For the past 25 years I have had many problems trying to keep my weight down.  I have tried everything from slimfast, phen phen, diet pills, exercise and eating just salads to help control my weight.  Though my arms and legs are pretty much small most of my weight is in my belly and backside.  About 5 years ago I broke my ankle while vacationing in Jamaica, WI and had to fly back to get ORIF surgery that included a metal titanium plate and 7 pins.  This made exercising and walking especially on bad days worse.  Last year I began to get chest pains that lasted over 2 weeks.  I was afraid to go to the hospital but after feeling so bad and weak went.  Thank goodness it wasn't anything to bad but I asked my Cardiologist how she felt about me looking into Bariatric weight lost surgery.  She said she felt I would benefit from it and for me to speak to my primary physician.  I had brought up this subject with my PCP a while back and he encouraged me to try to lose it on my own but this time he agreed.  Since then I have gone to a seminar with my husband to find out what options I had.  Based on the information provided I decided on getting the Gastric Sleeve surgery.  It has been close to 6 months of seeing a nutritionist, psychiatrist, pulmonologist, an endocrinologist and blood tests to finally be approved for surgery.  My surgery is set for Monday, March 28.  I have to start my 2 week liquid diet on March 14 and am scared I will not be able to do it but I am going to make it my business to give it my all.  I am also somewhat anxious about the pain I will experience after surgery.  I have a general idea because I have had a C-Section, Bi-Lateral Ectopic and Hysterectomy surgery in the past.  They all involved the lower portion of my stomach (up down) being cut.  Nervous but ready.
