  1. I got sleeved 46 days ago and I've lost 27lbs. I'm super happy! BUT... I can feel an obsession over weighing myself everyday, over analyzing My Fitness Pal and testing my sleeve. Today, for the first time since my surgery, I was able to eat without feeling restriction and I panicked! I went to the movies with my daughter and had a small amount of chocolate raisins. I ate them and expected my sleeve to react, but nothing happened! I had 5 small pieces of nachos, but nothing happened! And then I came home and ate 3 pieces of left over sushi (with rice) and nothing happened! I ate under 850 calories today (which I don't think is a lot), but I'm eating things that I never thought I would be able to eat. I'm feeling hungry more now than ever and I'm not sure what I'm trying to say here... Only that I feel like I cheated when I thought it was impossible to do so and I panicked. Never did I say that the sleeve was to do "my job" but thanks for your enlighten comment... Again... My post was about not feeling restrictions that I used to have before yesterday. The end. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Believe me! I get your precipitation on asking advice or opinion on anything here. There's a lot of douchi people on this forum that just seem to be around just to be douchi! If you can't give any positive or encouraging advice then just shut up! That's the best advice you can give to someone who's going through a rough time or just a rough day. As to your question... I never drank soda pop or carbonating drinks before surgery so I have no advice to give you Good luck and I hope you reach you goal soon! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I cringed on the thought eating nachos and chocolate too! My point was that I didn't think I could eat this things or at least so soon. Not sure why I felt like testing my sleeve, but I did and now I'm moving on. Lol! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Has anyone had esophageal erosion with the sleeve? And if so, how are you treating it and can it be avoided? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Esophageal Erosion

I've never had acid reflux before until I had the sleeve done. I'm 3 weeks out and I've been having really bad heartburn/acid reflux. I want to avoid any serious complications and I DEFINITELY want to avoid having another revision and now for the bypass. The sleeve is as far as I go. I'm hoping it doesn't get to that point:-) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Both are very different and my experience might be different than yours, BUT the restriction feeling is different. With the sleeve, I feel restriction, but without the need of running to the bathroom and throwing up. I'm in the purée/mushy foods so I'm still learning the diet process with the sleeve. In regards to the band, it should be band! I'm surprise there's still surgeons doing that procedure. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Yes! I was mortified that the sleeve wouldn't or won't work because I had the lap band done and that was a nightmare! I'm two weeks post-op and it's been a challenge, but I've seen a HUGE difference between the lap band and the sleeve! You will feel restriction in a way that you can't eat more food even if you wanted to, but you're not running to the ER every time (at least that was my experience with the lap band). I'm not weighing myself either because that would drive me nuts! I'm only doing it once a month. It's forcing me to make better choices and be very aware what goes in my mouth Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I really, really, really hate counting calories! I've tried it before and it's just not for me. I don't like documenting what I eat or using My Fitness Pal because it gets to overwhelming and stressful at times. The one diet that worked for me in the past was a high Protein diet (kinda like the Atkins) and very low carbs. NO CALORIE COUNTING! I got sleeved 11 days ago and I'm trying to plan accordingly for when I'm ready to eat solids. My question is... Has anyone tried something different, other than calorie counting and writing everything you eat, that works? I'm also planning to work out 5 days a week once I heal 100%.

  13. English is my second language so I apologies if my grammar is terrible or if it doesn't make sense. I'll try to keep my post/questions short and simple. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I have NEVER measured food or counted calories since having WLS. I've never even seen a food tracking app like MFP. I felt the same way as you. If I wanted to do all that tracking I would have saved my money and just stayed on weight watchers or some other fad diet. The only numbers I ever bothered with was getting 60-80g of protein and at least 64oz of Water. I can keep a running tally of those in my head. I've basically just been a mindful eater. Protein and veggies first. Moderate fruit and whole grains. "white carbs" in low, infrequent doses, and only after I reached goal. I read labels to help make good choices. I don't count carbs and calories but I am aware of them. I counted calories for a couple days when I was 3 months, 6 months and a year out just out of curiosity. But since passing goal and maintaining for over a year and a half I haven't bothered. I've never had a single clue what my carb or fat intake has been. So yes, it is possible to do it without all the tracking. My feelings exactly! Thank you for sharing
  15. That's awesome! Thank you for sharing
  16. If you don't mind me asking, how much weight have you lost with counting carbs and how much carbs do you eat a day?
  17. My doctor and the majority of the doctors that I've talked to are calorie focus. Which is fine and I understand that is what works for most of their patients. For me, calorie counting and writing everything I eat is a nightmare! It stresses me out so I was curious to see if anyone had a different diet focus that worked for them and gave them the same results or better results. A high Protein diet (Atkins) worked for me in the past, but I wasn't sure if anyone one had tried his approach after having the sleeve done. I'm not a fan of sugar-free products either. I like to eat real foods with no chemicals or ingredients that I can't pronounce I'm opting for an organic, free range, grass fed meats and stay away from chemicals as much as possible.
  18. Yesssss!???? this makes me happy! I would love to know what your diet looks like

Hi Angela! What kind of Cocoa Butter? Brand?
  20. Hi! I had my gastric sleeve done on Tuesday and today was tough! I've been craving solid foods and I feel hungry. I thought that the removal of the hunger hormone (gherlin) was suppose to end that feeling of hunger or craving. I also had a hiatal hernia that got fixed while having the sleeve done. I guess I feel confused and a bit worried that I'm not going to lose weight or stretch my stomach out because I'm feeling hungry. My doctor told me to drink a liter of liquids to avoid dehydration, but it's been difficult to drink that much because I feel restriction. I had the lap band done back in 2010 and had it removed in 2015 because it was a complete nightmare and did not work for me at all! Thanks in advance for any advice Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  23. Hola! I have questions about specific things that I'm sure they have already been asked and answered a zillion times. Does anyone know if there's a search feature on this app so I can look for specific topics? I'm on my phone 99.9% of the time so laptop features don't work for me. Thank you in advance
  24. Oh, ok! Thank you for the heads up!
