  1. Wow! You are doing so well. I was over 300 pounds in 2001. I'll reply later - time to walk the dog. thanks so much
  2. I would really love to have a face-to-face group. I'm struggling and would like some contact with other lapbanders. I just put my bio on another thread, but here goes. I'm almost 58 and got banded a year ago. I've been struggling the last few months. I'm a single adoptive mother, facing an empty nest. This is a tough time for me, and I hate that I went back to food again. I would love to hear from folks.
  3. Tapshoes, Baking? Now that I can't do. I love to bake, and gave it up 2 years ago. I miss it, but I can't be around it.
  4. thanks for your encouragement, it always helps....
  5. Before the band 250 this morning, 208 In 2002 I had congestive heart failure - and a weight of 308 that means that today, I'm 100 pounds thinner 2 years ago, I got down to 185. It was wonderful. That's my current goal. I love the clothes I got then. I want to wear them again! My prayer is the the band helps me to keep it off! I've been obese all my life.
  6. Here's my favorite breakfast: plain Greek yogurt (it's an acquired taste - now I love it) blueberries Kashi Go Lean sometimes I add cashew pieces - they make it more filling, but they are a dangerous food for me to have in the house.
  7. Is this thread active? I was really struggling a few months ago, and asked for a mentor. I didn't get any answers. Now, I'm doing a lot better - turns out that I needed a fill. I still would like a buddy. I'm outside of Boston, female in my late 50's. Looking forward to replies.
  8. I wrote a few weeks ago when I wasn't doing well. I had my fill and all is well. I love this feeling of not needing much food! I still would like to find a support group. I'm in Newton. Anyone?
  9. I was banded in March, and quickly lost 30 pounds. Now it's not going so well. I'm getting a fill on Wednesday (Dr. Jones), and I'm excited and hopeful. I haven't been feeling any restriction. I need more support. I'm 57, a single adoptive mother of a wonderful 17 year old boy. I'm preparing for empty nest. That's a lot what the band is about for me. Using this year to get myself ready to reenter the bigger world. I've been keeping myself so sheltered all these years, with my focus on being a Mom. Now, time for me, and I don't know how to handle it.
  10. I was banded in March, and quickly lost 30 pounds. That's it. I can't get back on the program. I don't feel any restriction. I had one fill, when I had lost the 30. That's when I started eating badly. I weighted 250, now just under 220. Help!
  11. This is the tough part. I know the band is just a tool. I've having trouble using my tool right now. I'm eating badly, but when I do, I'm not hungry for good foods! So my restriction is working, I'm not. I'm going to the 5 day pouch website right now, and hopefully get back on track. Thank you all.
  12. I think it's time to move on. Complaining has it's place, then we need to move on. There forums are to valuable to us to have us focus on what we don't like. Just skip what you don't like, and move on to the things that are useful. I guess I'm complaining too, but enough.... My computer keeps sending me back to this thread, but it's time for me to move on.
  13. I just had my first fill. The Dr. tried a little too much and I couldn't swallow Water, so he took some out. Now I'm a little sorry because it seems like I can eat anything. I don't feel as full as I hoped. I've lost 30 pounds, and that's great. Even when I don't eat well, I certainly eat a lot less. I need to get back on track.
  14. Questions are fine. I think the objection was to people needing medical help and expecting us lay people to act as medical professionals.
  15. Thanks ready4it and Susan. When I get some time, I'll start playing with it.
  16. How do you get those cute tickers on the bottom of your postings. I looked at their WEB site and didn't see instructions about how to get it to print on this forum.
  17. I had heard that many people can go right to work, and others take a while. I was banded 3/17. I was planning on taking the rest of the week off, and work parttime the next week. I went to work that next Monday and threw up in the car. Guess I wasn't ready. So I ended of taking that second week off.
  18. What does "zeisen" mean? I love to pick up some Yiddish! Your second banded Passover - a real pro. I just got banded in March! I appreciate your wisdom. How much have you lost? Why don't you eat matzoh? Is it a wheat thing? I'm also going to make chopped herring. I have a salt limitation, and the only thing good about the band is that my portions are so small, I can early salty foods that I couldn't before!
  19. My dietition said matzah was okay... I'm really not sure. I really don't understand why we can't eat Pasta and rice because of them swelling. Didn't they finish swelling when they were cooked. Truthfully, I did eat them soon after the surgery - twice. Friends brought me the soup. The first time it was fluffy, and I just ate it. The second time it was really hard, and I blended up the whole quart of soup. chicken, veggies, soup and matzah ball. It was wonderful. I didn't have a problem...
  20. It's be 4 weeks tomorrow. My energy is coming back slowly. I've lost 22 pounds since the pre-diet started on March 3rd. Yesterday, I was looking at my scars, and noticed of them - not the big one - might have been a little whiteish. Today, when I came out of the shower, it bled a little. Is that cause for alarm? I'm more worried that they'll tell me to come in, and I don't want yet another trip in. Luckily, there is a lovely nurse at school, and I can show it to her. I went to a restaurant yesterday for the 1st time. I got a yummy puree Soup and mashed sweet potatoes. Felt good to be out. I asked the waitress to bring it out along with everyone's main courses, and it worked out well.
  21. Passover is 8 days, not 1, so we have a lot of planning to do. I also make Passover Granola, which can make a nice Breakfast. Not as much Protein as the shake. Maybe add a little cheese? I know everyone makes their own Passover decisions. I see my Protein shakes as a doctors order, like medicine. I might have it on Passover.
  22. There was some Passover discussion a few weeks ago. I'm planning on making chopped liver and chopped herring. And I'll eat the gefilte fish and matzah ball Soup. Can you eat yogurt? I know some people can, who don't tolerate milk. I'm not too worried.
  23. I want to keep hearing those small goals for our rewards. I was banded on March 17th, and have lot 22 pounds since I began my pre-diet on March 3rd. I already get my nails done a lot, and I don't want to buy clothes. I was much thinner 2 years ago, and I like all those clothes I bought then! People have other ideas for rewards?
  24. I had a meltdown after 4 or 5 days. I was trying to take spoonfuls of vile liquid meds. That stuff is horrible - I've switched to pill cutting. Emotions are raw. I was just banded March 17th, so my emotions are evening out. For days, everything was a crisis.
