I am down 21 lbs since my surgery. I didn't have a pre-op diet so my surgery weight was my highest ever.

Exactly Karen, I think it is a big accomplishment to not eat the whole bag! I had one Cadburry chocolate egg yesterday. I look forward to those eggs all year. I've had one or two before yesterday but I finally loaded all the candy up and took it to work. I'm amazed that I do feel guilty about eating it now. I had gotten to the point that I never even thought about what I was eating. The office had birthday cake yesterday and I passed that up. Before the band it would have been a piece in the morning, a piece at lunch and one in the afternoon! I guess what I'm trying to say is that the band didn't magically change my habits, but it has made me acutely aware of them so that I can work to change them. I'm down 21 lbs today!!!!

When I started trying to get approved about 3 years ago I told everyone I was thinking about it. I did get lots of negative reactions and when I finally accepted that I was going to have to pay for it myself I did it without telling the people who had negative things to say before. I had surgery 3 1/2 weeks ago and when I started telling some of those people that I had it, I think they realized I didn't need or want their opinions.

I'm not doing a weightloss scrapbook but I plan to be a much bigger part of my family scrapbooks once I can stand to look at a picture of myself!

My first mini goal was to be under 200 and my reward is a facial. I really want that facial though, so I may change the goal to just 25lbs! I've never been good at waiting for things!

I have a 95lb lab named Jack. He's my new exercise partner. I'm hoping the exercise will make him quit eating my plants! He's a year old and I have no landscaping left!

Guess we'll have to start a new one.

He put in 1.2 ccs in a 4cc band.

Well, the fill didn't hurt at all. I actuallly asked "that's it?" I had heard they go through the scar but I have a bandaid right below my scar. I thought I could feel my port right above my scar but I guess not. They make you sit in the waiting room and drink a bottle of water to make sure your not too tight. I had no problems at all with the water. I'm on liquids for 3 days and then mushies for three more. I guess after that we will see what kind of restriction I have. I'm really, really excited!

I had my first fill today! Now I'm back on liquids for 3 days. I really really hope I can feel the restriction when I'm able to start eating.

I had extreme diarrhea during my 2nd week post op. It was truly the worst thing I have ever experienced. I was MISERABLE! Anyway, I was complaining to my mother about it and she asked what I was eating. I told her mainly I was sticking with Atkins shakes, yogurt and cottage cheese. She reminded me that I'm lactose intollerant. I quit all dairy products and now I feel great but I'm actually getting hungry now. I feel like I've been hungry all day today and I'm worried about being able to get my proteins in now. Does anyone know of a good supplement without milk in it?

I told just about everyone. I was amazed that every negative reaction I got came from other people that were fat too.

I also used Dr. Spiegel. So far my experience with him has been great. I was self-pay and my decision to use Dr. Spiegel was largely based on his experience. I really liked the fact that he only does lap-band surgery.

Every morning after I pee!!! That's me too. And it has started to kind of control my mood for the rest of the day!!!!!

Good luck to everyone and thank you all for your kind words! I was feeling pretty sorry for myself last night! I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and since I was self-pay it would be awesome to get the insurance to cover part of the surgery!

I'm having a hard time too. Not so much with the eating, etc. I just don't feel good yet. 1 week after surgery I got a sinus infection and 2 weeks after I got this awful stomach bug. I've still got remnants of both and I just feel like I've been sick forever. I know I'll get past it, it's just getting there that's the problem.

Which office do you see him in? I am from the Beaumont area but went for my follow-up on 3-13 to his Houston office. My first fill is 3-31! How are you feeling? I ate a taco today. I know, so not on my plan but it went down easy and hey, it's Easter and I didn't eat a single piece of Easter candy!

Camrynsmommy, when are you going for your first fill?

It does give me heartburn, but only when I use the to go packets. I don't have a problem with it when I mix a pitcher of it. Rasberry tea is my favorite and I've never seen Lemon-Lime. I bet it's yummy! Honestly, I'm amazed with the fact that I'm completely off diet coke. I thought it would be so hard but I don't even want one anymore!

Honestly, you know who those people are who will attack your self-confidence and undermine your achievments. Those people will find something else about you to attack if they can't find a way to attack your self-esteem. You just have to decide if it is worth having them in your life. Some people just can't feel good about themselves if they aren't making someone else feel bad.

I couldn't help but tell people I was so excited. I was surprised at the amount of support I was given. My co-workers even try to match their lunch to whatever stage I'm in. However, there have been several people that just blurt things out that are so insensitive. I give them my prepared speech about how this is such a "personal" decision and I know this was the right one for me. They usually start agreeing with me after that.

I was banded on March 7th by Dr. Spiegel in Houston. Congratulations! I am missing food so much less today than I was a week ago, being able to add creamy soups really helped. I am just amazed that I can actually drink a Slim Fast or a Campbells Soup at Hand and really be satisfied. I am so excited about this journey! It is so amazing to lose weight and really believe that I will be able to keep it off! I've never had that confidence in myself before and I love it! Good luck!

I have to wait 3 to 4 weeks after my surgery, so about 2 1/2 more weeks and I can't wait!!
