    4 weeks post op!

Today marks 4 weeks post op it has been a roller coaster of emotions, but over all I am SO happy! I can already see a huge difference in my self confidence. I feel great! There are moments when I miss comfort food and start to feel sorry for myself, but I just try to remind myself of my ultimate goal; to be healthy and that junk food isn't worth it! I've gotten sick twice (thrown up), I think from eating too fast, or too much. I'm still learning how much my stomach can handle, how slow to chew/swallow and everything. I'm super nervous about my first dumping, I know it will happen eventually... I just hope it isn't as bad as I'm expecting and that I'm not out in public and poop my pants or something Here is my pre op diet pic (wt 233) night before surgery (221.7) and today-4 weeks post op 201.7) down 20 lbs since surgery. I can really tell a difference in my face! Every time I look in the mirror now I do a double take. And I don't avoid mirrors anymore! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Struggling

4 weeks out too and feel the same way. When can I eat " normal" again! I am sick of only eating Protein shakes and chicken/turkey/tuna. I feel like I don't have ANY variety because I'm trying to get in my protein. By the time I eat my protein serving, I'm full. I'd like some veggies or other food with my meals! I found myself snacking more than I should just so I can get something else in besides meat and shakes. I really need to curb that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Coke zero

I'm 4 weeks out and don't want to try it. I'm scared of anything that might make me sick or uncomfortable. It's happened already when I ate too fast and it's not a feeling I want again! That being said, I've been craving caffeine and soda... We have a soda stream machine so I just pour a little bit of diet soda mix into plain Water and drink it flat. Yesterday my husband was drinking a diet cream soda and it looked amazing! I poured a can into a mason jar and kept it in the fridge overnight. The next day I drank it flat and it was delicious! 4. I'm 4 weeks post op and I just started to add coffee this week. I add about 1-2 tablespoons of sugar free coffee creamer to it. I also make sure I drink it only after I've had my Protein shake in the morning and I make sure I drink plenty of Water throughout the day. I've been having some major constipation issues (sorry, tmi!) and coffee has helped thing pass a little better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I am worried about telling people about the surgery, I guess because the stigma attached to it. Although I know I'm doing what's best for me, I still feel embarrassed. I haven't told my work I'm having surgery, just requested time off. My immediate family knows, but not many other people. my husbands family is fro out of town and they don't know, they are all health/exercise nuts so I'm afraid to tell them. I don't know what to say when people start asking me how I lost all the weight. Anyone else struggling with this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I've been waiting 8 months for the surgery, been on this stupid liquid diet for 8 days already and the doc calls and says we need to postpone the surgery ???? My blood work shows elevated wbc, but I have no signs of infection so they want me to see a hematologist before I have the surgery. I know its better safe than sorry, but it really sucks. I'm betting it'll be AT LEAST another 2 months! Hematology usually takes a few weeks to even get in, then I'll need to do wahatever work up they recommend, then schedule the surgery with the busy surgeon who is always booked!!!! ???????????????????? to say I'm bummed out is an understatement. I was looking forward to being healed by summer so I can go out and do more activities with my kids and be active!
  7. Now this makes me nervous because I have chronic Leukocytosis. My WBC is always between 15-17 Hope this isn't another hoop I have to jump thru! Well I just got back from the hematologist today and it was a total waste of time and a disappointment. Well, in a way I guess. He basically was like, "well, no fever, no symptoms. I can't think of anything else. You could just have a higher than normal count because some research suggest those with extra fat cells sometimes have higher wbc. I'll send a message to your surgeon and tell him I don't see anything out of the ordinary." Well, this is good news because I got my surgery rescheduled today (now it's June 1st), but disappointed because he spent all of three minutes with me to say nothing was wrong. I would have had surgery today!!!

Day 5 of pre-op and I miss food.

I am on day 4 and I'm feeling a lot better today than the first three days! I am at the doctors now waiting for my pre-op physical. May 2 is my surgery date, so I have two full weeks of this diet. Protein shake and cream of wheat for Breakfast, Protein Shake, 1 cup Soup, pudding for lunch, protein shake, 1 cup soup, Jello for dinner and yogurt for bedtime snack. Overall not so bad! 11. I worry about this. It seems like so many of my activities revolve around food. Going out on a date with my husband....out to eat! Celebrating any occasion... Out to eat! Special treat for the kids...out for ice cream! I need to find new activities that don't revolve around food. It makes me sad to give up those things and memories, but I know in the end it will be worth it. I know I will be teaching my kids that they shouldn't rely on food as a reward.
