    Plateaus

Hi! I was sleeved August 17, 2016. I have lost a pretty decent amount of weight, but I haven't lost anything in the last two months. Since Thanksgiving, I haven't dropped a single ounce. I am still getting my Protein and Water in every day and staying in a good calorie range. I am active and have really tried to stay on track. I just cannot seem to bust through this plateau. I have an appointment with my doctor next month but I really do not want to go in without a single pound lost! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to break through a plateau? Should I change things up? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Shoe size?

I dropped a shoe size and width. Now I can wear wedges and heels, which I could never do prior to surgery! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hair Issues

Hi, everyone! I was sleeved on August 17th of this year. I'm down 82 pounds as of today. I just started in this really tough phase of hair loss. My doctor said it's normal and will eventually go away. I'm just trying to figure out how to deal with it until it does. I have long wavy hair, but since it has started falling out, it has become ridiculously tangled and hard to manage. I considered getting a few inches cut off to see if that would lighten the load, but I'm not sure. Any veterans out there with some advice? Thanks in advance! 4. I was a hot mess the first two weeks from surgery. Commercials were making me bawl. It gets better. Like others have said, the anesthesia and hormones from your fat really flood your system. It feels almost out of control. I promise it gets better. Just hang in there, day by day. Sometimes you have to go hour by hour or even minute to minute. Thanksgiving

This is my first year as a sleeved participant in Thanksgiving. I am getting nervous about it. I know I am going to want to eat everything, but I don't want to end up in pain. Any tips or tricks? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Looking for August sleevers

I feel the same way! My surgeon suggested to start eating a lot slower and maybe I could learn to "listen" to my body better. Psh, yeah right! I hear it all right. I hear it saying FEED ME one second and you'll die if you eat another bite another second. So it's really hard! I have to do something else when I eat now. I can't just sit down for a meal, I have to have an activity to distract me to force myself to eat slower to try to avoid the pain. Any advice would be helpful! 1.5 weeks post op, feeling down

It is not fun. This part of it really stinks. But hang in there! It will be worth it! This will pass. I tried thinning some cream of chicken Soup and added in unflavored Protein powder. It was like a thanksgiving feast after drinking shakes for days. unjury powder actually makes a chicken soup flavored powder as well. Each day will get better! Protein powders

I could not handle the premiere Protein shakes. They upset my stomach immediately. So I went through several powders and ready made shakes to try to find one I liked and didn't make me ill. I've ended up using Unjury's powder. I have strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate. There are tons of fun flavorful recipes on Pinterest. I use Fairlife fat free milk because it has 12 grams of protein in one cup. My favorite recipe right now is a cup of milk, vanilla powder, and pumpkin spice extract with a little stevia. Tastes like fall but more importantly, it doesn't taste like powder. I have also really liked Isopure's Unflavored Pure whey Protein. I've mixed that in Gatorade Zero, Jello mix, and even Peanut Butter. You really cannot taste it. All of these I ordered through Amazon or purchased at my doctors office. It's really frustrating trying to find one because you want to get protein in. Just keep trying and don't give up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Advice

My surgeon suggested starting with a stool softener, then moving to Miralax. I faced the same problem. Make sure you are drinking as much Water as you can tolerate. It does get better! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. At first, I was really bashful about sharing about the surgery. I kept it a secret, but after a while, I was just so proud of all the hard work I had to tell people! Now I wear it like a badge of honor. I made the decision to change my life and save my life! People have crap to say always, but I want to encourage people to be brave in taking control of their own health. I love talking about it now. Protect yourself. Ultimately, this is about you. If you have family that will not be supportive, don't share. If you have friends who would cheer you on and cheer you up on hard days, share away. Most importantly, don't let it be a source of shame for you. YOU made the awesome decision to change your life. You are putting in all the work. The surgery is a tool to that success. And if you don't have anyone in your life right now you could openly talk about it with, share with us! I will for sure cheer you on. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
