In 2013 I had lap band surgery. It was a very difficult process. I lost a lot of weight...at first. Which caused slipping, uncontrollable throwing up and inability to drink even Water. After a year for trying different fill levels I unexpectedly fainted twice. My new Doc suggested i switch to the sleeve. He unfilled me for over 6 months to allow my stomach to heal and prepare for the next surgery. During that time I gained weight back faster than I lost it. On May 18, 2016, he performed the band removal and sleeve. I feel no gas pain nor did I require pain meds after 24 hrs. I did/do feel bloated but walking is helping a lot. I feel great, but can't get the required water and Protein down yet. I've read many great tips here which I will use. I am feeling extremely grateful and look forward to a rewarding journey. 4. Don't forget working out a lot builds muscle which weighs more too. It is normal to drop inches without lbs at times. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

New member here - surgery this Monday

Good luck and smooth sailing to ya! I sleeved on May 18th 2016 and feel great! I was nervous about the same thing...success after is scary, what if... right? But really its a mental game after surgery. Know in advance that no one is perfect. So take some time to figure out triggers and acceltable cheets to get you through. One I heard from a chocolate lover, like me, was to take 1/2 an avocado and add in sugar free hot chocolate mix and some Protein powder then mix, mix, mix and use it as Apple wedge dip. Your brain is satisfied, without the guilt. I am always on the look out for good and creative options so I can simply remove the negativity associated with cheating, and replace it with cleaver satisfying options. I hear that overtime (with discipline) the urges for sweets, chips etc lessen. We shall see one day, one win at a time, pretty exciting! You will do great! How much wardrobe to get in a size

Maxie dresses are great. They work for the long gest time. Just add a belt or sweater when it gets too big, that will buy you an extra month or two. But for sure Ross, Burlington etc are also good for some quick picks. I agree if you find something you love and can get it in the next size down too, do it. I am going to do that to avoid some of the inevitable questions at work. I don't really want to be the topic of discussion daily or feel obligated to explain myself to everyone who says ..wow, what are you doing to lose weight. Is that wrong? 9. I was very nervous when it was getting close. I don't have before and afters yet, but after surgery last week, I feel relaxed and very optimistic. My biggest hurdle was being prepared with what to eat/drink after. I suggest that you start stocking up a bit now. Post-op I could not take the sweet Protein shakes well, so plain that can be mixed into any drink was helpful. Also, you will forget to intake, and you don't want to get dehydration so start putting your self on a strick Water intake schedule now if you can. I suggest 8oz per hour from the first hour you wake up... like first thing, then so on until 2hrs before bed. Good luck! Keep us posted. You can do it!! I was denied, but my doctor requested a driect conversation with the ins company, UHC. After which I was approved. So far the sleeve is working out well for my... in terms of recovery and ability to intake without throwing up. I count all wins no matter how small. I hope you get your approval. Keep me posted... it takes a village =). Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
