hope it went good!! I'm still waiting for Dr to call me so I can hopefully schedule mine. They keep putting my off so now others are taking vacation over the summer so for me to get the time off I need I probably won't be able to schedule until the end of July

i'm a little confused....i received my insurance approval letter last week. Went & met w/ the new surgeon today & he asked if I had my PCP letter. I explained that I didn't need this from the other surgeon and insurance has approved. He seemed unsure that my insurance had approved me but I had my letter with me. The patient advocate that was helping me said that it is something they require for the hospital to stay accredited...or something like that. the obstacle is my PCP is out on maternity leave, she is actually a PA so I am scheduled to meet w/ the Dr over her on Thursday....i guess i'm praying he gives me a letter of consent or whatever it is since we don't need it for the insurance approval.

so excited for you!! I just got my approval letter today & calling the new surgeons office tomorrow to set an appointment. I believe I have done everything else they will want from the other surgeon but will find out soon!!

congrats!! I found out today I'm approved but I don't have any dates yet.

I just called the insurance company and they said it was still pending but a nice girl in customer service looked through the notes and they could see that on 4/26 the denial was overturned and it was approved!! I don't have the approval letter but I'm so excited. I hope to get the letter soon!!!

I was thinking of changing surgeons after I'm approved through insurance. The surgeon I was going to use is out of network on my BCBS insurance and is going to require his $3700 up front and then they file my insurance for me & send me the funds when received back from insurance. I found a surgeon in my insurance network so I am figuring this would be more cost effective. Does anyone know if this would be too big of an issue to change after insurance has already approved it?

I also called the customer service number. They gave me the information that it is going through the appeal process. Hopefully we will hear something this week. If not, they have until May 8th to let me know. OHHHHHHH the struggle!!! I'm so impatient wanting to know!!

ok it's going through the appeal process. Not sure why the Dr. sent in the request the first time because they new it would be denied. After my initial consultation a sleep study determined that I did have sleep apnea so it the documentation was re-submitted back to insurance. So now it was sent to the appeals on 4/8 & they have up to 30days to determine. Argh!!!! So frustrating!! I'm like a crazy person just waiting to hear something.

We submitted to insurance on 4/4 to BCBSOK. Should I contact the insurance company to follow up with this request? I emailed the Dr. office to see if they have heard but have not heard back from them. I was just curious if I should call the insurance or just wait. I'm going crazy I just need to know!!

I have BCBSOK & we submitted last Monday. Been a week & I'm going crazy!! Good Luck & I will let ya know when I hear anything. My patient advocate said it takes about 2 weeks.

Just filed with insurance. 35 bmi with sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea is mild but they did prescribe a CPAP. Worried might get denied since isn't severe sleep apnea. Insurance with BCBS OK. Anyone else have this & what was outcome? Sent from my VS990 using the BariatricPal App
