calling all December 2016 sleevers!
Good luck Cary! Your nervousness is totally normal, but don't worry because you're going to do AMAZING! I was so nervous the morning of my surgery (Dec 14) that I had to be talked out of backing out by my surgeon, and now I'm so happy and thankful that I went through with the procedure. I've had no real pain, just a little soreness, and now since surgery I've lost 13 pounds. Definitely keep us all posted on your progress. We can all do this! Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

I had my VSG surgery on December 14th too. I'm having a similar experience with itching and redness at my incision sites, which I believe is normal. I have to keep reminding myself not to scratch. I've been finding some relief by very gently washing my stomach with soap and warm Water. Hopefully it will help you too. Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

The day for surgery has arrived...
It will be over before you know it. When I first awakened after surgery I was in a state of shock because I honestly thought the surgeon had somehow pulled out at the last minute and decided not to do the surgery procedure, because I wasn't feeling any kind of pain. My surgeon actually walked over to me and confirmed that he did indeed do the surgery and everything went very well. I eventually felt a little soreness at the incision sites but that was very bearable. Of course, I know people sometimes have complications, but what's a safer place to have a complication than an actual hospital. I believe you're gonna totally ROCK this!:-) Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

Good luck to you, Mimi! But more important than luck, please listen to and follow all the directions of your surgeon and surgery coordinator and you will be fine. I wish I had my VSG surgery sooner, but fear and nervousness kept me from pursuing it. I'm so happy you're going to be joining the journey with the rest of us! You're going to do FANTASTIC! Keep us all updated on your progress, and just remember, we can all do this! Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

December Sleeve
Wow. My experience was exactly like yours. I was so worried and scared of possible post surgery pain, but actually after surgery I simply woke up just a little bit sore, but with no real pain. I initially thought perhaps the surgery hadn't happened. Since being released from the hospital I've been taking it easy, but I feel great, and I've been out walking quite a bit with no problems, except working hard to get in all the required Protein, so I've got ZERO to complain about. Also, so far I've lost 10 lbs in four days. I'm not sure if my experience is typical, but if it is, we should let the rest of the world know that the VSG procedure isn't as scary as it is perceived to be. For me, so far, it's a real blessing. Good luck to everyone. We can all do this! Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

I'm having my surgery on December 14 too! Good luck! Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin! How are my December 14th friends holding up? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Hey Julia!I'm doing fantastic! It's been pretty smooth sailing for me. I've had minimal discomfort and ZERO real pain. I am eternally thankful to my AWESOME surgeon Dr Benjamin Kim for his cool calming nature and his reassurance because I was having very strong second thoughts the morning before surgery. Thank God, I went through with the surgery. I'm feeling so good, now everyone around me is in shock because they thought I would be laying in bed for days dealing with some kind of pain, but instead I was up and out walking around almost immediately. It was pretty cold here in Los Angeles yesterday so I went for a nice walk in a shopping mall. The funny thing is, in the past I almost hated going into the mall because I was too big to buy clothes and I used to walk too slow and tire quickly, and of course I really disliked people staring at me and my fat body. However, yesterday at the mall, I was able to walk faster without tiring and I actually enjoyed looking at clothes that I know I will be able to wear in the not so distant future. I may not be exactly where I want to be yet, but I'm definitely well on my way! Also, as of this morning December 18th I've dropped 10 lbs in the four days since surgery. Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

The day for surgery has arrived...
Wow! I'm so happy you to hear that you didn't back out. I was seriously thinking about doing the same, the morning of my surgery. However, I'm so happy I went through with the surgery. My pain has been almost non-existent, just a little uncomfortable pressure at my incision sites. Good luck with your recovery. You're absolutely right, we can both do this! Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

December Sleeve
I had my VSG surgery on Wednesday December 14 and by Saturday morning I was down 7 lbs. I'm feeling pretty good as I'm getting out and walking. I felt some hunger earlier today so I had a sugar free popsicle, and a few hours later I sipped a couple teaspoons of chicken broth. My only difficulty has been trying to get all my Protein in. I'm sipping Isopure protein all day but it's still tough to get in all 60 grams. I really can't complain about anything because my pain has been very minimal, and I am eternally thankful for that. Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

The day for surgery has arrived...
Hey caddygirl! The surgery itself was fine. I didn't feel a thing. The small incisions are just a little sore but very tolerable. I'm feeling pretty good. I had the surgery Wednesday, I came home Thursday, and today I've been resting but I've also got up and went for a couple of walks. The only tough part has been trying to get all the required Protein in. However, I haven't been hungry at all. Also, I can't say enough about how thankful I am that I'm not in any pain. I was given some liquid hydrocodone for pain but I haven't really needed it, thankfully! In the past, I had been so afraid of this surgery, now like so many others I wish I had the procedure sooner, but I'm happy I finally got it done. I'm feeling very blessed to have so much support as well. Thanks to everyone for your positive thoughts and well wishes! We can definitely all do this! Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!
