    GERD

Thanks for replying ..wow.. that is 9kgs in 3 weeks..impressive and your reflux is reduced or gone? I know I have to do it but if I can look forward to success with weight loss too that will make me a lot happier. I would hate to have another unsuccssful weight loss surgery.

    GERD

I was sleeved August 2016 and the reflux is so bad now that I have it all the time. It can just come at you like a bus and there is no relief. I just had a gastroscopy and numerous other test for stomach PH including being continually X-ray whilst laying down after eating radioactive porridge... GERD suffers worst nightmare.. porridge and laying flat - for 90- mins!! I have had a lot of acid damage done to my oesophagus with limited relief. The drugs barely help me. So off to see the surgeon again Jan 2 and looks like I will have to convert to RNY. I do not want to do this. However the sleeve did nothing for me. Did not lose a Kilo...I had converted from the lapband to sleeve and I think I could eat more once the band was out as it just made me so sick. So here I am again... almost at Step 1. Has anyone converted from band to sleeve then onto bypass? I am interested to know what the weight loss is like? I do want my gerd fixed, but dammit, I want this weight gone too :-0 Any advise is helpful.... I just feel so sorry for my poor stomach :-(

    Band to VSG or Bypass

Yours is the post I was looking for bear hugs...I had a band 2007 the band revision 2014 the gastric sleeve august 2016. I have lost no weight with it at all and the worst reflux ever..I am really thinking about the bypass but wonder if my stomach has been through enough already. Wondering why you are revising? Sleeve Regrets?

Wow Rhonda Dawson same problem. Can I ask when you had your sleeve done? I feel like getting the bypass but then after 2 lapband revisions, a sleeve and shocking reflux might be best to give my poor stomach a rest!

    Sleeve Regrets?

I had the band 2008. Ok to start with then failed. Revision 2015. Nothing lost at all. Needed to lose 20kgs for a hip replacement operation. So August 2016 had the band removed and sleeve done all in one operation. I have lost about 6kgs only... really amazing when I see stories of others losing 40kgs in a year. My weight loss was all just post op. Then nothing since. I wonder if I wasn't overeating anyway as the band was a beast to get things through...maybe this decision was wrong for me. Seems the sleeve is best for people who ate large portions. I think now I should have gone bypass also it would have eliminated my dreadful reflux. Good luck with your decision. Greetings from Australia... freaking out!

Ok, so I may seem pathetic. However... won't stop me! I was sleeved 20th August, So just over 3 weeks ago. Off to see my surgeon tomorrow. I lost 5 kgs rather quickly , then NOTHING for the last week!! Too bizarre, everyone keeps saying it kicks in and then just comes off, but I have that feeling, as happens with me.... that will be the case with everyone else but not me.. doomed to be fat! Scaring me a bit, to go to this trouble and still be this size.. grrrrrrrrr. Also suffering terribly from acid reflux and nausea, my stomach feels constantly like it is on the verge of food poisoning sort of grumbling and terrible diarrhoea the last 24 hours. Just whinging really, but hoping and praying that one day my stomach will feel normal, not sensitive and high maintenance. Thanks for listening. xxx

    Banana chewed very well?

Silly I know, but just 2 weeks out of beibg sleeved and I am just busting to have mashed banana with Peanut Butter. Being an ex-bander banana -my fave fruit was impossible to eat so it went out the window with other coarse foods like apples and salad!!! Can't wait to be eating REAL food again. It's been years!! Greetings from Australia... freaking out!

I had my first band in 2008 went from 130kgs to 88, i was happy with that, working out heaps I looked fit and was. Then things started to go bad, reflux, acid in mouth, sleeping on 3 pillows, excessive vomiting and not eating extra food. I had band revision to another band 2014. So they moved it down a bit and took the pressure off my oesophagus. I had Barrets oesophagus and gastritis, all from the band! By this time i am stacking on the weight and ended back up at 120kgs. I was very unhappy. But still trying to work with the band to acheive weightloss, but seriously spitting into the wind! Then after carrying what I thought was a bad back after a fall for 18mths I was diagnosed with bone on bone hip and in need of a replacement! I am too young at 54 for this and my weight put me into a higher risk category as well. I now walk with a stick. My surgeon (he is a very good one that I reasearched and want to go with) told me that I have to be under 100kgs before he will operated, that others would do it, but that it is not the right thing. So then I bit the bullet and back to bariatric surgeon for revision to sleeve. I had the band taken out on 20th August 2016 and sleeved in the same op. I am well trained i managing food limitations because of the band, but I get your nervousness, it is a bigger operation than the band with the permanency. I sit her now, 5 days post op, another day of liquids. ..no big deal, been through this before, my biggest worry is that will it work. After all of the complications with the band and limited food etc, why should the sleeve work any better? I know I am raising these concerns at the wrong end of my op, I was desperate, I really need the hip fixed as my priority. I would love to hear success stories of revisons please, thank you.
