  1. Thanks for following me guys! I'm being sleeved on 26/9 so not posting very regularly yet... 3 weeks to go!!!
  2. I've done the same! Username is scottishsleever
  3. The surgery is USD. Flights were $1640 AUD from brisbane to LA and then a return flight to san diego which was a couple of hundred.
  4. Mine is $4250 for VSG including pick up and drop off from san diego Hey! Where in Australia are you?
  5. Hi everyone! I've not been on this as much because I've been using a closed facebook group instead. It's been really good so far. It's called Baritastic Social. Maybe I'll see you on there! My Facebook name is Lynne Dilligaf
  6. I really appreciate all the comments. What you've all said is exactly what I've expected- all completely different experiences! It's good to know the different things I can potentially expect post op. That hop on hop off bus tour is a good idea! I've done them in a few cities and love them. Don't know why I didn't think of that immediately haha. Cheers!!
  7. I'm 26/9 in Tijuana too. Going to Dr Garcia at Tijuana Bariatrics.
  8. Thank you! Yeah I looked at Thailand which is closer but more expensive and not nearly as many reliable reviews. I hope it will all be worth it in the end! I'll not over do it. I just don't want to be stuck in a room for days haha. I understand I won't know until I've had the surgery.
  9. OK thanks for that. I didn't want to be on a long haul flight so soon after surgery so I thought I'd go somewhere for a few days. I fully expect to be exhausted, I was just hoping by some miracle I'll be able to make use of my time lol. Did you have a drain?
  10. Hi folks! I'm having a gastric sleeve performed on 26/09/16, in Tijuana. Just wondering what your first week post op was like. Did you have a drain, and if so for how long? I'm going to San Francisco for a few days before the flight back to Australia. I don't expect to have a huge amount of energy but from your own experience should I expect to be stuck in my hotel for the whole time or would you have been able to walk around and do some gentle sightseeing 3 or 4 days post op? Any advice, hints and tips are much appreciated!
  11. What MD are you using? The one in San Antonio? Sent from my iPhone Im using Dr Garcia at Tijuana Bariatrics.
  12. I've a BMI of 35 and will be self paying in Mexico. Op is in September. I'm having the gastric sleeve done. I agree with what the others said- read up in great detail because only you know what's best for you? Personally for me the sleeve is the better option. No nutritional deficiency etc (as long as I'm careful with my diet).
  13. Great idea! So much so that I've set up an instagram for the same reason! Anyone welcome to follow me Lynne_vsg
  14. I'm having VSG done by Dr Garcia at Tijuana Bariatrics. I've heard some great reviews and I'm happy with how they've dealt with everything so far. I'm having the normal sleeve done but I have seen the single incision VSG on their pricing list.
  15. That's an amazing difference. Wow!! Congratulations!
  16. Amazing! Bet you feel so much better.
  17. I'm having my surgery in Tijuana too, in September. I'll be flying back to brisbane from San Diego which is about 16 hours so I'm interested in the replies you get too. I've a BMI of 35. I hope it is worth it long term for all of us!
  18. I'm paying for mine as well. Will be worth it in the end! I'll fly brisbane to LA and connect to San Diego. They'll collect me from there and take me to Tijuana. To LA is about 16 hours. Still another few hours before I get to Tijuana.
  19. I'm 31, Scottish nurse living in Australia with BMI of 35. I've got VSG booked for 26th September in Tijuana, Mexico. Anyone else in similar situation and want to be sleeve buddies?
  20. So, a wee bit about me. I'm 31, Scottish, but live in Australia now. BMI 35. I Have my VSG booked in for the 26th of September. I'm not planning on telling any friends or family, and I'm going to Tijuana, Mexico to have it done. If anyone would like to buddy up and have someone to chat about what we're going through, please message me! Anyone else in a similar position?
  21. I'm glad others are thinking the same way as me. I wouldn't say I'm a loner but I like to do things my own way. You've strengthened much belief that no one needs to know about it. Thank you. Sent from my SM-G930F using the BariatricPal App
  22. Thank you so much for your replies. I know that if I tell one family member, others will find out. I just think it's my business and no one else's. There's one friend that I might tell at some point, but not until I've had it done. I kind of just want this to be my own journey without anyone watching. Yeah they'll see I've lost weight, but I've lost it in the past ... Just haven't kept it off. I live in a different country to all my friends and family, and I'm having the surgery done in Mexico (I've researched the place thoroughly) so no one will wonder where I am and they'll not see the weight coming off, as I'll not see any of them for a few months. I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't telling people. I just can't be arsed with being known as "the woman that had fat surgery" what people don't know won't hurt them Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Hi everyone! I've recently been cleared for surgery (sleeve gastrectomy) and arranged a date of 26th September. Very excited! I'm 31, have a BMI of 35, and single. I've tried (and failed) to lose weight for the past 16 years. Same story as everyone else - I lose 20 lbs and put 30 back on. I've not told anyone about the surgery, and I don't plan to. I just think that people will think I'm taking the easy way out. No one else in my family has any weight issues, and I know they just think I'm lazy for being so fat. I'm definitely going ahead with the surgery, but wanted to know if anyone else had done it without telling anyone? I just can't be bothered with them judging me!
