January Sleevers Check-In
Hi Joannrmn, I went through a period about 3 weeks after surgery that water made me gag! I was not a big drinker before, would always forget....and I will admit, I am sure I don't do 64 oz every day. Now I am able to drink water, but I mix it up a lot. I drink crystal light, and too much, I am not an artificail sweetner fan. Salads yes, I can, but again not nearly as much as I want...and I have gotten my most "full" from salads. Congrats on your success too! Where in NY are you?

January Sleevers Check-In
I am down 44 since surgery, 88 since July when I made changes. I can pretty much eat anything. Have never gotten sick, I do get "gurgly" . I am worried I push it.....I want way more food than I can handle, and am doing sometime a cup a meal....worried I am stretching my stomach. The constant battle....eyes bigger than stomach...literally. I do feel better though, way more energy, am working out and doing lots of walking. And feel good doing it. I just need to not get cocky....know what I mean?

January Sleevers Check-In
Hi all, I am in a HUGE stall! I have only lost 2 lbs in a MONTH! I am getting my water in, getting my protein in, and the restriction is working fine. I am unable to eat more than a cup of food....I am not drinking my calories... I don't get it and am very frustrated. I do feel my body changing if that makes sense, but the scale is not moving. 3 cups of food a day...I should be losing pounds...I don't care if it's 3 cups of french fries...which it is NOT...I should be losing weight.
-
Let's talk about stalls...
In my 1st one now..5 weeks it started...scale hasn't moved for 10 days. I can't help but be paranoid that its because I can eat meat etc....thats when it started. Did you vets just carry on or do something to jump start it again?
-
Anyone else feel this way?
Oh hell yes! Totally normal! And yes...it WILL pass. I am 6 weeks out..and can enjoy most foods again...just very small amounts. And best of all..just KNOWING I can have anything..is enough to keep me on track and making the right choices. Hang in there..and leave the room when they are snacking.

Smoking!!
My Dr. Would send you home. He told me it would show after 3 weeks. I can't imagine going thru this AND quitting smoking at the same time....perhaps you should wait???

January Sleevers Check-In
The atkins frozen meals are higher in Protein. My food plan says no Protein drinks after 2 weeks. No more drinking calories ever. I eat protein at every meal, eggs, chicken (moist), deli meat, cottage cheese and Beans. I can get one of those things in every meal.

January Sleevers Check-In
Hi all! I was sleeved 1/17. Pre-consult weight 357; SW 314; CW 280 I am doing MUCH better now that I can have actual food! Liquids have been a constant challenge, but I keep trying. My 2nd week was my "buyers remorse" week! I got through it, hang in there those that are going through it. I have joined the Y and am walking..trying to up my steps. I am really focused on following the program exactly, but if i do "slip up", (like the handful of movie popcorn I had this week) I don't beat myself up! (I have my stomach to do that for me!) Great job everyone!

Struggling
Sounds like the majority of us go through this. Try the Atkins Shakes..they were delish! Yes, it does get better. I am almost 6 weeks out, and getting some real food in..slowly. The dreams and cravings have all stopped for the most part.

Skipping meal plan phases
I am 6 weeks out and am not supposed to have meat for another 5 days...I had chicken today...very tender and chewed lime crazy well. Just a tiny bit. First I have "cheated"..but I see people here all the time having pureed earlier than this. I also had a raw spinach leaf .. no problem. But first 5 weeks? I was militant about following plan...too scary and not worth it.

Nausea
I went thru this week 3 & 4..water made me almost throw up. Oyster crackers helped..just 2. I would not worry about carbs at this point..you are still healing and the little amount you are eating isn't going to be damaging.

Do any of you vets completely ignore this rule?
I gave up carbonated drinks almost a year before the surgery. So glad I did, I would hate to be craving that now. Once about a month before my surgery I was thirsty and took a sip of my husbands Diet Coke..it was AWFUL! I was sooo happy I had lost my taste for it all together. If you have not had surgery yet, give it up before!

Cheated
I swear you could have written this about me! I feel the same way you do, and my Dr.'s say the same thing. No guilt....its just like everything else! And isn't it funny the things we think we are dying for, then have 1 teeny bite and then are all...."meh' about it. Love it!

Popcorn????
Update: I went and broke down and had some popcorn. It was like everything else has been. Only took about a handful..if that. Didn't quite taste the same...and that little bit did not make me sick or dump or whatever...so far. But I did feel like I had enough to satisfy me. Was able to watch 99% of the movie just drinking my crystal light! Everyday would be an issue I am sure, but a little indulgence, IF you can keep it to a LITTLE. Nut said could have anything slowly after week 7....well I am in week 6 so I jumped a head a little. Luckily I am very tolerant of everything, not everyone is so lucky. Listen to your body is the key.

Popcorn????
A) Will we EVER be able to have it? B WHEN?? Going to the movies tomorrow....and I am a popcorn freak! It was the reason for going to the movies for me. Now i know a whole bag...is OUT...but a handful?? Anyone?

4 weeks out and I haven't lost in 2 weeks!
That is a LOT of weight to lose the 1st 2 weeks!! Better than average by far! I would not worry about it. Your body is still wondering...WTH??

Failure
Hang in there.....from what I see here, MOST of us have a hard time getting in all the fluids. I was sleeved same day as you. If I get 50 oz in it's a good day! I will not drink until I get sick, not gonna do it. I think we are all different when it comes to this too....and it can't be "one size fits all" as far as liquids go. Do the best you can. It is getting better for me regarding food/vitamins etc.....but it has been a really tough 5 weeks.
-
Failure
I was told by my Dr. is VERY common to leave hospital weighing more that when you went in. Everyone is different, some people take a few weeks to get rid of the fluids. I advise stay away from the scale for as long as you can.

Is it as daunting as it sounds?
Honestly...I will be 4 weeks on Tues. and I wish I tried other ways first. I wish I did not do this...I am not in control..my sleeve is..and though I am 70 lbs down since I started in this journey 6 mos. Ago...so far it has NOT been worth the anguish. I think Dr.'s are waaay to eager to perform this surgery..telling us its our only hope. Don't fall for it until you have REALLY tried living this way. How soon have you had it after surgery?
-
Not following the regimen as directed. Please help.
I have yet to drink 64 oz..and I am 3 weeks post op. I am in the 50 oz range....I have never been a drinker..but I am trying. Don't forget your Protein shakes count towards liquids. Keep trying.

Dumping! [emoji1360]????[emoji40]
Had my first experience yesterday...was ugly...and not really sure what caused it...or even if it was a "dump" and maybe just Diarrhea because I went a few more times throughout the day. But it came on fast, and I was not home..and well...lets just say I had to get home and quick. I am leaving xtra clothes in the car now...ahem. Only thing I can think of is too much non-dairy creamer in my coffee.... Successful bypass surgery doesn't feel successful
My mother used to say..there is nothing worse than a reformed smoker or eater....seems to me you should focus on yourself and lets the others live their own life. If they want your advise they will seek it. We can't force others to "see the light". Just my 2 cents. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
