My Gastric Sleeve Pre-OP Requirements
Why would your insurance not approve you for the way you did on your weight loss study? I thought you just had to see a doctor about your weight for several months regardless of how much you lose. Every insurance is probably different in that aspect. Me too! This site has been so helpful!

Day 3 of Pre-OP liquid diet.
I'm still doing fine. I'm not miserable like I expected. I am hungry, but it's tolerable. Am I doing something wrong? I'm eating pure liquids and getting at least 60g of protein every day. Could it be that I'm just lucky? Or could it be that the worst has yet to come? >_<

This is too cool! I'm meeting so many people who are using him. What made you all start using this site? I was just needing a support forum of some sort, and I stumbled upon this site.

My Gastric Sleeve Pre-OP Requirements
Yes I was! I was the short girl with the red t-shirt asking all the questions, lol! I was with my mom. She came with me because she was so against the surgery at first. After we left, she was convinced that I needed it. I think I remember you. We're you with your husband? I think I saw you sitting next to the wall closest to the entrance door of the room. I remember you smiling at me. Congrats on your cardiac clearance! I got my surgery date very soon. They actually got me approved 8 days after that first appointment. I am now on my 3rd day of the liquid diet. So far, it's not as hard as I expected. I'm obviously hungry, but I'm not completely miserable. My surgery date is August 4th. How are you doing?

Day 1 of pre-OP liquid diet
I heard that a lot of people continue with caffeine about 6 months after the surgery. Some only wait 2 months. I think that saying never to drink it again is very extreme.

SO EXCITED!
Congrats! My insurance approved me because of my IIH.

Did anyone else experience this on liquid diet?
Absolutely; especially if you're drinking Protein shakes. They go right through you!

Day 1 of pre-OP liquid diet
Hahaha! I know, right! The caffeine rule for me isn't that strict. They told me to limit it as much as possible, but I'm avoiding it completely since I don't usually have withdrawals from being without it.

Day 1 of pre-OP liquid diet
See, I don't have this problem with caffeine. I drink it all the time, but going without it doesn't bother me. I don't know if it's because I take adderall or what. Did your doctor tell you absolutely no caffeine?

Pre-Op Liquid Diet... Does it get easier?
3 pounds by August 11th should be extremely easy to achieve, especially while on the liquid diet. I'm 90% sure you will lose even more than that. I lost 2 pounds on my first day of the liquid diet. Good luck! And please tell me how it goes. If you're struggling with this liquid diet, send me a message and vent. Venting definitely helps. And I'm more than willing to listen.

Mine was that day!

Band > Sleeve now what?
You only lost 50 pounds in 3 years? That's like 1.5 pounds per month. That seems awfully slow with the sleeve. If you're still eating carbs, then you will not lose weight. You will gain weight if you continue to eat fattening food. Try to focus on things other than food. Eat fiber to feel fuller.

Pre-Op Liquid Diet... Does it get easier?
Hey! I noticed you said that a prescription turned your life upside down and led you to this forum. Was the medication a steroid? I'm asking because, a steroid brought me here, too. They made my knees feel like they were breaking, made my face huge, and made me gain 50 pounds in 3 months. It was awful.

Finally approved!
Good luck to you as well!

Day 1 of pre-OP liquid diet
So far, everything is fine. I don't have a headache, and my stomach isn't hurting as bad as I expected. I am hungry and yes, I do have cravings, but they're manageable. Is this a good sign? Or do the hunger pangs usually come later; like on day 2 and 3? I'm trying to remain positive, but I'm still worried that maybe the hunger pangs will sneak up on me, lol. >_< I've heard many people say that day 1 and 2 are the worst, and that by day 5, the hunger usually completely goes away. This is what I've had so far: Breakfast - 1 Muscle Milk Protein shake (20g protein, 130 calories), 1 Light & Fit Yogurt (70 calories) lunch - 1 Muscle Milk Protein Shake, 1 Light & Fit Yogurt, 1 cup of Cream of chicken Soup (Diluted with Water and spit out the chicken, lol. ) dinner - I haven't had dinner yet, but I plan on drinking another Muscle Milk with a yogurt, and maybe some chicken broth. I may go to bed early so I can avoid the cravings, haha. Good thing I don't get burnt out on things in just a week. So, drinking Muscle Milk and yogurt will be pretty easy, especially since they taste amazing. I've love to hear your experiences. Thank goodness I only have to do this for 1 week. EDIT: I swallowed a few very tiny pieces of chicken when I was eating my cream of chicken soup. Is this ok? Next time I will strain the soup.

Pre-OP Diet
This sounds great! Unfortunately I don't like Snickers (or chocolate and Peanut Butter mixed together), so I'll just use chocolate. 25g of protein is still a lot. I'll make this for my mother, as well. <3

Pre-OP Diet
Today is my first day. I'm drinking Muscle Milk Vanilla Creme with 20g of protein. I actually love the taste. It's definitely not like a vanilla shake from McDonald's, but it tastes pretty good. I'm not as hungry as I expected. I mean, yeah, I feel hungry, but I'm not suffering, haha. I bought the sugar free popsicles too. I haven't tried them yet. Today I'm going to be drinking Protein Shakes, eating cream of chicken soup, light and fit yogurt, and maybe broth for dinner. It doesn't seem that hard. I just dread getting a headache; headaches make me throw up for some reason. So, I bought children's liquid Tylenol just in case. XD Good thing I only have to do this for 1 week.

I'm so hungry! (pre-op diet)
Thank-you sweetie! I was just talking to the surgeon at my support group this evening, and he said the pre-op diet is one of the hardest parts because our stomachs are so stretched out that it's normal not to be satisfied. Oh my Gosh, you sound like me! I suffer from migraines too, and I usually take Excedrin or ibuprofen for me It is killing me not to give in and take one. I'm hoping losing weight helps decrease my migraines in intensity and frequency. When's your surgery? Good luck!! Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App I am just now seeing this response. I don't know why I'm not getting notifications when someone quotes me. Weird. Anyway, you are so welcome! <3 Yeah, my migraines are so bad that they can make me vomit. It's crazy! Why do you have migraines? Mine are from Pseudotumor cerebri. They told me I need to lose weight in order for the condition to go into remission. My surgery is August 4th. I'm so excited!

Pre-OP Diet
Thank you so much for such a sweet reply! I will be eating a lot of yogurt and light Protein shakes for sure. For a moment I thought I could only take in 15 grams of carbs a day, but I think it meant per serving, haha. I was like, "How am I going to survive this?!" XD I LOVE Crystal Light. I actually drink it right now even though I'm not on a diet. The lemonade one is so yummy! This week is going to be hard since my stomach is still big. After my surgery, I assume I won't be as hungry as I am now.

Pre-OP Diet
Thanks for your response! Unfortunately, this is a liquid diet. I will definitely drink broth. I noticed that, in the past, I got so full from drinking the leftover broth from chicken noodle Soup. I think it's definitely the heat that makes me feel fuller.

Pre-OP Diet
I'm starting my pre-OP diet on the 27th and I'm worried about how miserable I'll feel and how hungry I will get. I was given a list and examples of what I could drink. But since I've never dieted this drastically before, I was wondering if anyone here has any advice on the best things to eat/drink when it comes to taste and fullness. I don't want to feel like I'm wasting away on this diet. I'm mostly worried about migraines, because I usually get them when I'm hungry. Cravings won't be much of an issue with me since I usually only crave junk at night; it's the hunger pangs I'm worried about; (the aching pains in the gut). I have to drink 64 fl oz. a day and 60-80 grams of Protein daily. I cannot have more than 15 grams of Carbs. I cannot have more than 5 grams of Fat. I must have 15 grams of protein per 100 calories. I probably won't follow these guidelines 100%, but I want to at least try for 90%. So what kind of things did you all drink on your pre-OP diet? What helped you not feel so hungry? Thanks in advance!

Tackling Depression
At 5 days post-OP, you should already be losing weight. Call your doctor and see if he can see you about this.
