  1. I am glad to hear you got a job. Back in the day, I was a telephone operator.....I know about no breaks. In fact, that is a contributing factor to me eating so fast. It is a hard habit to break. Just drink as much protein as you can during the day. Have you tried those protein bullets? I think GNC has them. Carbs make me hungrier. I wish you well on your new job.:crying:
  2. Janet, I am just checking in. I have been enjoying navy beans again. That is my new favorite food. I did try to eat a piece of toast today and it got stuck. I can eat hamburger buns, biscuits, rolls, and tortillas, but not bread. I have one more week until a fill. I really need one.
  3. AWESOME WEIGHTLOSS! Wow! I wish I could claim that loss. I finally lost 40 and now working on my next 10. I have been sidetracked by celebrating at weddings and birthday parties. I think we all have alot to be proud of. :crying:
  4. Wow! What a cruise. I saw the cars on TV. They were smashed together when the surge went over them. Then to get dumped in New Orleans without help. Sounds like quite a trip. Most of the fences and roofs in our neighborhood were damaged, but we only lost a shingle. You are doing good. I counted my pre-op weight loss so it seems like more since my surgery. Every ounce counts on this journey. I hope your rash improves. Maybe anxiety over this car thing started it. It would give me a rash.
  5. I hope your car did not get damaged. Yep, I was kinda hoping this would be easier too. My doctor said with exercise and a little hard work I would be successful. I am walking everyday, and it does help. I am getting my 4th fill on the 20th and boy do I need it. I can eat more than a cup of food. I just have to practice self-control and stop. It is frustrating. I just wish I would get a full feeling.
  6. WELCOME FLOWERS! I am in Texas too. Pearland , Tx....just south of Houston. Girl, jump on in. I am sorry you felt ignored. There are a few veteran lap-banders on this thread and can give you alot of tips and advice. I am learning too.
  7. Wow! My doctor gives free fills for 90 days. My son, said he found fills for $250. You might want to shop around. There are places that just do fills. I think they advertise on LBT.
  8. I know what you mean about the sliming and vomitting. I actually forgot about the band a couple of days ago and ate a chicken leg. Started sliming and my chest was hurting. Then I vomitted a couple of times and the food must have dislodged. Then the pain stopped. It is all about the chewing, but when I am really hungry I tend to forget about the band and then I am reminded. OUCH!
  9. Just wait till you get my age, everything goes south. For right now I am glad I am losing in my chest.....I can breathe alot better. Your right though, the only thing getting bigger is my stomach below my waist. YUK!
  10. Girls, thanks for all the praise. It is ssssoooooooooo encouraging!
  11. Yea!!!!!!!!!! I have finally lost forty lbs. I wish it were fifty. I may not be a power loser, but at least I am a loser. Only with weight loss is being called a LOSER is a good thing!
  12. Janet, I walked this morning, journaled my food and babysat. My daughter herniated a disk and needs surgery in the next week. She has nerve damage. She will have to stay with us and I will care for her and the new grand daughter. She cannot lift or bend for a month. I have herniated disks too, but not as bad as hers. That was the main reason I got the band. I am so thankful I have taken a few lbs off. I haven't cared for a newborn 24/7 since my daughter was a baby with the exception of the first week of my grandchildren's lives. This will be a challenge. I may have to vent if I get time between feedings and diaper changing. Janet, thanks for being here for us. You are a Gem!
  13. For what it is worth.....We are all proud of you! We are trying to follow your lead. I know you want approval from your parents....that is in the heart of every child. I fortunately have a 100lb,85 yr old mother that thinks I hung the moon. I have a hard time receiving her unconditional love because I don't think I deserve it. So, I guess we all have hang ups....that's why we gained alot of weight.....got banded....and now we all ended up here together trying to figure it all out. As we peel the lbs off, maybe we will get some answers. I know for the first time in my life I am passionate about losing weight and feeling good. I feel I have alot more to offer this world.
  14. I take Miralax everyday with no problems. It disolves in water and doesn't have a taste.
  15. I am in Pearland too. I live off of 518 near Old Manvel Rd. If you want to talk....PM me and I will give you my email and number. We are all in the same boat. I can relate to what you and our area has gone through. It's enough to make an anorexic eat. Don't beat yourself up. Just remember, everyday is a new day and a new beginning.
  16. I am so sorry for your loss......I will be praying for you and your family.
  17. Girl, your parents will love your new body. They will be proud of you!
  18. Congrats! on your approval. I hope you get a date soon.
  19. Girl, I vomited, but it didn't come up. It did dislodge the food. I just ate a Lean Cuisine.....so I am back from that horrible experience.:crying:
  20. Well, I am sure they will approve you. Just have patience. It took me from January to July to have surgery. I had to go to nutrition classes, write down everything I ate, and had a bunch of tests. I had to do those things to satisfy the ins co. It is worth it . It gives you time to adjust to good eating habits and make sure you want the surgery. We are here to support you.
  21. You will do fine.....the key is following the dr's orders. Today, I did not chew chicken well enough and wow, it got stuck. It hurts!....so just chew , chew, chew! Every doctor is different on their scheduling. I did not get a date until six weeks after I finished all my paper work. When I went for my pre-op diet, I had surgery two weeks later.. are you private pay or insurance? It makes a difference.
  22. Thanks, I am just sipping in Tea now. I am just a little sore. I might have a shake later and eat this evening. I have gotten stuck , but not like this.....I had to throw up to move things around. I hope I don't ever do that again. LESSON LEARNED!
  23. Well, I did it.....I guess I just PB'D. OMG....it hurt so bad.....I couldn't throw it up....and it would not go down. I know chicken can get stuck, but this was a first and I hope last time. I just forgot and started chewing on a chicken leg. CHEW! CHEW! CHEW! I hope I never forget what that felt like. IF you vomit and the food doesn't come up , is it just stuck or is that a PB? Anyway, I have stopped sliming and the pain in my chest is gone. Should I just stay on shakes and liquids today?
  24. Well, I had a challenging weekend. I went to a bakery, bought a b-day cake for my mother and a cupcake for me. So, I ate that on saturday, then went to a wedding , but did not overeat or eat cake. Today, had a birthday party for my mother and I did eat cake. I am not going to weigh till thursday. I just need a few days to get back on track. Those "special days" come and go. It is just life, so I have to compensate for those days by cutting down on the carbs and eating more protein. I want to lose 3 lbs this week. It may sound like a lofty goal, but I am up for it. Thanks to all of you for the support. I couldn't go through this journey without support.:tt2:
  25. All I can say is welcome! We are all on this journey. We all struggle. I do best when I journal everything that goes in my mouth. I try not to go over 1200cal a day. Sometimes I go over, and sometimes it is less. I try to eat 60g of protein a day, and drink at least 48oz of liquid a day. My weight is not going down as fast as I thought it would, but each ounce is one I don't ever want to see again. Most of us started this journey because of health issues. Yours seems to be more painful than most, but hang in there.....you have a tool to help you reach a goal that would have been impossible without the band. We are here for support.:tongue2:
