  1. Hi Joane, I'm Sarah, I was banded in April last year, and so far am doing great. I had 93 pounds to lose and so far I have lost almost 62 pounds. I'm 33 and I live in Ventura, but had my surgery at Cedars-Sinai in LA. Where are you having your surgery done? Please, feel free to email me if you have any questions/concerns about the process.stormsarebrewing@aol.com Good luck with your surgery, I have to say it was the best decision I could have made to improve my health and life. Sarah
  2. what you have described sounds EXACTLY like what I'm experiencing myself. I have lost about 43 pounds since being banded in April, but have only had one fill, my second is scheduled for the first week of September, but I haven't lost anything for two weeks. I just ate dinner, and had no problem and ate almost as much as before the band, also other times I can't even get one bite down. I went on LBT to try to re-motivate myself - I have been eating like crap quite honestly. It is hard when you don't feel any restriction most of the time, and can't seem to stick with the healthy foods. I do'nt know what size band I have, I know I have 4cc's in there now though. I think the key for us is to remember to eat the healthy foods before anything else until we can talk with our doctors. On top of now being able to eat whatever I want - now I'm losing my hair...grrr. Sorry, I'm kind of rambling, I don't know if it is helping at all. I could use a buddy right now, too. :-)
  3. I couldn't stand the taste of any of the whey Protein drinks, I tried Isopure, unjury, Designer Whey...they all tasted absolutely disgusting to me. Out of desperation I tried the GNC Soy Protein Powder and found that it is quite palatable. I have to take in 88 grams of protein per day and there is 31 grams of protein per shake if it is mixed with milk or soy milk, and less than 5 carbs. I have one for Breakfast on most days and then track all my food intake and if I need more protein I have another one for dessert. It's pretty reasonably priced too, only $15.99 per tub, plus it's usually on sale for buy one get one half off. I'm now down 39 pounds since I was banded on April 24th, so I'm happy with my progress using this plan. Hope this helps! Sarah Pre Op: 238.4 (Banded 4/24/08) Current: 199.4 (finally under 200!!!) Goal: 150
  4. List: Name: Sarah Date you were banded: April 24, 2008 Weight loss to date: 24.6 pounds How are you feeling? I feel fantastic! I am so happy I did this, and I am thrilled with my results so far. My Dr. told me not to expect any weight loss until I had my first fill, which I have June 4th, so I am extremely happy to prove him wrong.:wink2: Sarah Surgery Date - 4/24/08 Pre Op Weight - 238 Current - 213 Goal - 140
  5. Wow, reading everyone else's diets I am thinking my Doctor is nuts!!! I have to have clear liquids plus Protein Shakes for THREEEEEE weeks! Then I go to mushy and soups for a week, then regular food after that. I had my surgery on 4/24 so I'm almost at one week and already going crazy. I now HATE Jello. I don't think I can handle this clear liquids and Protein Drinks diet for two more weeks. Also - I have to have 90 grams of Protein per day. Fortunately I do like the GNC soy protein drinks. And on the plus side, one week in and I've lost 14 pounds. I have my one-week appointment Friday and I'm going to ask if it's really really necessary to wait three weeks to have tomato Soup or tofu... Sorry for my rant - I'm hungry and I had my first day back at work today. Sarah Banded 4/24/08 Start: 238 pounds Now: 224 pounds
