Short Term Disability
I did not need it with this surgery - but I had a recent hysterectomy and went on short term disability that my work offers. The terms of our policy is you are out more than two weeks. the first two weeks come out of PTO, and then disability kicks in. with the sleeve I only stayed out one week, and then went on 6 hour days for the rest of the month with FMLA.

I was Doing Great Until...
look online, youtube and such for chair exercises. Even if you are sitting and only working your upper body it will help you burn calories and feel positive about what you are doing.

What Is the Biggest Mistake You Made?
I am still in early days, but so far it has been rushing the exercise. I am not really able to eat enough calories on my program to support all I want to do so I am trying to dial it back a bit for now.

Can we have popcorn?
I was allowed a serving of it on occasion after my one month check up.

High Protein Diet vs. Counting Calories?
I don't count calories. occasionally I will do a "reality check" probably once a week, weigh things or measure - and add it all up, but I tend to have a pretty consistent diet and know I am "in range" the thing that blows my mind is that I can only eat a small amount at a time and with all the walking I do, I have to make sure I am eating enough. that is crazy.

One month postop and a very specific milestone
That is WONDERFUL!!! I know how exciting it is. my first milestone was passed this week also (will be official tomorrow) I now weigh less than my husband. You know, even going into the surgery I did not quite believe it would happen as all other attempts had failed me. It is such a surreal feeling to see these things happen. I am celebrating with you!!!

Women....painful sex after WLS?
I don't know that I've ever seen that as a side effect of surgery HOWEVER, there are a lot of crazy hormones post surgery and hormones play a huge effect. Next time have some ky on hand or coconut oil to help things along. I'd say if it was just an issue of dryness that should help make things more normal.

Feeling Unqualified or Ill-Prepared for Surgery
People mean well - it's just hard to see that designation on certain browsers. I felt the same way as the OP and really can't hardly believe it even as the weight is coming off. I think you're completely normal!

Good Place to Start
So far, for me the presurgery process was the most difficult. If only I had known for SURE that it would come out in the end, it would have been easier! When I got the diagnosis of diabetes I went straight to the next initial meeting for surgery - that would have been February 2015. Well, I went through all the hoops but had an elevated WBC, and investigating that issue meant that it was a year until I had surgery in February 2016. What I am trying to say is I know it is discouraging - and I know it is frustrating - I mean I could be at goal now rather than just beginning the weight loss! but hang in there - the results are worth the process. I hope we will soon hear that you are on track with a surgery date.

Pill Cases
I have a large one I picked up at the pharmacy in my grocery store. I take quite a number of supplements and the only way I can is to fill it up on the weekend and have my things with me as I go. it's kind of similar to this one http://www.forgettingthepill.com/products/child-proof-weekly-pill-organizers-item-67804-large

Anyone ever thought:"I can do this on my own, I don't need the sugery"
well, I read a lot and know that almost everyone puts weight back on - but for me the weight was cosmetic so I just kept trying. never really lost more than 25 lbs. when I developed diabetes I viewed the obesity as a medical issue that could have serious consequences down the road. so, went within a month to the surgery consult and although I hit some roadblocks, I never looked back. I feel like this surgery has saved my life.

Guessing a future clothing size problem
I agree with the above. one size down for now. I am in the same boat! In July we will order work uniforms for the NEXT YEAR. I have no idea what size???? well. I am wearing x-large now, so I will order medium and let the x large fall off me until the medium fits. :-)

Any FEBRUARY sleevers?!
It is normal to stall. I have noticed I am just depressed. When I walk it improves for a time. I believe it is the hormones. I am down about 30 pounds since surgery. That's pretty good! I can't remember when my weight was this low and I have to get to a goodwill sale because I am almost walking out of my pants. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sleep study ?
I am sorry - I don't have sleep apnea = but please let us know when the results come in!

Its been a long time coming.
I think the horror stories are incredibly rare. Don't let them scare you. At this appointment they will assess your personal risk based on your health concerns and you will be better able to make decisions after that prognosis and any tests needed. I have 7 children and one grandboy and I realized my weight and comorbidities (diabetes especially) were going to take me away from them too soon. I am excited for this chance to be healthy again. Diabetes is already gone.

I got my labs back today from my checkup!
That is FABULOUS! diabetes was my #1 reason for the surgery!

Regret
Please don't give up. those pea size bites add up, and you will get to where it is not a chore. Have you tried canned chicken or else slow cooker chicken breasts? for me they are more tender and easily handled, especially in the early days.My doctor won't even let me touch chicken for the first 6 months, and white breast meat not until a full year! He said it gets stuck and sometimes they have to scope it out. I'm already sad! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App That would have been very hard for me as breast meat chicken or turkey is one of my go to foods. I hope you find things you enjoy!

Vaporizing Marijuana
I would not expect that it would help with the healing process after surgery. you are going to be putting your body through an awful lot of stress.

What happens if you start puréed diet a day or two early?
it clumps.

What happens if you start puréed diet a day or two early?
you can add Protein powder to soup as long as it is not above 140 degrees. 120 is plenty hot I think/

loose skin
there is an article in this month's Shape magazine (almost at the back) about foods that encourage healthy skin and not saggy. might be worth checking out.

What happens if you start puréed diet a day or two early?
talk to your NUT. my swelling went down quickly and I was ready - spoke to my team and the asked me some questions about symptoms and cleared me to start a few days early.
