  1. It's been 2 months and 3 days since my bypass...some days are better than others. The mental hunger is a lot tougher to get past than I thought it would, and my mind ati hasn't caught up to the small portions I can eat yet. As far as weight loss goes I am down 66 lbs as of this morning but I haven't done my inches yet.
  2. Congrats! You look amazing!!
  3. That's amazing. Congrats to both of you!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. How is everyone doing? This thread has been kind of quiet My surgery date was 9/8, i lost 46 lbs and 17.5 inches in my first month. Most of that, shockingly, was lost in my first two weeks. I definitely have stalled out these past few weeks and have lost and gained the same two lbs over and over. Starting to incorporate some more exercise in and hopefully get over this hump. Still struggling with getting my protein in though unfortunately Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Thanks @@Heather l !!!! Yeah the reaction has been the worst part of recovery but I know it's all worth it in the end!
  6. Just wanted to update everyone. Had my surgery September 8th. My first couple days of recovery were the easiest, unfortunately the past couple days I had a reaction to the surgical glue and my body broke out in itchy hives. So now I'm on steroids and using hydrocortisone cream. I've also had a lot of cramping but that's from not getting enough fluids in so that's something I'm working on. As far as weight loss, I don't know how it is possible but as of today I've lost 38.6 lbs since September 9th (I weighed myself when I got home as they didn't weigh me when I left the hospital)!

  8. @@Angmw82 I know what you mean. Try and explore different ones now because it's even harder to get them in after. I'm really struggling with them now. I loved the premier protein before surgery. Now they taste WAY too sweet so I'm switching back to the powders Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. On post op day two. Came home from the hospital last night. Today woke up a little more sore but I also haven't taken any of my pain pills. Walking helps with pain. The weirdest part is being hungry but not really. I guess this is the head hunger everyone talks about. I couldn't imagine eating right now but when my fiancé eats around me I'm definitely eyeing it haha Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Well I had my surgery today at 7:30. The doctor said it went amazing and I'm telling you the pain is barely existent. I started drinking Clear liquids around 4 o'clock today and I've been walking a lot which definitely helps with the pain. The only downfall is how extremely dry and mouth is been LOL. I guess it's a small price to pay Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Just wanted to wish everyone having surgery this week Good Luck!!! Mine is Thursday, so excited to join the loser's bench
  12. I had my pre-op yesterday...eek! Met with the exercise physiologist which was really interesting, he broke down my body fat and composition and gave you an idea based on your lean body mass what your ideal goal should be, which was a lot more realistic than the stupid BMI chart. Also found out I am only going to be in the hospital one night! That surprised me, but apparently they don't perform the Leak test anymore which is awesome because contrast taste like sh*t lol
  13. I had a really hard time with the powders... I definitely preferred the premade ones like Premier. The powder ones just always tasted chalky or gritty to me, now matter how much i blended them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I think it really depends on the guidelines your nutritionist gave you. I am not allowed any fruits--too much sugar/carbs during my liquid diet phase. With the powder ones I tried a couple different things - in the chocolate Protein Powder I used a little PB2 and cinnamon, and in the vanilla i got some different Mio flavors and added to it. Made it more tolerable, especially the chocolate.

  15. Yeh mine also starts on the 31st iv been drinking a shake for breakfast and loving them getting myself used to them. Try not to cheat your liver needs to shrink and it's always a good idea to start getting used to it. Good luck. Sent from my SM-G901F using the BariatricPal App Definitely suffering from "last supper syndrome" haha but you're right, it's best to get used to it now versus struggling after.
  16. I did not do good on my liquid diet this weekend Weekends are always my downfall, through the work week I do great, then we start going out and doing stuff and I lose all focus and make bad decisions. My pre-op is the 31st, here's to hoping I have lost weight since my last appointment.
  17. I think its completely normal...you spent five years making this decision, so you know its the right one and thats just what you have to keep reminding yourself. Focus on the reasons why you're doing it and the benefits its going to bring. You got this, and we are all going through it with you
  18. yeah, mine was required for 2-3 weeks but I decided to do it earlier because he wanted me to lose a little more weight before surgery as well. its easy to lose 10 lbs a week doing it, its just hard to stick to. For me, i am allowed 1 serving of dairy and a small salad with sugar free dressing. So in the morning I will have a Protein shake (I really like the premier ones), and a yogurt. For lunch I will do Jello, chicken broth, and a Protein shake. Then for dinner I will have a small salad and a protein shake. And for dessert either sugar free jello or sugar free popsicles. Now, there are some days where i know myself and my habits to know well enough that I am gonna binge if i dont eat something. So i will do a lean protein (4 oz, usually fish or chicken) and some veggies. I stay in ketosis the entire time which is good because you lose weight the quickest once in ketosis.
  19. You can do it! Be strict with the liquid diet and the weight will drop off super easily. I lost 16 lbs in one week on it. Its hard to stick to, but to drop weight quickly it does work wonders.
  20. Me too! Congrats! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. Ugh I have to start my liquid diet today and do it all the way to the 9/8. I dont know why my doctor has his patients on it so long but I'm dreading it! I have to force myself with the protein shakes after like the 3rd one. On a side note, my good friend had the DS surgery on Wednesday and she is recovering well. Its nice to be going through it with someone, and know almost exactly what I am in for (Im having the RNY Bypass).
  22. Just an FYI for anyone doing the liquid diet or getting ready to start with it.... I went to costco last night and got three of the 18 packs of the premier Protein shakes. They were on sale for 18.99, which equals roughly $1.05 a shake! They are pretty tasty and i like not having to mix the powder up. My nutritionist approved them because they are five carbs or less (theyre exactly five carbs) and 160 calories a shake. Just thought Id share in case anyone else wanted to try them out...the coupon ends on 8/28, they are normally 24.99 a pack at costco and about $7.50 for a 4 pack at walmart.
  23. Im in the same boat Rachel. Im finding it so difficult to get on the right track right now and i feel worse because of it. Although premier Protein is on sale at costco right now, so Im going to go stock up now and start my liquid diet a little earlier than I was supposed to and hopefully thatll kick my butt into gear
  24. Haha, well with the DS, they shorten your common channel, which means your food doesnt digest as properly as it should, which means that it basically sits there in your stomach acid for up to 24 hours then comes out...which in turns leads to very smelly bathroom visits. My doctor did not shy awya from the details, he said its AWFUL but it is also the most effective form of surgery as far losing excess body weight, with the sleeve he said its about 60-70%, bypass is 70-80%, and the DS is 80-90% of excess body weight. But again, i think it all comes down to what you decide to do with the tool. I've known people who were over 400 lbs and had the sleeve and are not at a very healthy weight, so its definitely possible.
