So mad at myself for regain

I am in the same place & totally beside myself. I lost 60lbs from sleeve and felt amazing. but have gained back 25 in the 2.5 years. It’s been a steady rise and I keep watching it, and then getting crazed, but then letting it slide. My wine consumption is a big problem. Starting to feel embarrassed about it and shame. I have been on this path so many times just feeling so low. Trying to regroup and get myself back in the right mindset. Hope you can do it too.

    Annoyed....

I'm also stalled again too so I feel your pain. So frustrating! I keep getting afraid I will stop losing. Only have about 30lbs to go. Definitely causes u to play mind games. check out Dr. Duc Voung - Bariatric surgeon. Look him up on FB. He says not to work out after surgery. Explains a bit about the physiology etc. It goes against what we're told - but check out some of his videos/ advice. I had been stalled and pressuring myself at the gym to get out of a recent stall. When I listened to him-- reduce/ remove dairy, don't go to gym - my stall ended & 3.5 lbs vanished. Of course now I'm stalled again. But I think he has excellent advice. Good luck. Also, that sounds like way too few calories to me. I'm trying to stay focused on foods & nutrients and not calories.

    STALL BROKEN! HELLO ONEDERLAND

Oh a huge congratulations to you! I'm almost there and dying with stalls. I so envy you. Keep up the good work!
  4. I had vsg early March and unfortunately suffered a staple line leak. It was discovered in the eve after the surgery when I passed out trying to get up from bed. Ended up having to have 2 units of blood transfused. It was so scary. Then the am went back into surgery to have it repaired. & then 2 more units of blood. I also had a hernia repair. Stayed I hospital for 4 days. It was such a traumatic experience. I went back to work from home at week 2. Then fairly quickly went back to work in the office and doing normal life. Problem is that after having to travel for work a few times, and doing every day life stuff I've become so fatigued & worn out I can barely function. I am trying to figure out what is going on. If it's stress that pushed me over the edge, or my body just not able to handle it. I had all my blood work done & thyroid checked etc, and all checks out normal. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar. The exhaustion is so bad. My body practically aches. I'm working from home for the next few weeks to try & regain strength. Anyone have anything similar? Thanks

    Surgery day fears

Aww, the waiting is the absolute worst. So many days & hours to fill with fearful thoughts. I'm sorry your going through that. I did too. I felt better after watching tons of YouTube videos of people's experiences. Seeing them as they go through all the phases in the hospital then going home etc. helped me mentally prepare. Just keep talking about it & trying to remember to breath. You will get through this & be so relieved and then happy with your decision. Best of luck to you.

    Mental preparation?

Congratulations on your decision to do wls. It is definitely a lot of heavy emotional lifting. And I agonized over that part. But I can tell you it's so worth it. If you can start identifying the emotions that are driving your eating that will help. And your patterns too. I was so freaked out about the emotional stuff too. And I'll say it's not quite as bad as I feared. However, I've done a lot of therapy. I wonder if you have Mom issues like me. Seems like so many of us do. That was one of the roots of my eating problems. I'm still working on it. But it's more manageable. The surgery will lead to a mind set shift due to the restriction. And that will help tremendously. But you have to change your relationship to food for good. Your trips to the supermarket will be very different. You'll just learn day by day. You can do it. If I can anyone can! Reach out if you have any questions. I'm 3 mos out and down about 50 lbs (40 since surgery). Best of luck. P.s. Using these forums and doing support groups really help too.

    How much time?

Agree, you'll need a week. You'll be so tired you just want / need to sleep a lot.
  8. I got so sick of those too. Try fairlife milk chocolate, 2tbsp peanut butter, 1 tbsp Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup ice. Blend and it's awesome. Almost like a Wendy's frosty. Also, the Atkins strawberry shakes are ok - 15g protein. But all the pre made shakes get old fast. Good luck.
  9. I'm so glad for this topic. I've been having an awful time with anxiety. Esp. As the days draw closer. In fact Sat night I was having bad PMS & feeling sick w/ worry. Ended up throwing up & staying in bed next day. the fear is terrible. Glad to hear others struggling with the same thing. I think I'm mostly scared about after the after surgery. How I'll feel, pain, getting used to only eating clears, sipping Water, then mushy... I think it's going to be so tough & scary.

    Very minor annoyance

I have the same problem! I'm getting surgery in about a month and have been in need of pants for a while. I went to try a cheap pair a few weeks ago that were on sale then got upset w/ how I looked I didn't get them. I So can't wait to be on the other side of this surgery. 12. Looks like this is an older kind of extinct group but hoping some others will help me resurrect it. Hard being single & doing this alone. Don't have any friends or family who have gone thru or can relate. My surgery is 2/7/2017. Can't get here fast enough. Anyone else out there?!

Friday day of pre op diet. Already bummed

I'm so afraid of the liquid stage I start in about 3 weeks. I wish you lots of luck. I get really emotional & down when I'm a long time between normal meals. My surgeon requires a skim milk diet for 2 weeks. I think it's insane. I know I'm going to switch in protein shakes occasionally to get me through. Anyone else have to do this milk diet? I've already lost 14 lbs and am now technically a bmi of 39.
  14. Same with me. I'm scheduled for 2/7 and it's been an emotional rollercoaster. And I'm single so that is making me anxious too. I a few have friends around to help me. But wish I was closer to family that I could depend on. The pre op diet for me is all liquid for 2 weeks. I don't know how I'm going to manage with that. All overwhelming. Good to hear from others feeling the same.

    Pre-op visit

You are so lucky. I'm freaking out because I have a 2 week liquid diet, and an endoscopy this coming fri. Plus, making me use cpap for sleep apnea. I'm scheduled for 2/7 surgery. Freaking out -- today mainly about the liquid diet. I know I can get depressed & unhinged w/out food when I'm stressed. Ugh. Want this over.
