March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
my last fill was 9/19/08, and I have very good restriction, maybe at times too much restriction. Last night i had a few bites of chicken and a few bites of lamb. I know I chewed all very well. But I am in pain. No sleep last night, feel like some thing is stuck.. getting a bit better. I have never had this before. Contemplating calling my doctor later today and see what she has to say. Has anyone else experience this feeling for more than a short time period?

March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD
I think there are alot of us that are hitting a plateau. I have lost 3 # in the past 7 weeks. but with physical therapy my body is "reshaping" itself. If it wasn't for the flab around my middle I could get into a size 12 pant easily..but I think of where I was this time last year and just smile at how far I have come.. I do not need a fill as I can barely get 1/4-1/2 cup of food in at a sitting. and that depends on the consistency of the meal. chicken tonight was tough to get in 2 oz. This site is definitely my shoulder to cry on and I thank everyone that allows us to moan and groan and Celebrate..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Katy - good luck with your surgery Hernia repair - I had a larger hiatel hernia repaired at time of LB surgery also. I think I had more discomfort than others afterwards, but it passed soon. I also think my recovery time was a bit longer because of the repair. Afterwards I no longer needed my nexium for acid reflux and have had no issues related to that. Fills- I am almost half filled in my 14cc band and feel great restriction now. Usually 1/4-1/2 cup max at a meal.. and always protein first. Next appointment is end of December and not sure a fill will be needed then, just have to wait and see. Last night I was at a Moroccan Restaurant where they bring things out on a platter and you use a flat bread to pick up the food. I ate slow, had a taste of everything and managed well. It was an interesting meal, but very good and it stretched out over 2 hours.

Time to get rid of excess candy!! Have a bit left after last night. PLan on taking it into work on Monday and letting everyone there have a go at it. I did have a few "fun" size Hershey bars, but no more.. Have to go out and walk a little bit extra this weekend. :cursing: I go to my PCP Monday and get checked in for my BP with her, It has been at a great place for the past 6 months, so looking forward to hearing her remarks. I have not lost any weight in the past month, but have toned up alot. People I see think I have still lost more..so feeling good Have a great weekend everyone..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
CANDY - Just bit left here after the gang came by last night. I did have a few "fun" size bars as a treat, but anything left heads off to work on Monday and will be out of my sight YIPPEE!! My grandson totally refused to get dressed in his costume last night. He is 3 years old and all he would say is "NO", "No way", after trying to persuade him we all gave up and just shrugged our shoulders. He would have been so cute as Spiderman Maybe next year!! A busy weekend ahead. Will check in and see how everyone is doing..Enjoy :cursing:

Any locals?
for your first fill, you will have the area numbed with a local anesthetic, then the needle for the fill is put in place, it all depends on how you are doing, the type of band you have and how aggressive the DR wants to be. I have the AP Large band, 14cc and had a 4cc fill my first time. I had Dr. Wynn for surgery and all appts except one, and that was with Dr. Iragau, he seemed mice, but I still prefer Dr. Wynn, just a personla preference

POPCORN - I went to the movies the other night and it was free popcorn night. I haven't had popcorn in ages. So I figured I would go for it. Well, I paid the next day. As for my regularity, UGH.. I think as much as I like popcorn I will have to pass on it..but the movies was great. I saw the Duchess. And for eating too fast. I had 3 bites of very moist flounder the other night and was in agony for an hour. I didn't think I ate it too fast, but I must have,. I tried walking around my house to try and help relieve the discomfort without much relief. Later that night I relaxed with some Healthwise hot chocolate and that was great!!!! My restriction now is great, as my Doctor said I am now in the zone. but not losing any weight and that is still frustrating!

Halloween Candy - I just buy what I don't like!!!!! I did look up M&M's, a fun size bag is only 65 calories, for those hungry for a bit of chocolate.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Catch Up!!! I was in LBT withdrawal. all I wanted to do was get on here and read and post. But the site had a different idea!!! Glad it is back on line. Realize band - another difference in the Realize band is that the port is a lower profile. I was to have the Realize band, but my doctor was just learning the placement/ surgery techniques for it when I had my surgery and the "proctor" was not available that day. She gave me the option to reschedule my surgery or get the AP band. Well, since I was banded in March, you all know my choice!!!! Glad to see the board so active after the down time yesterday.

Rain and Cold!!!! Well, if any one is watching the World Series, you know what my weather is. Philly was terrible last night and more of the same today. My daughter was at the game and said it was brutal, rain, wind, cold. but she will be back tomight if they are able to get the game completion in. Me, I am watching from the comfort of my living room. Frustrated with this plateau. no matter waht I try I am not losing... Any suggestions to boost my system???

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
It sure has been quiet. I am glad to not have too many posts to read when I get online, but do miss everyone's comments, successes and questions. I am still VERY restricted, last fill was 9/19. sometimes only a few bites and I am full, but still hungry!!! Even the usual slider foods can be a problem.. I saw my surgeon last week and she said everything was ok.. so I guess this may be my sweet spot or I am in the ZONE as my DR says. Hope everyone is ok, just busy.

I can't make the meeting tomorrow night, but wish I could. I am getting frustrated. I have not lost in 3 weeks. I am only able to eat 1/4 - 1/2 cups at a time. Am getting in my exercise. I am totally happy with my weight loss so far, but as I said the stop in the loss is frustrating. I know it is pretty normal to hit these plateaus. I did see a pre-op picture od myself today. Holy crap. I was amazed at what I looked like. I hope to get an up to date pic soon and will post both..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
I just saw a picture taken of me before surgery. Oh, my God. I am shocked. I know I was big, but the picture is a solid piece of evidence of how much I weighted. Now I need a picture taken for my current size. I still have 3o# to go, but feel so much better and think I look "fantastic". Once I get a new picture I'll post the before and after..

I do drink soda occassionally, but only when there is nothing else available.. Also, coffee was to be a no-no, but my surgeon told me if it didn't bother me to go ahead and drink it. It makes my mornings so much more bearable, having the morning cup!!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
Janet, hugs to you. As so many others I also lost my sister recently. January 2008, it was sudden and so unexpected.. I hope you are doing better. Life goes on and we all have to move with it. My deepest sympathy to you in your loss.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
I have never had any pain with my fills either. The doctor give s a bit of a local anesthetic then one more prick and the fill is done. I have not had any done under fluor either. My issue recently is just some tenderness in the port area. Doctor appt today so will ask on it then.

He returns...Welcome back!!! Sorry to hear you are having such issues... another fill hopefully will help that situation!!!! Hope all has been well with you! We haven't seen you for quite a bit! Anxious to hear how the fill goes. I go to my DR today, but not anticipating a fill. Since last fill, 9/19, I have had great restriction. It seems odd to me with an APL band and not even filled half way!! But I'll take it!! :Dancing_biggrin: Usually I eat no more than 1/2 cup..Of course there are those foods that allow me to get a bit more in!. I have noticed a bit of a weigght gain, just a few pounds, but am attributing that to my recent//on-going physical therapy for my knee..

Tess - I too have had some discomfort in the port area. It is sensitive if i gently push on it. I am going to DR on Tuesday and will ask her then. I knowI do not need a fill this time. I can eat no more than 1/2 cup at a time. seems to have held at this point for the past month....
