  1. Mine was about 3 weeks after surgery
  2. Hiya hun, boy do I understand your frustrations:confused2:. I was banded 4-11-08, got my first fill 5-1-08. I believe the made it 3 or 4cc's. I didn't feel it right away it took a few weeks and then it was like nothing. I could eat everything and anything I wanted, plus could chug Water. Sucked. So I was back to sheer will power to not over eat or act moronic in my food choices. I have a 15month old who feels I should be eating everything he eats which makes it even harder some days. I have a few friends who go this done and they dropped mad weight from the start and here I am busting my butt like always just to lose a lb here and a lb there. Well I finally was able to see my doc and this time they moved me up to 7cc's. OMG its freaking night and day. Though I know I probably shouldn't have but with in days of my first fill I could eat very carefully mind you (i chew till its liquefied) but could eat small bites of chicken. With the new fill I finally understand why we are taught to sip water. Even slim fast is a bit much for me. So I'm hoping that this was not to tight a fill but, wow I think its going to be an awesome tool now that its easier to use being so tight. I'm hoping to be able to eat right and work out to lose some mad weight by Aug 15th.... It'll be my birthday gift to my ex-husband. I'll drop off my son with him and his girlfriend looking so much better and healthier (I like to stir up trouble with him and that harlot when ever I can...hehe... shes small than me now but watch out!!!)
  3. Im a big baby when it comes to needles but to doesnt hurt really. Feels like a sting and then its all done. Had my first fill like 3 weeks after sugery, got the second yesterday. Just mainly weird feeling and a bit uncomfortable for me lol.
  4. Wow, that totally sux. My doc said that most kinda put it off to the side near your wait line but he feels that near the bra or waist line can cause to much pain. He placed mine mid way between my boobs and my belly button in the center so that way I can twist and turn and wear normal clothes with out discomfort. I really hope they move it for you.
  5. I know what you mean, I kept trying to find posts about it and I even tried to work the question into some of my posts. We waited 3 days. Just had to be gentle about it is all. I asked my doctor and he said when ever I felt up to it but even in his pamphlets he gives us he address it just in saying no rough sex for 3 months lol.
  6. Hmmm. Well I had something like that before I got banded a few years ago. They thought that it was a fungal infection but turned out I had an umbilical hernia, I would see a doc asap
  7. Hey there, I was banded April 11th & had that horrible pain between my breast until just a few days ago & still get it every now & again. My doc said it was gas pain. Double check it with your doc though :blushing:
  8. The pain meds aren’t too bad, didn’t get nauseous once from them. But I can totally sympathize with the itchy incisions lol. I have one that drives me completely batty!
  9. Hi ya Trell, I was banded Friday & have been walking & playing with my son & today I have almost no gas pain its great!!! They make a liquid vitamin at GNC called Ultra Mega, its orange flavored, kinda spicy funky flavored but live able. I just got it today because I learned that chewable Flintstones aren’t good enough from a nutritionist lol. Good luck to you dear!
  10. Aren’t we behaving like an ass? ________________ Marissa's Mom, I totally understand where you are coming from. I was banded Friday as well and I am so hungry. I’ve been trying to sip slim-fast for Protein when my stomach really gets to growling good. Sucks though, when my stomach growls really hard it makes it hurt and the incisions hurt too. Keep up with good work with liquids, just think come Friday we can have thicker Soups :huh2: I’m excited! Message me if you wanna talk.
  11. I agree, I would be sleeping alot more to recover if I didnt have my son not sleeping through the night and waking up at the crack of dawn. Its nearing the end of my work day and Im exhausted but feel pretty good.
  12. Congrats!!! I got banded Friday; I know you’ll do great! Wow 9am? I had to be there at 5am lol. I hope the best for you sweetie!
  13. Hey Katiebugs! I wont lie lol, I was banded Friday and (unlike my mom who had it done 2 ½ weeks ago) when I woke in recovery I was crying out in pain, my moms claims that she never remembered the recovery room lol. It defiantly hurt! (I also had a hiatal hernia) But then they gave me morphine and I was so much better. I have been able to move around and every thing just fine. I have a 12month old who is extremely clingy (just us too...well my BF works nights and hasn’t had a day off in 16+ days) and I had to hold him and cuddle with him as soon as I got home lol. I got banded around 7am and I left the hospital at 4pm, made it home around 6pm (traffic sux in Houston) and my son came home around 7pm from my ex-husbands (who only thinks I had a hernia repair, I didn’t want him and his family knowing about the lapband. Especially since he claimed a big part of his affair was my weight). I am taking my liquid vicodine, I honestly wouldn’t have been able to tolerate the pain or recovery and carrying around my son with out it. I am very lucky that I do not have the back and shoulder pain from the air that they pump into you. My chest hurts in the center between my breasts; it gets really tight and feels like I’ve swallowed a pill wrong but after a few seconds it passes. The stitches hurt a bit, but I think that if you take your pain medicine you will be just gravy. I’m a really big baby when it come to pain, though I waited till I was 3cm for the epidural when delivering my son and I do have 2 tattoos but the only reason for the 2nd is because it is my son’s name, Zodiac and birthday hehehe. Hope this helps.
  14. Yeah, it’s crazy how many different things you’ll here regarding what different doctors recommend. Like with mine it’s strictly clear liquids the first week with the exception of sugar free fat free Jell-O and slim fast. 2nd week same with thicker soups 3rd week still lots of liquids but cut all liquids with sugars and calories (ex: Gatorade, milk, juice…) and start on mushies 4th week same as 3rd but increase to more solid foods. He is very adamant on never eating oatmeal because it is too sticky, but we are able to do maltomeal because is thin. I varied from it like not the smartest person in the world because I was hungry so I did some thin mashed potatoes and pudding….BIG mistake for me, I was in so much pain this morning. It went down smooth and I took very small bites and waited in between them… but this morning when I woke I was so nauseous I thought I was going to throw up it was horrible I was in tears. I am sooooo sticking to this from this point forward.
  15. Arm pain maybe from the gas from them pumping us with air to get us banded.
  16. I just got banded this friday the 11th and they also repaired a Hiatal Hernia, and I am currently at work today. I would have liked to have taken a day or two off, but I had a big training for a new ordering system today. Im sore but I'll live.
  17. I was banded friday April 11th, which they also found a hiatal hernia and repaired, and I drove to work today. Was a little uncomfortable but did good.
  18. I feel alot better today, friday was hell and yesterday was rough too. Looks like day by day i'll be doing better, just hungry LOL
  19. mstrina27 Im pretty sore lol. I just laid him down in his crib and that was hard but not too bad, no havent really gotten any answers to my questions. My Doctor allows for lifting up to 50lbs so not sure if your doctor feels the same in regards to lifting your little one too. I ended up having a hiatil hernia (SP?) as well so that sucked. Makes things so much more difficult. LOL
  20. So how is everyone doing today who got banded? Im a little sore but so far so good. Been hard picking up my son but we are managing. My boyfriend was suppose to be home when I got home to help me out but he’s at his parents. Sucks because its difficult and he leaves for work at 10:30pm so I was looking forward to being able to relax and recover while he was around to help me. Had tire issue today though from me hitting a curb yesterday lol, so he took my car to the shop and I don’t get it back to tomorrow, little worried because my carseat is in it and heaven forbid anything were to happen tonight and I can go anywhere. Look forward to hearing how y’all are doing.
  21. Woot! Good Luck Alice150 tomorrow! Im so nervous and excited! Only 4 more days! I start my liquids Thursday... Lets see how chipper I am after a day of no food LOL!
  22. Ok I’m so wicked excited and nervous; I did my pre-work today and am all set to be banded on Friday April 11th! From the mommies out there, how hard was it to move around with the kiddo’s right after? For those whom have never read any of my posts, I’m a single mom with a 12 month old (well I have a boyfriend but he doesn’t live with me and works nights 11pm-7am and is in the police academy from 5pm -9pm. Therefore alone with baby lol) I have tons of goofy questions: 1. Can you feel it? I mean does it interfere with everyday life at first? 2. Of course I just have to know… How long before you can comfortably have sex? My nurse at Dr Spiegel’s clinic said soon as I feel ready but I wanted some real answers. 3. How realistic is it for me to think I’ll be back at my desk on Monday? 4. Are there any tasty protein drinks? My doc will not allow the powder mixes because they can clog the bands opening. 5. How soon did you start losing the weight? I know that it is different for everyone and its about weather or not we really stick to our diets or “New Way of Life” Also about how many lbs a week did you lose? 6. Do you have a hard time working out? I know no heavily lifting or working out for 3 months but what about jogging or the elliptical? I know, I know lots of questions but I’m so beyond excited that I am actually able to get this done especially after not getting insurance to cover it and being turned down for all my loans lol. Thanks bunches for all that respond! -Jess
  23. Thanks everyone for being so wonderful. Sorry to hear yours ran off with another man. Yeah it’s been interesting to say the least and I have to say I’m very blessed to be able to scrimp by and afford my house and car. Sure I have no cable but hell I have electricity, gas and running Water and that’s what really matters. I had no luck getting the loans any where but oddly enough I am so blessed, my ex-husband has been asking me when I was going to get the car out of his name and well… I spoke with Wells Fargo and I was approved to get the car in my name and was able to get $11,000 out of the refinance! Yeah my interest rate is crazy high now on my car lol 15.99% but I only have to deal with my EX about my son and that’s it! And to top it off I have my surgery scheduled for April 11th, I’m so happy and excited and terrified all at one lol. Weight Loss Tickers
  24. So wow, just wow. I was so excited to be approved by my doctor to have the lap band done. It was going to be my fresh start to my new life (what’s left after my ex-husband ran off with another woman leaving with my then 6week old son (who’s now 12months) and now has a house with her up the street from me 5minutes) I was bummed that my insurance wouldn’t cover it but I was still happy to know I was a candidate... I've applied for 5 different loans to get the procedure done and so far 3 have flat out denied me and 1 approved me for $500, wtf? What is $500 going to do for me? I submitted to have it increased and am waiting on the last company to review my request as well... Did anyone else have such a hard time getting you approved? I unfortunately don’t have anyone that can co-sign for me and I just refinanced my home to remove my ex-husbands name from everything so I think that’s causing some pain as well... Anyone have any advice on a company to try? I think at this point I’m going to need to wait a few months to let my credit start building back up after all the hits its have between the 2 different mortgage companies and the 5 loans for the procedure that I've tried.
  25. Self pay… Since my insurance doesn’t cover weight loss assistance I am on my own to find a way to get this taken care of. Any recommendations from those who also had to finance this procedure? I have been thinking about getting a personal loan from my bank in the hopes of getting a low interest rate, I really don’t think I can stomach more than having 8.25% interest. So far I’ve checked intro Health One Financial and they gave me a ball park of what they offered which was 11-22% inertest rate. I about fainted. Any advice? I’m all ears.
