You need to see her rack. How easy it is to be generous with someone else's rack. Babbs, front and center! You heard her. Whip it out.

Bored with Breakfast! Any dieticians out there?
Stacyrg2, I will gladly explain my response to Bufflehead. You think I am being ridiculous? She was rude to me... She didn't really give much thought to responding to my post that clearly asked the question... If there were any dieticians out there? She made accusations that I was eating to be entertained AND that I trusted strangers more than my dietician. I don't have a problem with eating something other than a traditional breakfast but because there are three meals and Protein requirements in each of them, I need some variety. By the way, I don't like tuna or salmon. I really just want a dietician to tell me that oatmeal and protein bars sold on this website might be an option for someone at my stage, post surgery. I guess I'll email my dietician and hear from her in a few days. Unfortunately, I live Baton Rouge, LA where flood waters surround us. I can't even leave my house and thought that interacting with others would be helpful. Apparently not... My mother always said if you don't have something nice to say...say nothing at all! Maybe the best response would have been to ignore her and you for that matter. But? Not feeling it today. Too many other things weighing on my heart and mind.

Bored with Breakfast! Any dieticians out there?
Bufflehead, are you a dietician? You seem awfully judgmental regarding my post. I was inquiring on the safety of Protein bars being sold on this legitimate Bariatric website AND I asked if there were any dieticians in my headline if you had noticed. I TRUST my surgeon, the dietician, and the PA who is mostly who I see. I don't trust strangers but I am kind and considerate to them. You apparently didn't fully read my post because you are suggesting that I eat salmon and tuna for Breakfast and made the assumption that I eat for entertainment. I don't eat for entertainment, I eat to survive. What in the world is wrong with wanting to do something new with a breakfast that is ho-hum and repetitive?

Bored with Breakfast! Any dieticians out there?
I am in week nine post surgery and really sick of eating eggs, yogurt, and Protein shakes. I still enjoy the fruit. I am craving carbs for the first time and broke down and bought the low carb Protein Bars on this website. Feeling very guilty about it. My dietician said to avoid rice, Pasta, bread, potatoes, and starchy foods altogether for the next six months when my weight loss will most significant. Is this one person's opinion? Can I eat a Protein Bar or oatmeal occassionally if it's in moderation?

Would you do it again?
Yes, I would do it again. I'm only 8 weeks out but I returned to work after two weeks. I'm 54 and that recovery period was enough. Two months will be fantastic. By that time, you will exercising and eating normal...or at least your new normal. Attend support group meetings offered by your hospital. They will give you confidence and reassurance that you are doing the right thing. I did. Good luck!

My own personal nightmare
Sorry to hear about all your surgeries. I guess I have been very fortunate. I hope this is the beginning of a healthier and more enjoyable life for you. The gastric sleeve will give you the start you need to reduce food intake and lose weight. I have been successful in losing 32 lbs in 8 weeks. Sounds like we are about the same age - menopausal, prediabetic, and thyroid issues as well! This has helped me where other diets failed. You literally can not overeat unless you are willing to face the consequences...nausea, acid reflux, and the worse...vomitting! The first phase is the hardest and I'm sure you will be fine once you are past that. I drink and change up my Protein shakes for variety. You should see my collection. I think Chike is my favorite brand - strawberry and the coffee are awesome. I actually have not had much hunger. At 8 weeks I eat three times a day and drink two Protein Shakes in between. I get "head hungry" and want to eat what other people are eating around me but have managed to do well and only cheated a couple of times. I REALLY miss bread, rice, potatoes, and Pasta. Pasta...oh, how I love pasta. But I am determined to lose this! I can't wait to go from obese to overweight and from overweight to normal. Yea buddy! God bless you!

Starting My Journey 5/28/16
Tammylynnwoods, 60 days post surgery and I am doing much better! I take Prilosec daily to address the reflux issues I was having. I've lost 32 lbs which is not bad considering I was a self pay with a lower BMI than most. I went back to work at two weeks. I did just fine. I guess my age made it a little more difficult initially. Surgery changes your life and you adjust.

Anyone with RLS out there?
Qwalla, I can't believe your doctor (assuming not your primary but surgeon) would take you off your RLS meds. I'm not really not sure they do that much good but am scared to NOT take them. How are your legs feeling?

Anyone with RLS out there?
So, I am not taking potassium supplements? Should I? What options are out there?

Anyone with RLS out there?
I'm just curious if anyone with with restless leg syndrome has experienced an increase in leg pain since their WLS. I am 8 weeks post surgery and still taking Requip but the leg irritation seems to start earlier in the day. I had hoped weight loss would put an end to this. I know it's early in the game, my weight loss is good, but not significant yet. I've bought a tens machine, take hot baths at night, use the Requip and apply heat ointment on my legs, taking Vitamin supplements, take Hyland's tablets, and I just don't know what else to do.

Very emotional and need support
I don't give advice but I certainly will pray that you make the right decisions for your family and self. I'm sorry for what you are going through and if you are a believer, the Father will guide you through this. Best wishes on your surgery, your emotional well being, and your family.

Food
My dietician indicated that starches such as potatoes would hinder my weight loss. I was told to say "NO" to rice, Pasta, potatoes, bread etc for six months and after six months to limit them. Did your doctor or dietician give you the okay to eat the potatoes? I'm just curious... Good luck with your weight loss.

Cycles (LADIES)
I'm 54 1/2 and was quite relieved to have finally stopped the monthly cycle. I hadn't had a period in 6-7 months and surprise... 2 weeks post operation I had the worst cramps and bleeding. I hope it is another 6-7 months before it happens again. Lots of things have changed with my body though. Restless legs seem worse, reflux worse, and constipation...ugh. The things we do to be thinner and healthier. I'll accept it.

When is it normal?
I can totally relate to your post! I do not feel normal yet either. I had my surgery June 14th. So I guess I'm in my 7th week? I'm in my fifties and thought my brain would explode trying to keep track of my Fluid intake, my Protein intake, food choices, allowed and not allowed, exercise, and medications... I became dehydrated so I started setting notifications on my phone to remind me of these things. Boy! That was annoying...My cell phone always went off when I walked away from my desk at work! lol Anyhow...I just wanted you to know that you are not alone. BUT...we can do this AND we will feel a new kind of normal at some point?

Glued to this forum
I went to my local hospital Bariatric Support group for three monthly meetings before deciding to have the surgery. It's a good learning place, as are the forums. You may want to ask your doctor if they have support groups too? I have experienced a lot of problems with indigestion, learned that I was lactose intolerant during the liquid diet, and have been dehydrated a couple of times BUT I am convinced that it is well worth it and these were minor inconveniences. I have never lost this much weight in a short period of time on my own. Good luck!

- Just threw up my multivitamin
The doctor's office, hospital, dietician all seem to PUSH the Bariatric brands ONLY. I've tried Celebrate and Bariatric Advantage chewables and they are disgusting and give you indigestion back lash. I'm interested to see that so many are buying over the counter accessible Vitamins like Centrum and Flintstone. Did the doctor approve or are you just winging it? I can't wait till they tell me that I can just swallow tablets.- Need a Sleeve Buddy from Louisiana
Lisat78, Welcome friend! I just have to comment on your comment...about "only" losing 35 lbs! You are doing great. I felt a little discouraged at first too. I went to the Bariatric Support group monthly meetings for three months before scheduling my surgery. Lots of folks talked about their weight loss so my expectations were way up there too. One lady had lost 50 lbs in one month...Whoa! But the facts remain, everyone loses at their own pace, muscle weighs more than fat, if you have more to lose your numbers will be larger, yada...yada... I'm kinda glad that my weight loss has not been so rapid - less saggy skin (hopefully???). Good luck on this journey!- Need a Sleeve Buddy from Louisiana
I'm from Prairieville, LA and had my gastric sleeve surgery on June 14th. I'm down 21 lbs in a month which is not that significant number as those in my support group. I go to Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge once a month...HOWEVER, I guess see the inches disappearing. Two notches on my bra and I'm quite sure I will have to buy new ones soon. I can also see it in my face and neck. My double chin is disappearing. Love these victories. Good luck to all of my Louisiana pals!- First NSV
I've noticed after only one month, that my face appears thinner and my double chin is going away. Yay me!- Hope I'm doing the right thing :)
Marc, I think you are doing the right thing! I'm 54 and did this to prolong life and feel better about myself. I too am a foodie! I have loved food and trying new variations as long as I can remember! My new approach to eating is not going to be entertainment, pleasure, comfort, but survival. I think the limitations of the size of my new stomach will still allow me to be adventurous with food so I'm looking forward to trying healthy foods just LESS of them! Stay positive and God bless!- Hope I'm doing the right thing :)
- Gas Pains
My surgery was on the 14th. The gas pain and bloating was worse than the incisions! After day 3 and a lot of walking, I found relief with my first BM and gas passing easier. Walking and medication are necessary but it will get better. - Just threw up my multivitamin
