eso reacted to edodd in Before and After PicsToday is my one year surgiversary! 11/17/15 - the day I chose to take my life back and learn to put myself first again. #tbt to both the biggest challenge and best year of my life. I am forever grateful for all of the support I have been given by so many wonderful people in my life - doctors, an amazing nutritionist, counselor, friends, colleagues, students/athletes, and, most importantly, family. I could not have accomplished my goals without their constant love and support. Here's to an even better 2017. #2016ismyyear #hardworkpaysoffs #healthierandhappier #110lbdifference

eso reacted to BigViffer in Before and After PicsHey! We had the same starting weight! But you are taller than I and you beat my 1 year weight loss. I didn't hit my goal of 220 until about 15 months I think. Congrats!

eso reacted to Tiffykins in Need IdeasChili, chicken/tuna/egg salad flavored with mayo/miracle whip/greek yogurt with a little ranch dip packet sprinkled in, refried Beans, steamed/cooked broccoli/cauliflower with cheese sauce. Green Giant makes these "Just for one" microwavable servings, and they are perfect sized. I love buy and eat the broccoli and cauliflower with cheese. Ricotta cheese can be baked in the oven then add some marinara, or you can microwave it also. Look on here under the Recipe section, maybe there are some ideas in there as well.
On mushies, essentially that I could blend or pulse in the food processor was game. I could have super soft meats on mushies as well.
I would say 90% of wls patients experience a stall between the 2-6 week post-op time frame. Just keep following your program, drink your fluids, get in your Protein, and give your body some time to adjust to this enormous change.

eso reacted to nikkib in Need IdeasHi Randi,
I am two weeks out tomorrow and I have been trying more new things as I have been super bored too!! I have tried refried Beans with cheese and greek yogurt as the sour cream(Its high in Protein and similar taste to sour cream) Also yogurt, ricotta cheese with spagetthi sauce and mozzerella, SF hot cocoa, today I made beef stew and cut the meat super tiny and cooked it all day so the beef pcs and veggies were super soft and that went down really well. Hope this helps!

eso reacted to lml32937 in Need A New ForumI became a vegetarian POST op and am loving my new life- I eat absolutely NO meat and only get my protein from plant based diet. I have never felt better...
-
eso reacted to lml32937 in Need A New ForumI eat a lot of grains- steel cut oats, quinoa and tofu, I eat a lot of the morningstar burgers and meatless chicken- I also make green smoothies with spinach or kale and fruit- I eat a lot of beans, hummus, eggplant- I did a 21 day vegan challenge and kept with it- they issued a bunch of recipes and that helped a lot since it was all new to me- It was not and is not hard and I dont miss meat at all... I am always full and have to forcemyslef to eat most days but I feel 100% better overall...
I eliminated dairy out of my diet but twice a month I eat string cheese or queso blanco and/or yogurt just for something different but I use almond milk or hazelnut milk daily.
If we eat out and there are no vegetarian options I will eat fresh fish if I am not in the mood for a salad but that has been rare... and you have to be careful eating out- Texas Roadhouse has really good baked potatoes and sweet potatoes BUT they are cooked in bacon grease/fat- so not vegetarian and you wouldnt know unless you ask and ask and ask....

eso reacted to Lissa in Why Am I Feeling Light Headed?Bcole, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, if you ARE dehydrated and you're dehydrated enough to feel light-headed, it's already time to call the doctor. You will not be able to re-hydrate your body on your own. In fact, if you go today, it may be a simple matter of an IV. If you wait, you may end up hospitalized for days, or you could have other health problems that are triggered by the dehydration.
Please call your doctor this morning and let him or her evaluate you.... and let us know what s/he says. Please?

eso reacted to Happy Camper in Why Am I Feeling Light Headed?I agree with Lissa, dehydration may be sneaking in if you are not getting your fluids in or another concern could be your potassium level. Good to call doc and let them guide you.
Best to you.
