  1. Doing pretty good - all the nausea and pain are behind me. Now just fighting being weak. Hopefully that will pass before I return to work Tuesday. I stepped on the scale this morning and was stunned to see that I am down 18 pounds from my starting weight! I almost fell off the scale. I'm usually the one who doesn't lose the weight. 2. Omieliz - how are you doing? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I actually feel like im that "one perskn this wont work for" i have honestly tried everything even dr. Bernstein (low carb with injection) sure i starved myself and lost but i gained it all back. I started saving pee becuase they checked if you were in ketosis and all i wanted was a sandwhich! I really hope this process doesnt take more then a year! I feel like ive found somthing tbat might actually force me to eat less and say no. Sent from my SM-N920W8 using the BariatricPal App I also did a low carb/injection deal with a local Dr - I lost the weight but as soon as I stopped the injections and low Carbing it all came back on and more. With this new tool, you're forced to not overeat. I'm happy and e cited that I've virtually made it impossible to sabotage myself! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I am a 52 year old post menopausal woman. No amount of dieting will help me lose the pounds I need to lose - I just can't stick with it. I can sometimes lose but then can't keep it off. I never really felt the feeling of hungry because I was constantly grazing. My surgery was Tuesday. Including the 7 pounds I lost on my own pre-op, I'm down almost 18 pounds 4 days after surgery ... And I'm not hungry. It's got a similar sensation of just after your Thanksgiving meal and someone offers you another piece of pie and it makes you want to throw up. You can easily say no. I am stunned at the difference and was worried I would be the "one" that this wouldn't work on, but so far it's going great. I am still very tired, but my cravings for my favorite foods are gone. I have no desire to really eat any particular thing. I just have a desire to keep my body hydrated and nourished. Hope this helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. My Dr also has me on clear liquids first week. I couldn't stomach the canned broths so I went to Subway and just strained their chicken noodle Soup. I added Isopure Protein to it as well - hoping this will give me some energy. Still weak as a kitten. I agree, 1st few days were tough but doing pretty good today. Return to work on Tuesday. Desk job so should be ok. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I had a few moments last night where I was like, "is it too late to cancel? am I sure I should do this?" Of course I am, but I'm freaking out slightly and surgery is always slightly scary. I'm also excited and ready (especially after these two weeks pre-op). I realize I'll have more emotional moments in the next few weeks, but I'm ready. went to store tonight to pick up some things to have at home when I get back from the hospital. Bought myself two new books and did a bunch of laundry. Tomorrow I was told i could have one Protein shake early morning, but then it was just Clear Liquids until 10pm. Tomorrow will be a fun birthday. How about you? You ready for this thing? Doing good ... Already down 17 pounds since highest weight. Sipping on Subway chicken Noodle now. No real pain anymore, just super tired and moving slow. Thank goodness I don't have to go back to work until Tuesday! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. All August 30 Sleevers, check in! How are you doing? I'm a bit tight and gassy today and the first couple days were a little tough, but I see light at the end of the tunnel. Go back to work on Tuesday. I think today has been hard because I tasted a couple bites of sf pudding last night. Back to clear broths and liquids today. I am down roughly 10 since surfer and 17 total. I am a low BMI sleeved so certainly didn't expect to drop this fast but I'm guessing it will slow up now. How is everyone else doing? 8. Would anyone Successful with their 1 week Post-op diet be willing to post what they are eating/drinking and around what time of day? My Dr prefers clear liquids for 1 full week. I don't really care for beef nor chicken broth. I'm forcing it in along with jello (don't care for that either), so feel like I'm going to starve myself this week unintentionally! I'm also mainly grazing everything, not like meal/snack/meal/snack and so on. Anyone willing to share?
  9. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Just curious if those of us who are post menopausal should expect the hormone issues as well? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Good Luck tomorrow!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I've been looking on Amazon to find a good book for VSG. My surgery is Tuesday. Some seem to lean toward pre-surgery and some post-surgery. Just wondering if anyone has bought a good book they could recommend or if you just preferred reading online. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  15. Dinks97420, let's stay in touch, I'm Tuesday also! Nervous but looking forward to it too .... Terrified of the possible nausea and pain after. Hopefully it won't be there or pass quickly! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. How do you make the protein balls? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. It's crazy to me how different the Dr's do the pre-op. My Dr said for the day before the surgery clear liquids only, so for me that would just be Monday 8/29. This is also same for one week post-op. Clear chicken and beef broth, strained clear Soups, sports drinks, fruit juices (no pulp), apple juice, white grape juice, white cranberry juice, Water, tea, coffee (no cream or milk), koolaids, tang, popsicles, Jello, ice chips. Also the day before, Monday, 4pm and again at 6pm a 10 ounce bottle of magnesium citrate. After midnight, nothing and be at the surgical center at 6am Tuesday. Prior to today for the last week, I've basically just done a combination of Premier Protein shakes, lean meals and food funerals! I've only lost about 9 pounds since I made the decision for VSG, and my ultimate goal is 40-50 pounds. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. Deborah Bennett and maredarlin - it's almost time!!! Are you excited, nervous, packing, drinking your Water? What are you up to? I'm all of that!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Don't beat yourself up --- we are where we are because we struggle with this. You can't just expect because "you're supposed to go liquid for 10 days" that you can just do it immediately. Just pick yourself up and each day do something slightly better than you did it the day before. We can't compare ourselves to perfection. That gets us into trouble every time! Hang in there and keep us posted on how you're doing!! You got this! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Good Luck Jacjac!! We have exact same stats and almost same age! Let me know how you're doing! Tuesday is almost here for me! All paid up and approved and now just need to pack and get some stuff done before I leave. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I completely agree ... I feel like I'd be walking around all day trying to explain myself and being judged. It's only your business. I don't like to lie either but at the same time, that puts their mind at ease for why you're gone, why you're losing and so on. It will be fine, Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Thanks hats123! 8 more days ... I'm nervous but excited to start my new healthy lifestyle. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I'm scheduled for 8/30 - the Dr said 24 hours pre-op Clear liquids only but at 7 days out which is Tuesday, I'm going to start with 2 Protein drinks (Bfast and Dinner) and a healthy lunch, protein first and then vegi's). I gave up soda and have cut back sweets and breads although today and tomorrow I plan on having a couple food funerals. But Tuesday morning, my EYE is on the PRIZE! 24. Dr Borland in New Iberia, Louisiana should be on your list to check out. His pricing is very reasonable. I am driving 3 1/2 hours to go to him but even if I had to fly, it would be totally worth it. As long as you are 30 pounds overweight he will consider you for the surgery. I have a BMI of 31.5 and will be a Self Pay. http://thomasborlandmd.com/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
