    Feeling Ho Hum about surgery

I was like that too. I started the process in July and was excited every step of the way...and then I got my surgery date and I was just "meh". I have to get the surgery, but I'm not so much as excited as I was previously about all this. My surgery is in 2 weeks and I still can't get pumped up about it. I'm not ready for surgery and feeling crappy.

    Psychological Evaluation

They mainly want to make sure you aren't suicidal, have any food disorders or substance abuse.. that kind of thing. My psych asked what I eat on a day to day basis, if I had support from other people, and my mental history. I have major depressive disorder and anxiety so she just got confirmation from my personal psych and I was cleared. Sent from my SCH-I545 using the BariatricPal App

    Looking for someone like me.

Hey there. I'm 22yrs 5'5" and weigh 241 which puts my BMI right at 40. To qualify for surgery my BMI has to stay at 40. They're telling me I cannot lose weight and I should actually gain 1lb to be on the safe side, which is a bummer since I'm wanting to start a lot of these healthy habits before surgery but I'm scared to because I can't lose any weight. Once I get approved from insurance I suppose I'll have a month before surgery to start these habits. Better late than never I guess. Sent from my SCH-I545 using the BariatricPal App

    Does anyone else have Cigna?

Hello! I'm just starting out on WLS too and I have Cigna. I spoke with the coordinator today and she told me since I'm 5'5 and 240 right now, that puts my BMI at 40 which is the bare minimum for surgery without having other conditions. She said since Cigna requires 3 months of supervised diet she told me not to lose any weight or I wouldn't be approved by Cigna. She told me to actually gain at least a pound to be on the safe side lol. From what I've read from others, if you use their physician they'll just prepare you for pre-op stuff at these visits and not so much make you lose weight.
