  1. NO clue but I can not wait to find out.. By the way JACQUI, I sleep with a pillow between my knees...have since childhood...I must have had knobby knees then! I also use a pillow between my feet...can't stand them touching! Truth be told, I have a pillow by my stomach sorta under the girls (boobs) and them one on the small of my back....and under my head and....OK so I am a pillow freak! Good thing my DH doesn't mind cause I am NOT a snuggler! Except my poodle thinks I am! LOL
  2. Hang in there!!! The wait is harder than the surgery....just be sure to walk around as soon as you can...I had NO gas pains and only one time felt naseaus sp?.....and that was after they switched my pain med...so I got up and walked and felt better in 5 minutes...so walk walk walk.... There was a guy in the room next to mine...his surgery was before mine and I was walking before he was...I could hear jim moaning and groaning the whole time...our nurse said..."hey go walk into his room and suggest that he walk with you around the hall circle"...LOL OH, I did go in!!!! Finally, he got up and we walked...too funny! Good Luck
  3. For those of you feelong depressed because you are waiting for a fill...I KNOW....I need one too....I have been fighting hunger all week and I even gained some weight back this week...I did better before the surgery! I must admit, I was sorta told to stay in bed a get over my psoriasis outbreak this week...so, I definitely didn't move as much and thought about food/tv commercials way toooooo much!
  4. I'm glad people gave you some good advice Nikki..... I am gaining this week! UGH....ever since I went on that antibiotic....
  5. HI...I FEEL YOU ITCH!!! I am suffering from what I called hives but it is really like chicken bumps...and it ITCHES!!! I may be who betrthnever is talking about..she's a friend of mine!.. Anyhoo, I went to the derm and I have now been diagnosed with psoriasis...I had several skin issues this past year...now I know why! The doc..surgeon..said the other day that the stress of surgery AND the fact that I have an inert thing in me...the band...my immunities are trying to eat it up...My port incision is taking forever to heal...IN fact I may not get my fill on Wedsday because of it...bummer for me... BUT...I am getting better....slowly...I have had this since the day after surgery...they thought at first it was the pain reliever...Loritab can cause itches.. Anyway..it is traveling my ENTIRE BODY...now it is on my forearms, calves, groin etc...but the chest area is better..oh yea...you should have seen my scalp..I was snowing! So, MY ADVICE...GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST...I waited too long..I have seen my surgeon every week for 4 weeks LOL.... Good Luck and pm me if needed! Shelley
  6. I felt a bit like that at about 3 weeks out...I had worked hard to "get" to surgery and then BOOM and then it was like a let down....I was so focused from December 2007 until my 5/28/08 date... So, try and imagine and visualize yourself in control...be it in the car and NOT driving into Taco Bell or what ever your triggers are.... I am sipping hot herbal tea right now and typing this to you because my head is saying..go eat something right now...so believe me, it isn't easy right now. Good Luck and keep writing and reading!
  7. You sound like you'll be just fine...use the ice pack or heating pad...which ever you prefer for the port pain!
  8. You are not failing! I was going down on the scale and got sick and now I amup 5 lbs again....but...we have no resriction yet...right...and our bodies are healing...so that is why this is called "Bandster Hell". Start now and decide to do your best each day to make good food choices...I know I am startng over tomarrow...today was fair and yesterday was bad...tomarrow will be great!
  9. Well Sue, that is almost here! I bet I don't get my fill on Wednesday because my port incision is still not healed up....So frustrating!
  10. i get my first fill today & i am quite excited although very nervous!! wish me luck Let us know how it goes! Good Luck.. Hey Band Sister, I am doing ok...this week has definiteybeen harder could it be because it has beena month so my head is saying....wow..."eat that, it has been a month, you've been so good..." So, I am trying to make good choices and practice my mindful eating...I have been playing with like 3 pounds too! Down...UP...Down...UP...It is most likely due to water retention! Take Care all, Shelley:redface:
  11. Sherry...the candles must have worked if you are a Mom to twins!! LOL I am a mom to twins too but I didn't birth them...(my huband's kids) Anyway, I dated as a Big Beautiful Girl in my late 20's and 30's....I was not even that heavy...about 190 - 220...compared to my starting point here...311...anyway... I still dated a ton...no pun intended....so, the point is...be who you are and if they don't like it then kick 'em to the curb! I remember this one guy who was very into me...and then one day said he just never thought he would date a larger girl...ok, so I'm thinking why did you ask me out...like as a freak experiment?... Anyhoo, I told him he was entitled to his opinion and if he felt that way, go...I was not desperate for a date....Well, long story short...about 6 months later he calls me up and says how he missed me and Blah Blah Blah...I told him I was engaged...which I was!...he was shocked..."yes billy boy, fat girls get engaged!" Sorry about calling myself that but you get what I mean??? I have to admit, his call made my day!!! OK so here is the funny part....about ten years later I'm out to eat with my husband and who should I run into? YEP, him...and he was with a date who looked like my twin! Hmmm.... Good Luck with the dating and be picky because you are you...thick or thin...your lifestyle has most likely changed so find someone that is compatable with the healthy lifestyle....
  12. Sorry you are not doing well Nikki...but I am glad you posted today...I have no advice from expierence but...I do owe you some...my doc makes you do 3 days of liquids after a fill..I think day 1 is clear only....The swelling may be what is causing your hunger...I mean...your stomache is mad at you so it is growling too??? Take it easy on the food and keep hydrated...
  13. Ok...I just read this thread and I feel like I have no band.... I mean....I am 4 weeks out....did the soft thing and have followed drs... orders but after about 10 days I could most likely have eaten anything...don't get me wrong, I didn't try...but I know it is different for everyone....I have had no problem with fish, artichoke hearts, shrimp....cooked broccoli....get the picture? I KNOW I don't have any fill in a 9cc band....I know the doc said it fit me great...so why are so many people having issues so soon? I know...be thankful and keep practicing for when I do have restriction.... My only issue is that my incision is healing so slowly...I feel like my innards are healed???
  14. Laura, I just checked out your blog....You have done a great job! Thanks for sharing....your trip with the girls sounded fun too! Shelley
  15. Good Luck with your first fills!
  16. Linksmom.....Buy a Wii Fit if you can find one it's so fun you don't know you are working out until the next day when every muscle in you body hurts. I agree! That is what I want to get...my family wants one too!
  17. anavrin - Hang in there...although my ticker says down 45 I've only lost 10 since surgery....I go up and down.....The other weight I lost at the start of the "process" which is officially Dec. 11th, 2007... I have had no fill and have no restriction....I know how it feels!
  18. Bexter....careful with the gum...if you swallow it....I've been told it is not good...especially at restriction..... NOt that I have restriction yet!
  19. I am happy for all of you waiting!!!! I know how hard it was but it will be here before you know it!!! WOOHOO for all of YOU!!!! Best of Luck, Shelley
  20. Wanda...thanks for posting...glad you were on top of things.... I had surgery (hysterectomy) last year in June and went home with Lovenox shots... After band surgery I know I was given 3 heparin shots but that was it.... I walked a ton and avoided the gas pains and hopefully anything else... What worries me is that they told us in our pre op class that you are at risk for clots up to 3 months after surgery!!! So, I guess I need to follow the advise to keep moving and no crossing the legs...like that isn't even comfortable for my tree trunks anyway...LOL Good Luck everyone! Shelley
  21. Good Luck with that! I hope to have my first fill soon...it was supposed to be next week but my port incision is still not healed! UGH!!!! I agree, this week has been very HARD!!! Let me know how it goes!
  22. Christine said, "My surgeon decides which band to use according to which he feels fits better when he is "in there". I wound up with a Realize band on 5/28/2008. The post-op was gasey but not very painful. I am still only dealing with head hunger and am fine on 1/2 cup of puree three times a day. As long as I make sure I get the right amount of Protein I feel great." :blushing: We have the same band day...do you Realize that? LOL I do not have any restriction anymore but I am trying to be good. This week has been very hard...all in the head...you know, one month out etc.... Keep in touch, Shelley:biggrin2:
  23. How did I miss this thread? I was banded May 28th and it was the Realize band. I wish my doc had started with a fill in it....I was due to have my first fill next week but my port incision is slow to heal....I had some psoriasis issues...never knew I had it but surgery brought it out...Lucky me.....anyhoo... I will most likely not get my first fill July 2nd as planned but hopefully soon there after....:blushing: Otherwise, I am doing fine...hopeyou all are too!
  24. Glad we could inspire you! When you are done..come help me at my house!! LOL
