Gone for Good Club - May 2006
Ok, no more hiding in the dark. Y'all love me and you can watch as I work this stupid neck into submission. *threatens her neck with a PS's blade* I cant wait until my eyes start opening up again. I see such a huge difference in people's eyes as they lose weight. This first 63 pounds was just testing the waters. Now it's time to really see a difference and get the next 100 pounds +/- off. Right?! Oh my gawd... even my nose and chin are fat! LOL!

Tricia, honey, this losing weight stuff must be hard on ya. Your hair's done turned white! Glad you all like the new avatar. That was from last Sunday's bbq - the one that made me depressed when I saw the pics. I figured I'd just take the bull by the horns and post the stupid thing so I can go on and get over it. I have THE worst double, no... quadruple chin of anyone Ive ever seen. Its so ugly! Back to the neck exercises!!

Anyone taking Fosamax?
This is so sad. My mom, bless her heart, is nearing 70 and she is in great shape. She has always taken very good care of herself with diet, exercise, Vitamins and about 10 years ago she started taking Fosamax to fight osteoporosis which is very present in the women of our family. Mom loves to snowshoe and hike, she kickboxes and works out every week. Recently she went to have a cap replaced on her tooth. The dentist noticed an infection under the cap, so he sent her to a periodontist (sp?) to have that taken care of. While there, they found some bone deterioration in her jaw and scheduled an appointment for her to come in and have the dead bone removed. Well, yesterday she had an appointment with a doctor about what they thought was athritis in her fingers. After checking mom's history, the doctor told her that joint and jaw bone deterioration is very common in people who have taken fosamax for a long period of time. She was instructed to stop taking it immediately, although it will never completely leave her system. The prognosis for her hands and jaws is not good. Both will deteriorate with little hope of repair. She is seeing a specialist today to get on a Vitamin and exercise regime that might help some, and she will be joining the millions of people across the country who are filing for a class action suit against Merk, the makers of Fosamax. I only hope they agree to give these people whatever types of artificial replacements they need to maintain use of their jaws (talking, eating, smiling, etc) and hands (where do I even start?). I'm sharing this for any of you who may be on this drug, or know someone who is. If you Google 'fosamax lawsuits', you'll find a lot of information and countless attorneys who will be building the class action suits. If you have been on Fosamax, do NOT have any dental work done until you have seen a doctor. Dental work is typically the cause of the jaw problem for those on this drug.

Good Band - Fast (Home or Restruant) Food Ideas
On the go: Starkist Tuna lunch to Go packs. They come with 6 ritz crackers, low cal mayo, pickle relish and a pack of tuna. No refrigeration needed. Eating out: Wendy's chili, baked potato, side salad, or the asian chicken salad Fast food joints that have grilled chicken sandwiches will give you the meat and veggies without the bun. Most any restaraunt serves grilled chicken and steamed veggies. This summer, when Dawg and I start going out on photo trips, I'm going to purchase a small microwave for our car. Kind of odd and not very practical in all cars, but then if you are on the road all the time, it might be worth it to have in the backseat. They do have some very small ones now. Toss in a cooler and your on-the-road food options increase exponentially.

Banded in January 2006?
Hiya Fran! It might be time for that fill if you're weightloss has slowed way down. Are you having to rely 100% on your own will power to keep to your diet, or is the band helping you stay full between meals?

I hate it when..
I hate it when my daughter and son-in-law start talking about moving to Portland. I hate it when I wake up early and cant go back to sleep on Saturday and Sunday, but can hardly pry my eyes open on weekdays. I hate it I tan and tan and tan and I'm still white. I hate it when I get a white shirt that I like and stain it the first time I wear it. I hate it when people drive up the middle turning lane to get to a light thats a half a mile down the road. I hate it when people stop to let cars out of parking lot driveways so they can cross through other lanes of oncoming traffic with limit visibility. I HATE it when I see little children standing up or sitting on an adults lap in a moving vehicle. I hate it when I let my appearance get me down when I'm trying so hard to do everything I can to improve it. I hate it when I dye my hair brown and it comes out red. I hate it when people let their dogs run loose and I have to save the neighborhood children from the terror of a snarling animal. I hate it when I wake up and I'm still in a horrible mood after a week of feeling like tearing everyone's head off and spitting down their neck. *sweet smile*

why do we have toes?
I use my toes to hug Dawg's toes while we fall asleep at night. For little boys, they are for standing up taller when trying to reach the cookie jar on the kitchen counter. Some toes are just there to take the brunt of the blow when we forget where the coffee table is. OUCH! Oh, and all my toes are for decorating with pretty colors. When they are no longer fat, I want a toe ring!

Will I get a fill?
Hey Kellie... isnt it funny that we can work with our bands for so long and then suddenly feel at a lost about a fill decision? I'm kind of going through the same dilema. I'm noticing my desire to eat more after I've finished a meal and yesterday I even ate an extra meal. I still only hit 1,100 calories but for me that's a lot. You said you have had reflux for the past three months? That doesn't sound right. I thought the band took away the reflux problems. My doctor told me that I wouldn't have to take the meds for that anymore. Have they eyeballed your band to be sure everything's sitting well in there?

Pink Mary - Yup, you update your points in your original scorecard. PosterChild - Your day is rapidly approaching! Keep us posted ok? Great weightloss this week! Heather? Good grief, look at you go!! You are rockin' the house!! *hugs* Kimmers - I've really slowed down the last couple of weeks too. Maybe it's just the natural flow of things? Since we were banded so close together, maybe we are just not hitting the first plateau? Um.. push me off will ya? :grouphug: Iziksmom - Happy early birthday girl! 36 pounds is awesome! That's a small child! :clap2: Kristin - Time to move you up on the Honors page! 61 pounds! Grats hun! Funny - Girlfriend, I am SO stinking proud of you! SIX pounds! *boogies down* LaSasha - Aww. I can only imagine how frustrated you must be. Maybe it's time to really examine what youre eating. Are you journaling your food? Try tracking calories and proteins just to see where you are, ok? Mychevygirl - DeAnn, you simply amaze me. 64 pounds preband! Through all kinds of stress with your dad in and out of the hospital too. You are my new hero! I will be thinking of you tomorrow, my friend. I can only imagine how well you are going to do once you are banded. Good lord. I'm thinking record breaker here! *hugs* Telly - *laughs* You crack me up. Going to put on that sweatsuit and sweat out a coupla more pounds? Yup, late tonight is fine. I love weigh-in days. It's so awesome to see everyone's successes. Keep up the great work everyone! I'll be checking on the thread throughout the day. Oh, and I've been watching everyone's scorecards too. :welcomeB: to the Gone For Good Club! NJGirl - Better late than never! Welcome to the GFG Club! Marie485 - I saw you sneak in! Welcome to the Club! If you two would post a short introduction that would be awesome. We like to hear a little about each new member so we can get to know you. If you'd like to look over the other member's introductions, you'll find them on the first two months' threads. (we start a new thread each month so the thread doesnt get too long) Have a look on page one of this thread. Under the list of members names, you'll see links for the March and April GFG Club threads. Also, if you want your stats on the Members page, include them in your posts. Thanks!

Happy Weigh-In Day Everyone! Here is the format for reporting. Please feel free to copy it and then edit to put in your numbers: C 244 (-63 lbs total, -.5 this week) And please remember not to include your signatures on all posts. It really saves time for folks who have dialup. There is a "show signature" option you can uncheck before clicking on "Submit reply" or "Save changes". Thanks! PS Thats my sad little amount in the example above. I guess all the walking last week with LindaV put on muscles? Lets hope so!
