the sleeve procedure is easier and faster.
  10. Glad to hear that!!! Still keep us posted on your journey pls!!! Very happy for u.
  11. I understand your fear completely. I am 58 and going for my last consult with the surgeon on 3/3. I am a low BMI, however hbp, gerd, sleep apena, and pre diabetic. I will be having rny because of gerd. I originally want the sleeve but not willing to chance the gerd that can follow sleeve surgery. Its really scary as time grows closer. One cant help but think, am I trading some health issues for other, different types of health issues. Im gonna see how it goes with the surgeon on friday. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted ok??
  12. What!!! I have never heard this!!! Very curious to see responses from people.
  13. That stands to reason
  14. Mine is covering the surgery
  15. Get that checked out ASAP. itching can mean other things going on not related to surgery.
  16. Keep researching. Heres what my surgeon said when i went to my first consult and?wanted the sleeve. I told him I had gerd for years. He said, "what I have been seei g with the sleeve, about 1/3 of sleeve patients will have gerd following the sleeve peocedure. But what Im seeing is?the 4 to 5 months out patients have severe gerd and end up having a revision to RNY". I myself refuse to chance it. At 58 im not having 2 surgeries. Best of luck to you.
  17. If you have gerd, most surgeons will advise against the sleeve. Gerd gets worse for many.
  18. Excellent!!! I hope they are accommodating!?
  19. I would call the resort, let them know about your diet restrictions. Ill bet they will accomadate you. Cruises are very good like that if you call ahead and i believe the resort will do the same.
  20. Janine 510: i also struggle with losing. I dont even have to mych to lose before surgery. What I did was basically atkins. High protien, higher fat, low carbs only from vegetables, except berrries was the only friut I ate. I lost 5 lbs in 1 week. I did do WW beforw that and amost cried, 1 lb the first week, 1/2 the 2nd. Then I did the low carb, higher fat, and Protein. Its working 2 lbs to go before last surgeon consult. Good luck.
  21. Shannon1980: good luck to you!!! Would love to keep in touch with you to compare how things are going after surgery. I have my last consult 3/3' and surgery sometime after that.
