Texarkana Bandsters
Hi Vlynnfog. Of course I don't mind sharing. A gain, maybe not, a loss, heck yea! I am on my 9th day(a.m.) and I have lost 8 pounds. I don't know if I should be losing more or not, but I guess it is my best because I am not cheating. I am having two SFast, and a "garden" salad a day. I drink water, and sf drinks like Crystal Light. I found one that is a Great Value brand and it is cranberry apple. It is my favorite. I have had sf jello twice, when I got so hungry. Not much of a jello eater, but it will do when you can't have anything else. I talked to Ms. Betty this morning and she told me to get some Benefiber and take it. I think I will. Guess when you don't eat you don't go much. I guess I am just getting a little jittery. I just wanted to make sure everything is in order, like making sure about pre-registering, Dr. Keilin doing my surgery, exactly where to go, and blah , blah, blah. I am soooooo ready to get it over and begin my "new" life. A bit dramatic?? Sorry. I am so ready to say "good-bye" to Sfast! Five more days of this then.....I will be a true "Texarkana Banderster!" Yesterday was a hard day for some odd reason but I hope today will be better. Thanks for the support, I need it.

Congrats Donna!!! Glad you found a protien drink. You will be starting your pre-op the 7th, the day of my surgery. I am on day 6 of the pre-op. One week from today will be my last Slimfast, woohoo! I was in T-Town today and was going to go by and see Ms. Betty but I ran out of time. She told me about a fiber to get for after surgery and I have forgotten what it is. Guess I will call her, or run by when I go to do the pre-op registration on Monday. Glad everyone is doing so well. The pre-op diet gets a little better when you can have a small salad once a day. Post-op sounds great after all this. Never thought I would look so forward to broth! lol.

Day six of pre-op. It is getting easier. You all were right. Still don't like it but it is easier. I usuall get in two Slimfast. Now that I can have a salad for one Slimfast(SF) I like the change. Although today I didn't have one. Oh well. One week from Wed. this part will be over. Then......post-op diet. Has to be better than SF!!!!! Take care, and thanks to all of you for your support. I will check back in soon. Keep this thread going, there must be a bunch of us, where is everyone?

February 2007 bandsters!
Hello Carriedba. Welcome. I am one week behind you. Yes, there are many that have gotton cold feet. I have been on several different forums on here and plenty of folks get extremely nervous. Before and after. It is natural. We are getting ready to change our lives, for the better, but still a change. That is forever too. Good for you that you are taking care of business while you are so young and making changes for a healthier you. I have researched this over a year along with other options. This appears to be the safest, and if problems arise for what ever reason it is reversible. Me? I don't have time. I have to get hold of health problems now. Good luck and I hope you hang in there. It has to be your decision.

Kelly, talk with your doctor about that. Seems like you are not getting the nutrition you need. Not enough fat in your diet will cause your hair to fall out too. I did that one time. Are you still having protien drinks?

The pre-op diet is for saftey. It helps shrink your liver. You can inquire about that to a number of threads on here. Many do not require it. But my surgeons office convinced me, I am on the 5th day of pre-op. No picnic, hate it, but I will complete it as directed.

Hi glogirl. Grill chicken, zuchinni!!!!!!! All I can have is Slimfast Optima, sugar free drinks, and as of today I can trade one small salad, (green only,) for one slimfast. Period, for two weeks. My date is the 7th also. You bet it would be good! So big a difference in pre-op diets. Some don't require it at all. Read someones post the other day that had to do liquids for one month! I Better quit complaining, could be worse, huh.:phanvan- February 2007 bandsters!

Hi Silry. I am not sure what point you are at in the process of getting surgery. I am only on the 4th day of pre-op. So you are probably ahead of me. I will have surgery the 7th of Mar. Even though it has only been 4 days without food, I think I am having a better day today. Are you on liquids only? I have been on Slimfast Optima, and sugarfree fatfree liquids. It sucks! I am finding out how addicted to food I really am. Not a pretty picture. I'm not sure about your pre-op and post-op, but I have to do this for two weeks. Then it will be the fifth week after surgery when I can reintroduce solid foods. Have to build up to them slowly. Liquids, then creams, then mushies. I know this is hard for you but I keep seeing all the people that have done it and are glad they did. I want to get there too and I bet you do to. Even though it's only the 4th day, my scale is moving downward. I will never see the amount I saw on there four days ago. Find positive things to look for. I am trying to think what it will be like to get rid of this huge gut that stares me in the face every day. Some have encouraged me to look at the end results. I know that is hard when you think you are starving. Drink all you can to help stave that hunger off. You can do this. My support group keeps telling me its not forever, just keep trudging through one day at a time. I am trying to do some extra cleaning out to keep me extra busy. Trying to take on a project every day. Take care. keep us posted, we care.- Texarkana Bandsters
Vlynnfogg, I love you and don't even know you. You hit the nail on the head when it comes to so many feelings. I was to tears yesterday, my third day. I guess I am having withdrawal symptoms from all the food I have over indulged in for a long time, I was so mad at myself for getting myself in this shape. I have no one to blame but me, and believe me I a lot of that yesterday, and kinda felt that way this morning about 3:00 a.m. when I couldn't sleep. I don't know your husband but he sounds like a wonderful person. Reassure him of that and it will quiet his fears. Why would you leave "wonderful and supportive." You are right about food being a habit. I love good food and a lot of it. I am going to learn to love a small portion of it after this. That is why I decided to get the band, I needed a tool to help me with portion control. Thank you for sharing your most personal feelings with me and others. I have a couple of "eat anything, thin friends," that are supportive but really do not understand what obesity is really all about. They can't. Thanks again for your support. People here are understanding. They truly know about the, Been there done that. I have managed one Slimfast this morning already. Will work on another this afternoon. Nine days left after today.- February 2007 bandsters!
Kelsey, you had all that surgery together!!? No wonder you don't feel well yet. Take it easy and rest. It hasn't been that long for all you had done. Take care.- Texarkana Bandsters
Thanks you guys. I have tried to pep everyone up without knowing how hard this was going to be. I think I have had a slight bug thats been going around too. I thought it was the Slimfast giving me the runs but maybe not. That is a lot better this afternoon. Headach is lessening some too. Tomorrow will be a better day. A decents nights sleep should help too. I have had one Slimfast today and some Crystal Light. I am going to drink another one here in a minute. I am finding out just how much I lived to eat. I will persevere! If it kills me. You guys are a lot of help. My husband is the only one that knows about my surgery right now and of course he is wonderful, but I am really enjoying the support system here. All of you are great. Thanks so much.- February 2007 bandsters!
Any Texarkana, TX Bandsters on here? There is a Texarkana Bandster thread in the Texas Forum. (Dr. Keilin and Heiker are the docs).- February 2007 bandsters!
Hi Tracyinks. I wanted to ask you a question. I remember a person that got banded and then was thinking about having it removed only a week or so after banding. We tried to incourage her to wait it out but I don't know if she did or not. It has been a while since that happened. I felt so sorry for her and at the same time shocked she would consider that after going through all this to get the band. I just can't remember who that was. Seemed like it was in the General forum, not sure. Do you remember?- Texarkana Bandsters
Thanks Blondylocks. I need all the "rootin" I can get. This is only my third day of pre-op. I had one Slimfast this morning. Took me at least an hour to sip it down. Wished I could get the protein and whatever else a different way. This stuff has my stomach torn up. I feel kinda weak too. My husband was sick yesterday, hope I don't get it. I am only going to do two shakes a day after today. They said after the third day you can substitute a garden salad for a Slimfast. Only things grown in the ground can be in the salad along with fat free dressing.I forgot about the vitiman but I will start that today too. Maybe we will see each other at the support meetings after surgery. Where are those held, do you know? I just have to do this...... I will do this.....I can do this.... I am really struggleing. Mabe after the first few days it will get better. Ya think?- Texarkana Bandsters
Tried cappucinno today too. Think I'll pass. Think I'll have some SF jello for a change. Not crazy about it but it might be a welcome change. The Slimfast is all so sweet. I have had a headache all day too, suppose it is just getting used to less food. Anyway, day 2 is almost over. All of you guys did it and are still kicking.......sooooo.....I shall survive! Thanks for all the encouragement!- March 2007 Bandsters
Glogirl, you just hang in there, everything will be fine if you follow the rules of the band. Your friends and family will be amazed when they look at you a few months down the road. MORE importantly, you will amaze yourself. I went back to my surgeon to be office last week with questions about pre-op, the surgery itself, and then post-op diet ect. They answered every question to the fullest. I feel better, much better. I am of course still nervous but I know I need a tool to help me lose weight on a long term basis. I have found out I can't do it on my own. I believe this is the safest long term help that there is. Not that it isn't without risk but obesity is certainly not without risk. I am suffering from some of those right now. I am on the second day of my pre-op diet. It is hard but I know I have to do it for the sake of saftey in surgery. 2 down 12 to go. You hang in there. Just think, we are never see what was on that scale again before we started the pre-op. It is going to be better and better and....... JUST GOTTA DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me too..............- March 2007 Bandsters
Hi Tracyinks. I am on day 2 of pre-op diet. OMG it is hard. At least for me. The Slimfast doesn't keep me from getting hungry. I guess I am going to start drinking more water and crystal light in between. I know what you mean about the last supper thing and tight pants. ugh! It is a good thing I finally got to the pre-op....which sucks... Anyway I know I have to do this for better saftey during surgery. Day after tomorrow I can substitute a garden salad for one SF. I will be glad to have something to chew on!!! haha!! Good luck to you too!!! What kind of pre-op do you have to do?- Texarkana Bandsters
I tried the French vanilla this morning...I'll give it an okay. The milk choc was a litter better. Has to be ice cold!! One day down. Just have to do this one day at a time....I can do this...I can do this.........- South Arkansas
Hello tmiller. I am about to be banded in a couple of weeks by Dr. Keilin also. I went by there (PS) to talk with them a little further. I talked to Betty. She is very nice and very educated about the procedure. I had many questions and she answered every one and very throughly. I feel much better since that visit. Yes, I am definitely nervous. Yes, it is life changing. BUT, so is a stroke, diabetes, knee problem, back problems, and what ever els comes in time with obesity. That is how I have to look at it. I feel like I need this tool to help me. I can't seem to do it alone. Of course this has to be your decision, no one elses. I have decided being fat is harder than this is going to be. Physically, and emotionally for me. I had thought of backing out too, but not now. There is a thread is the Texas forum called Texarkana Bandsters. Come by there and visit I think you will get a lot of support. (or March Bandsters too.) I am not even sure which one I am on now. Anyway, they are very nice at PS and will answer all questions. It is reassuring to get you info from the horses mouth too. Take care. keep us posted- South Arkansas
Dr. Heiker and Dr. Keilin are lap-band surgeons in Texarkana. There is a support group that meets every month there. I will be banded in a couple of weeks by Dr. Keilin, Dr. Heiker assisting. There is also a thread called Texarkana Bandsters. They are all banded by that team. I am doing my pre-op now.- February 2007 bandsters!
Congratulations Kelly!!!!!!!! Take care and do what the doc says, you will be fine. I am two weeks behind you. 2nd day of pre-op. ugh... I keep telling myself, I can do this........... Take care.- March 2007 Bandsters
First day of pre-op. Kinda hard. I have to make it through..........I will make it..........................- Texarkana Bandsters
Thanks Lisa and Vlynnfog. I needed that! Had to go out of town today for most of the day. Took the SF with me. Tried the Strawberries and cream, yuk! Tried the milk choc, better. It's going to be a long two weeks.... BUT I intend to do it or die! Thanks so much for the encouragement. Yes, I know it must have been Hell doing it during the holidays. I'll make it. Just wish there was something other than Slimfast, but I don't suspect anything else would be too much better. Thanks again. - March 2007 Bandsters
