  1. Hello all! I'm 7 months post-op, down 97 pounds with no regrets or complications. I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled in a few weeks and since getting my sleeve was the only surgery I've ever gotten, I was wondering what people thought was worse: getting their teeth pulled or getting bariatric surgery? I'm asking in terms of pain, recovery etc.
  2. Get a variety of protein shakes because you will get tired of them. Like pre-op I loved chocolate flavored shakes but after a few days of taking constantly taking tiny sips, I needed a change so I bought a tropical punch flavored shake lol Also don't stress too bad if during the first few weeks you aren't meeting the water/protein goals. Just try your best and keep in mind things get a little easier everyday as your stomach is healing. Congrats and best of luck!

    Is this normal?

Yup that happened to me too. It was like that for the first two weeks when I was on liquids. It does get better when you start introducing solids, as you would expect. Best of luck with everything!
  4. Hi all! So I'm 4 months post op. My SW was 350lbs and now I'm down to 278. I've lost almost 75 pounds so far and while I'm really proud and happy with my progress I guess I also can't help but feel a little disappointed? Ive only gone down one clothing size and it doesn't really feel like my appearance and general energy level has changed very much. Obviously I do notice some little things like my bathrobe fitting better but I guess I just expecting a much bigger difference in how I look/feel after 70+ pounds. Overall I'm happy with the surgery and I have no regrets but I guess I'm having to realize just how seriously overweight I was before and how it's going to be a lot before I really see a major change. I know I'm not even 6 months post op and I've still got a ways to go before my goal weight but did anyone else go through a similar kind of disappointment? Like did it take longer than expected for things to really feel "different"?

    Any sleevers in college?

Hey I'm a junior in college who's 3.5 months post op and I've lost 70 pounds so far So far my journey is going well! I have an apartment on campus with a kitchen so I've been able to have a lot of control over my diet and I go to a large school so I get lots of walking in every days. I honestly have 0 regrets about getting sleeved. I think my biggest piece of advice as a college student is to keep to a routine and plan your meals. Like always make sure you have good food on hand in your dorm so you aren't tempted to grab something high carb/high sugar from the dining hall/cafes on campus when you're on the go. Best of luck with finals and I hope things go well for you! [emoji4]

    Regrets

I'm three weeks post op but I definitely remember how rough the first few days are. I promise you things get better everyday and it will pass. Best of luck with everything! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Hello all I'm two weeks post op so I'm just beginning my weight loss journey. I know the first year or so is really when you lose the most weight so I'm wondering if you have any tips to make the most of this first year and maximize weight lost. Any certain foods to eat? Exercise tips? Anything to avoid? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I remember saying this.

Yeah I've always been overweight but I'm a size 22 now (I'm two weeks post op so hopefully that'll be changing soon lol) and I look back to when I was size 18 and I'm like, "Oh girl if you only knew." Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I'm one week post up and I'm just curious about what point of the journey people find to be the hardest (i.e. pre op, first month, maintenance etc) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Preop headache

I had the same thing. I think it's probably related to carb/sugar withdrawals. You'll get through it, it will pass Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    My Pre-op Diet isn't Liquid

  12. Hello all I'm 1 week post op still on the Full liquid diet about to transition to very soft foods like yogurt and refried Beans. I'm just kind of confused about what exactly the "full" signal is. If I take a sip that's too big or too many sips one after another, I get a distinct painful almost "stuck" feeling that lasts a couple seconds and then it's gone and I'm okay to keep taking sips as long as they're very small. Is this "stuck" feeling supposed to be the signal that I'm full? I had thought the surgery was meant to make you feel more full and satisfied sooner but this feeling I'm getting doesn't feel like what I remember "full" to feel like. Anybody have any insight? 13. Definitely my mom. I'm a college student on winter break and I was sleeved last week so I've been at home a few weeks and honestly my mom is a lifesaver. She's encouraging especially as I'm getting frustrated with getting my fluids in and has been super helpful with buying the liquids and soft foods I can eat. Does it get better?

Hello all I just got sleeved a few days ago on Jan 4 and I have to say it's been pretty frustrating so far. I haven't had solid food in days and the liquids I can take forever to drink because I get a stomachache if I don't take tiny sips. It feels like I'll never be able to eat or drink normally again. Obviously I don't wanna go back to my old binge eating habits, but for those who've been sleeved a while, does it get better? Like will there come a time where it doesn't take hours to finish a glass of Water or I can have a reasonable portion of food without it being painful? I could really use some encouragement. Thanks! 15. Hello guys! I'm brand new to the forums; I just got my surgery date for January 2017. I'm mostly very excited, but I've also been feeling a bit nervous lately when I think about others reactions when they hear I'm doing this- particularly my family. I know that at the end of the day, it's my body and my choice, but it's still definitely discouraging to get negative reactions from people who I love and care for very much and I know they feel the same way about me. Most people I've told have been supportive and thankfully this includes my immediate family and closest friends- people who matter the most. However, I've had some less than positive reactions from a couple members of my extended family. They distrust doctors/medicine and insist that I should just "try harder" to lose the weight through diet and exercise. I have a very large extended family that I see relatively often, so just thinking about all the reactions (positive and negative) I'm going to have to deal with is starting to feel overwhelming. A bit of background, I am on the young side (20 years old), so I understand that my choice can be hard to accept. Also, my whole life, I've always done everything "the right way". I've always gotten excellent grades and been on honor roll. Right now I'm a junior in college studying neuroscience. I've never gotten into any kind of trouble, never had issues with behavior. I've never had to deal with anyone in my family thinking negatively about my life and so I'm just having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that some people I care about very much are going to be disappointed with me. Even if they'll eventually "get over it", it's still hard. Basically, I'm just wondering if anyone has any general advice or would like to share their experience with friends and family finding out. Specifically, how did you respond to people who insisted you should just "lose the weight naturally"?
