Some advice/suggestions needed!
Hi all! So I will be traveling (by car) to get my surgery done (I'm getting SIPS a modified version of the switch) and I'm driving 4 hours. Im a little worried mostly about gas pains and not being able to pull over often to walk them out. Are their any comfort measures anyone could suggest it'd be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Wish I could change surgeons
Yeah I figure it's all about the money too. It's good to see some people only see their surgeon a handful of times. I was discouraged seeing others on here saying how they love their surgeons and how amazing they are, but I guess at the end of the day all there job is to do is complete the surgery. Wish I could change surgeons
Wow lol that's insane, my surgeon oddly only does surgery on mondays update though she emailed me back and said she got my papers, so hopefully they'll be submitted now. I know they hate people bugging but with the experience I've had I plan on staying on top of them Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Wish I could change surgeons
Yeah I met with the PA and she was the one that made it seem like I would be only seeing her for my follow ups, but yeah I'm going to stay on top of them. I feel this delay has pushed me back because I was hoping to get surgery before the end of the year because I met my deductible, but that's definitely not going to happen now Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Wish I could change surgeons
So frustrated because I feel so in the dark about my insurance approval. The surgeons financial person contacted me last week saying she didn't have my 5 yr weight history. That upset me because when I had my consultation with them I brought all my papers and gave them copies, so I told her I would fax them. I waited two days with no word from her, so I emailed asking if she received, them in which she replied no, so I told her I'd try again if not I'd bring them at my next appointment. (My insurance requires I go to a center of excellence and the closest to me is nearly 300 miles away, so I Couldn't just go and drop that off) luckily my next appointment was only a couple days from when I sent the last email. I go in give it to them the girl makes a copy and says she'd get it to her right away. Even as I was leaving they mentioned how I had gotten all of my paperwork in and they'd submit to insurance that day. Being as impatient as I am I call my insurance today (about two days later) seeing if they received it only to be disappointed that it had not been submitted:/ it's so frustrating because they said they'd send it that day, so I emailed her asking if she received it and now I just wait for a reply. I've had so many ups and downs on this journey, and I feel this surgeons office isn't the best (Idk if this is standard but I only met the surgeon once and they made it seem as if the only other time I'd come in contact with him is surgery day). Had I not have a dumb clause saying I had to go to a center of excellence I definitely would change surgeons, but the next closest one to me is over 500 miles away but I'm trying to stay positive Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Back to work/school?
Personally I'm not getting the sleeve, but my classmate recently did and she only took one week off of school. It's really all depending on the type of work you do and stuff. In her case, school is just walking and sitting so one week was all that she needed. However I'd ask your surgeon just to make sure Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Why can't I get the support I need[emoji17]
Isn't it funny how people are suddenly experts just by knowing someone that had WLS lol if only they'd actually educate themselves Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Why can't I get the support I need[emoji17]
Thank you so much! And you know what I never thought of it that way, but my aunts are overweight and this particular aunt lost a lot of weight but has since gained a good amount back, so you definitely have a valid point. I'm so happy I've found this forum it's been such a huge help:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Why can't I get the support I need[emoji17]
Yeah my mom was a struggle to get on board just because another one of my dumb aunts told her how her coworker gained all her weight back and had sooo many issues, so my mom went to my seminar to learn more, and told her sisters, which I believe why they're all thinking they can have an opinion about it, but I just told my mom stop telling everyone, and it may seem rude, but I also told her I didn't really want her involved in any of it Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Why can't I get the support I need[emoji17]
So I went to my aunts house she tells me my mom told her that I'm having surgery so I was like oh yeah I'm going to I'm just getting everything in order or whatever and telling her stuff and she's like well you know you can't eat this and have to do this and telling me how her coworker got it and stuff, so that automatically makes her an expert. It annoyed me because it's like everyone's expecting me to fail. It makes me so heartbroken more so than mad. Like it's easy to say to myself fuck them don't pay attention to them, but mentally it's really starting to get to me Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Depressed
I agree I'm in the same boat as you and I felt so bad for myself I gained some weight which I feel made it worse, but now I'm practicing stuff like not drinking while eating (I recommend trying this to make it a habit it's super hard IMO) cutting sugar out (I'm a sugar addict) and carbs keeps you focus and you loose the weight:) keep the goal in mid you'll do great! Anyone "loose weight" in the eye area?
So the top of my eyes below my brows are pretty puffy and have always been, and I've attributed it to my weight. I love doing makeup but hate it because of my eyes, did any of you ladies notice any "weight loss" in the eye area, or is this something I'm just doomed with? Here we go!
Exactly, it's so disheartening that people aren't more supportive, especially people that have been pushing for you to loose weight then when you decide to have a little extra help it's a problem. My surgeon warned me of relationship changes, and sad thing is I haven't even had the surgery yet and so many relationships have suffered due to it, but good riddance, if it's my health over a person I'll most definitely choose my health Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Here we go!
I agree, I made the mistake being so excited telling some choice family members and friends, and the responses from most of them were so unreal. It's like they can't phathom you loosing weight. Hearing things like "you're beautiful the way you are" and "don't loose too much weight" took a toll on me, so I decided to not talk about it anymore, but this site def has been a great encourager even through the hard times. You got this! Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Possibly, the information paper my Surgeon gave me says that's what it is, but overall I'm not talking about the traditional one.

loop duodenal switch
That's what my surgeon told me as well. He wants to test my metabolism first to see if I can get sleeved, but I have so much to loose I just don't know if sleeve will be the right option Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
