  1. Ok. I emailed my doctor and this is her response. Every type. Prohibited. There are studies that promote leakage.
  2. I actually have my surgery file. And I found a place where I can go in the states. I'm going to support group tomorrow with them. I actually started drinking protein today at the advice of the new nutritionist. I had to do what was best for me.
  3. How did you do without protein for the first two weeks? This is the first other case where these were the instructions. I was with the surgeon of excellence in a center of excellence as well.
  4. I am 99.9% sure that she meant all Protane including shakes. No I have not had any complications. To be 100% sure I just emailed her again and as soon as she responds with her answer I will update this thread.
  5. No complications at all. I am 99.9% sure that she meant all proteins including shakes because I specifically asked her. But just to be 100% sure I just emailed her again. When she answered I will respond to this email. I thought it was strange too. I asked her where will I get my energy from and she said you'll be surprised the body is amazing
  6. Even if you are on clear liquids, you should still be getting in your Protein. Try Isopure clear, ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates, Syntrax nectar, bone broth, and/or other clear protein supplements. I was allowed Premier Protein during my clear phase. I was told not to use any protein. I have been drinking bone broth though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Kristenle, no there was not a communication barrier. She responded to my email stating The reason why I'm not supposed to drink Protein until week five and this is what she said: it is to prevent leakage because of the consistency of protein.
  8. No. My surgeon administered a leak test right after surgery before he closed me up and then the next day. I was able to drink liquids, including protein supplements before I left the hospital. I was required to get 100 grams of protein a day starting the day after surgery. I was sipping for a while. I cannot imagine that protein shakes could ever cause a leak. According to my surgeon, most post-op leaks are caused by steroid use. That's what I thought but she says hat studies show that many post op leaks are caused by people drinking protein too soon. 9. My surgeon is not allowing me to drink Protein until week 5 because of leakages. I asked her in an email why I can't introduce protein until week five and this is what she says : it is to prevent leakage because of the consistency of protein. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I'm not sure but I just spoke to the hospital here in San Diego who told me to start drinking 30 grams a day immediately. I sent a message to the surgeon office yesterday but haven't heard anything yet. B
  11. No I'm not going to share this plan with her, I'm just going to find another one locally which I'm sure will have a more doable plan!
  12. You're welcome! I think my bariatric team and center and plan really have been excellent. I have had zero problems *knock on wood* (I don't want to jinx myself. LOL) and great results. You could share that plan with your nutritionist and see if she's good with it. But again all centers have their own idea of what's best.
  13. Yes that's what I'm in the process of doing, finding a local surgeon. I asked my medical carrier to put in the referral to one today. That's the plan that I will ultimately go on. Your plan sounds excellent! Wish that was mine! Hopefully my new plan will be similar to yours. Sounds more doable. Thanks for the comment.
  14. Exactly--what he ^^^^ said. Please check before going "off plan". Post and let us know. Will do! Thank you!
