  1. That is a very surprising fact about surgery in mexico. Good luck with it all. Wish u the best Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  2. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yes I would have surgery in any of those cities because they are major us cities with top dr.s and top hospitals. Dr's trained at US hospitals. But like I said I am uniformed (the definition of ignorant) on the subject of tijuana hospitals. I was also surprised to learn not all insurance covers wls. I hope it works out great for her and wish her and you the best in your weight loss journeys. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  3. I had a nerve damaged from gallbladder surgery. I was given a Mersa infection with carpal tunnel surgery. Both done in the US. The research I have done about the TJ medical facilities and doctors showed me they will provide me with higher quality of care than I have received in the US. BariatricPal MX will pick me up at the SD airport and take to the hospital. I will spend 3 nights in the hospital. In the US this is considered out patient surgery. And yes, my insurance will not cover my surgery. That is very surprising to me. Like I said I am uniformed on the subject. I can't believe there are insurances that won't cover. That's ridiculous. I guess I am lucky. Good luck with everything. I hope you achieve all your goals. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  4. Do some insurance flat out not cover wls? Seems so risky to have surgery in Mexico. I am although very uniformed on the subject....but I have been to Tijuana and the last thing I would want there is surgery. Lol.....great food and gentleman's clubs though. ..lol Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  5. Have gotten away from shakes and it went away.....gross Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  6. I am 2 weeks post. I still feel kinda hungry after eating. But I definitely get backed up in my upper torso chest area. Usually when I stop. I just started soft foods so I'm trying to get my protien without shakes. Did it today over 80 grams. Had about six tiny meals today just about all protiens. 7. I'm 12 days post. I believe the liver threat is a scare tactic...it absolutely is a possibility but unlikely that surgery would not be performed or the liver would be knicked. That being said the scare worked on me and I stuck to the pre op diet best I could....couple small cheats. I was fine. More importantly I think sticking to the diet will help you post surgery to deal with your new eating habbits..it's very hard for me. Good luck. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  8. No it doesn't. Nothing stretches the sleeve. The stretchy part of your stomach is gone. It will eventually relax somewhat as the months go by, but it will never stretch out to the size of the old stomach, and you'd have to eat a seriously insane amount of food to hurt your stomach's size (and you'd feel sick and be throwing up way before that happened). Gas build up will not cause the stomach to stretch; it causes burping and a feeling of being very uncomfortable until the gas is absorbed. There are probably hundreds of threads on here discussing drinking alcohol. So you might want to search around to get some older opinions as well. Carbonation (soda and beer both have it) is a hot topic - some can't handle the bubbles after surgery as it makes them very uncomfortable and can cause pain from the trapped gas. And alcohol of all types will hit you MUCH harder since you have little stomach to filter it so drinking can be a bit unnerving after surgery. But mostly, drinking is empty calories and beer especially is very high carb, so it's discouraged. There's a reason they call that spare tire guys get a "beer belly" you know? What did your doctor tell you? Because that's the voice you most want to listen to regarding your own health and well being. Thanks, dr. Advised against it due to carbonation. But I suspect they say that partially because drinking is not great for you. I am not near that point yet but I will probably have a couple socially. ..not often at all.....and see how I do. 10. I'm 2 weeks out and having similar feelings. Stressed about yard work I can't really do right now. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App You can't have pizza after sleeve? Or you just choose not to? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App It's too early for me for grease and carbs in that quantity... I have friends that have had the sleeve and they're fine with eating pizza, and I have sleeved friends that have completely sworn off foods like that. It's up to you as an individual to make that decision. I ended up making a crustless pizza (Canadian bacon on the bottom, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pineapple). Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App I'm 2 weeks post op and already missing pizza. Figured when I'm ready for it a slice would be ok and get the job done. Your recipe sounds delicious I will def try it. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  11. Hi Sean... I'm with you!! I started phase 3 on Thursday. Since I can't have enough Protein with food. I drink my protein for Breakfast. From 8am-12pm I sip my Protein shake. 64 grams of protein and about 17 ounces of liquid. Then I begin my Water. I have the water throughout the day. I have something for lunch usually 4 ounces that I space out in an hour. So far these last 3 days I've had, mashed potatoes, yesterday, refried Beans and today I had cottage cheese. All three were about 6-8 tbsp. I don't know when I'm full yet because I don't know what it feels like. My brain wants to keep eating but I stop myself at 8 tbsp. For dinner I sip on some Soup that I had already prepared during phase 2. This way, I have the full 64 oz of liquids AND my protein. It's so hard to decipher when I'm full because I don't feel it yet. But I do feel that I'm not hungry. I hope this helped a bit. I will be starting my phase 3 in a few days. Do you have to have the beans, eggs, or cottage cheese pureed? one step at a time, one sip at a time, one pound at a time. No I haven't pureed anything. Have not had beans yet. Probably high protien though I will try some. I've had scrambled eggs, chicken salad Finley chopped w light mayo, haddock, zucchini cooked, cottage cheese, string cheese, sliced cheese, a lil deli ham, Peanut Butter. All have been fine. I take small bites and chew till pureed consistency. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

  13. Anyone drink beer after having sleeve? It's way too early for me I'm just a couple weeks post op. I'm not a huge drinker but do enjoy it socially. I like craft brews. Don't really like wine and not really into booze. Hoping to be able to enjoy a few in the future... Anyone? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

  15. Any suggestions for a soft food meal plan? What did you do to make sure to get in your protien? I can have eggs, fish, chicken salad, tuna, soft Cereal, things along those lines. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  16. I just started on soft food. Was so looking forward to it. But it kinda sucks..hard to get enough protien in. Hard to tell when I'm full cuz my belly still wants food but it's kinda stuck. It's very tough....comments? Advice? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

  20. I started on soft foods today thank god. Had some scrambled eggs. String cheese. And chicken salad on a slice of toasted wheat. All seems fine...but my belly doesn't really feel full...actually feels a lil hungry. I did get some pressure and gurgling up higher than belly area. Will the hunger feeling go away eventually? I feel like it could get the best of me.....anyone have any thoughts? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  21. Hey man. Nice work. Any major loose skin issues? I'm a little over a week post op and concerned about chest and lower stomach skin going to be excessive. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  22. I have also come on here looking for answers I couldn't or didn't get from my surgeon. And I think it's not the best idea. I rarely drink soda so it's not an issue for me....thank god, I have enough issues. My best advice is if your looking for a second opinion get one from a dr. Good luck. I hope you achieve your goals.
