  1. Me too! So frustrating because I had it timed perfectly to happen at the beginning of summer break - then my insurance changed their requirements and now I'm scrambling to get it done before school starts in September. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. It's a little ways down on that link. Other good info in there as well Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. I'm working through the guilt of cancelling a long awaited family vacation and losing a ton of money we can't afford to lose because my surgery was scheduled for August 22, right in the middle of the planned vacation and two days from my husbands 50th birthday. (I don't want to put it off because it's already super close to when I have to return to work). I am really improving in my preparation and mindset. Getting used to getting fluids in, watching my Protein intake and learning new ways to cope with life beyond turning to food. I had already done away with straws, soda, gum and caffeine. My win is also my challenge incidentally. Not only did I happen to pick a great man who is supporting me 100% despite losing his vacation, birthday and literally thousands of dollars BUT I am seeing it through despite my tendency to bury my needs under the needs of my family. I am finally taking care of what I need to be happy. Christina, so sorry about your daddy... There are no words. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Cervidae, ironically it was physical therapy after shattering my leg that led me to lose 111 pounds the last time I did it - I am certain you will get right back on track as soon as you are cleared to exercise. Which will also help with the anxiety and mood swings I'm sure Kristen, I'm with you...waiting sucks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Completely unrelated but incidentally this technique is also very effective at getting rid of hiccups.... I quit 8 years ago using chantix but I want a cigarette every single time I see someone smoking. I just have to remember that it would only take one for me to become a smoker again.
  7. Am I missing something. I know I'm a teacher and I tend to lose track of days during the summer but is not today Thursday, July 28? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I'm a teacher and because of an insurance glitch couldn't have surgery scheduled until August 22. I go back September 6 so I'll only be out two weeks. Sucks cause I'm pretty much just hanging around right now... My first week back should be pretty light. 2 pd days, 2 half days then a three day weekend so I'll have 3 weeks before I'm in the thick of it... Hopefully it's enough :/ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I grew up in flushing! Lived there until I was 27. I was actually born in that hospital back when it was Booth Memorial I live in Long Island now - having surgery at Winthrop... Good luck to you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Thank you - he was amazing about cancelling our trip - said my health was the best present... But I've been struggling with feeling bad - keep trying to remind myself that there will be other, presumably better, trips post surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. Thanks For sure. I've already given up so many of those naughty things - but I think I am going to try replacing Breakfast and lunch with Protein shakes until my weigh in August 5... Then I'll have the weekend before I start my pre surgical liquid diet before surgery August 22. I'm so done with people telling me to have a "last meal" I think that is kind of defeatist at this point but I do plan to go to city island for crab legs with my husband August 7. He deserves it since he is wholeheartedly supporting the cancellation of his 50th birthday vacation because my surgery got scheduled the week we were supposed to be away. 14. I really felt like I was the only one.... I've gained like 8 pounds during my supervised diet - my last weigh in is August 5. I'm so stressed trying to take it off and it just won't budge Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. You will be fine . Maybe not tomorrow, or next week, but eventually you will realize that this is truly the best thing you could do for yourself. I honestly believe that - and it is that thought that I rely on when I am scared about the changes we are facing Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  18. I would ask your surgeon to request a peer to peer review. They seem to have good results from what I have heard. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. Any idea why you were denied? I have the same insurance but for NYC employees and my surgeon gave me a date of August 22, pending approval after my 6th weigh in on August 5. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Congratulations! It's going to be fantastic Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I feel like the whole wait for insurance approval/surgery date limbo thing is the worst part of this whole process. Good luck to you. I'll have my fingers crossed that it's a quick, smooth approval Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I hope everyone doesn't leave here. I don't have Facebook but I'd still love the support from my fellow August sleevers. I'm August 22 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I go back September 6 and I am getting sleeved August 22. Absolutely not ideal - I teach pre k in NYC and it's really hands on. However because of insurance I can't get it done before that and I am not willing to wait until next summer. None of our breaks mid year are long enough. The first week we have 2 pd days then two half days then a three day weekend - so I am just hoping for the best. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  25. Just got my date today. August 22.... My family was supposed to be away for my husband's 50th that week so I am trying to see if they can make it earlier - but at this point even if I miss the family vacation I'll be doing this thing Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
