  1. Ok, I do one problem with the recommended diet post op and just thought I would ask. My doctor's office recommends switching to sugar free stuff, margarine, etc. My problem is this. Having children with autism I have had to dive deep into the things that make up our foods. A lot, and I mean a lot, of the things recommended are filled with chemicals, cancer producing things, and are worse for you than the real thing. I have changed some of these things in their diet and have noticed improvements in behavior. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  2. Thank you, it is a little harder for one of my autism kids. The other doesn't seem to be bothered. I think the hardest thing will be keeping them from wanting to be on me. She is sensory seeking and loves running into people. My other little boy is very nervous. Plus dad is having surgery on the 29th as well. We have older kids to help out but don't want them to obviously get upset. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  3. I have younger kids and 2 of them have autism. My routine has been different pre-op because of me not eating normally. One of my kids are very nervous acting. I told them mommy will be hurt for a little while and I won't be able to do much. He keeps worrying and telling therapist mom is going to hurt herself. Any better way to explain it. 5. Ok, lets hear them. What are some Post-op goals that you have after you get up and about. One of my goals is my kids and I do karate. I'm a purple belt currently but stopped when I started getting out of breath. Now I just watch as I help run the office. I promised my kids I would get back in it and we would do all the tournaments to go to state next year. My 15yo wants to buy a bow flex so we can work muscles to become stronger. I told them I could not start sparring again until doctor approval but I could do the rest I think. I will be talking to my doctor first though. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

  12. So far, we are in the waiting game. I started my pre-op on the 2nd. He has his endoscopy on the 14th and I have my surgery the 16th. He starts his pre-op diet on the 15th. If you want we can all keep in touch. I can let you know how it goes. My main concern is one of us being able to function while the other is down. We live in Texas. 17. I'm use to stupid comments because when you have children with autism you hear all sorts of things but so far I've heard the I'm not heavy enough for surgery. I've heard about 2 people who knew someone who died and I've also had people who in an effort to sell me their products (wraps, beachbody) to try before I do something drastic. 18. OK guys, I'm beginning to have doubts I can do this. I'm on day 2 of pre-op liquid diet. I am so bored already with my limited choices and starving to boot. I'm scared to death that I won't be able to keep this up after surgery. Please let me know I won't always be hungry. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
