    November sleevers?

I'm in November too. Not sure yet of my date. Probably the 3rd week or so. Waiting on insurance approval and a date now. Very nervous. Very scared. Very excited. Will look for the Facebook group.

  6. Ok... So my hair isn't really long or luscious but it's all I've got. It's very fine but I've got quite a bit of it. So what can I expect post surgery? From what I've been reading hair loss happens about 4 months out. Are we talking chunks falling out and bald spots to cover? I'm just trying to wrap my head around it. First appointment with surgeon: 8/26 Psych evaluation: 8/29 Upper GI: 9/2 Nutrition Class: 9/6 Final Psych appointment: 9/16 - cleared Metabolic and Exercise Test: scheduled for 9/27 No surgery date yet Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  10. So on Monday I had my psychiatric evaluation that I believe I passed with flying colors. However, afterwards I was extremely drained. I came home that night in panic about having this surgery. I told myself that I can't do this. I can never NOT have pizza again EVER! And what about my coffee? I love coffee! And then she mentioned my hair may fall out in Patches and be quite noticeable. She scared me. And it worked. I then googled every complication I could possibly have (and I do not recommend doing that). Then there is Friday... And I feel better about it. I had an upper GI because the surgeon wants to make sure my reflux is under control since there is a chance it may get worse after the surgery. And today I read many success stories about people who thought it was the best decision ever made. Why am I so wishy washy? Does everyone get like this? The constant going back and forth. And in the meantime I am miserable in my own skin. Next week on Tuesday is my first nutrition class. I hope to meet others who are going through the same emotions as I am. I'm also having dinner on Tuesday evening with an acquaintance who has had the sleeve in the past year. My plan is to take 6 weeks of work to concentrate on me and my health. I have a pretty stressful job. Only a few family members and one close friend will know the actual surgery I had. And I worry about whether I can keep up the lie at work. Some are quite nosey. Did anyone else lie to those at work? What did you say when they asked what kind of surgery you had? Thank you for reading. Feedback on any of these issues is greatly appreciated. Jen
  11. As I sit here this beautiful and sunny Labor Day relaxing in my sunroom with my coffee, I have to ask....Will I still enjoy my coffee after surgery? Why is it that there is a no caffeine rule? What about decaf coffee? I quit smoking a couple of years ago and coffee is my new vice. I really enjoy it and I think I'd be ok if it was decaf. What are your thoughts? Do you still drink coffee?

@@JamieLogical You are such an inspiration. I am just starting my WLS journey and I have so many concerns and worries. I just looked back at your entire story and it has helped me tremendously. So many emotions that you yourself also went through. Thank you for taking the time to continue your story after the surgery. I look forward to keeping up with your continued progress in the months and years to come. Jen
  24. @@CLN.BK Thank you. So how do you feel now? When did you have surgery and when do you go back to work?
  25. Hi! I'm JenRae and I am new to the site. I wanted a place to be able to track my thoughts and feelings as I go through my journey as well as get feedback from others who have been where I am now. I've been to the WLS seminar and I just had my first appointment with the surgeon who said I am a good candidate for the sleeve surgery. The only concern he had was that I have acid reflux and he said that it can sometimes get worse after surgery. So I do have to have an upper GI soon. I really liked him. I had a ton of questions for him and he patiently answered them all. He and his staff both seem to be very nice. I weigh 250 lbs and my goal healthy weight for my height is around 150. So 100 lbs to lose! Tomorrow is my appointment with the counselor. And I have a nutrition class scheduled on September 6th. Doc said it could be as early as only 2 months before the surgery. Wow! So maybe an October 2016 surgery date? Looking for encouragement and friends as I embark on my sleeve journey! Thanks for reading, Jenny
