Tired of hearing I don't need surgery!
I have 2 comorbidities as well and I'm over 200 lbs at 5'6. That's not healthy but because my weight is carried differently people feel I don't need surgery . 'My PCP is on board so I'm moving forward with this.

Tired of hearing I don't need surgery!
Thank you so much. I kind of felt she was confusing this with gastric bypass but I just let her say her piece. I am not discouraged and I know that this is right thing for me. I will def read your link due to so many people are against me having this. Thank you again.

Tired of hearing I don't need surgery!
Okay, I'm at my PCP getting preop labs and EKG done. The nurse comes in to do everything and says oh you are having surgery & I answered yes. Then she saw what type surgery. She was like you are 222 lbs and you look so great why would you do this. I told her I started way higher at 244 and loss I have now is result of a 90 day dietician consult with diet changes. I said it's not that I can't lose the weight , it's that I can't keep it off. She said you are at risk for clots, stomach leak, taking vitamins rest of your life and not to mention the nausea and diarrhea. I asked her if she had surgery and she said no but I had patients that had gastric sleeve and they have told me. I was like everyone is different and I trust in God and know I will be fine. She was like you don't need it. I wanted to say leave me the heck alone . She is seeing me after 20 lbs gone but didn't see me at 244.@ 5'6 . This is so irritating to me... no one is in support of me doing this . My PCP is on board though so that's good. Just tired of people saying what I don't need. I know my body ... lose 40 pack on 60... story of my life. I'm doing what's best for me. Bad enough my husband just doesn't get it and is totally against me having it. Geez!

Husband not on board with me having the sleeve!
Yes and I am taking control of this life so that I can be happy and live it to its fullest. Thank you so much for your encouragement and you look great as well. Great job. You are 100% right. My ex would have been very happy keeping me unhappy because it was more comfortable for him. Once I lost the weight he became obsessed with all the "what if's" in his head that were not at all based on reality. Hopefully though, since you are thinking about this now, it's something that you can work through maybe through therapy or something. Ultimately, you are only responsible for YOUR happiness and health, not anyone else's.

Husband not on board with me having the sleeve!
Thank you so much. Also I have been there for him through 3 back surgeries in every way possible. It hurts that he isn't gonna be there for me but God will take care of me. quote name="MissJDVSG" post="4325589" timestamp="1479827731"] Even if he is personally against your surgery, he should still be able to go with you as your support. You're married, you've probably been there for him during a hard time, and he should be there for you even if his personal feelings are anti-surgery. But it is your body and your future, and you've got to do it without him if there is no other option. Good luck with everything. It will be worth it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Husband not on board with me having the sleeve!
OMG THAT really resignated in my soul. I didn't keep pursuing it years ago because he didn't want me too and my weight just kept increasing. I really feel like he is happy with me not being happy with me . Sad to say but it's true. He knows that I am going to lose weight and maybe gain attention and so his insecurities are guiding him . But I am gonna do what's best for me and I am having surgery. I have to do what's gonna be best for me and this is it. I can't control how he feels or what outcome may be but I am moving forward and trusting God.

Husband not on board with me having the sleeve!
I agree. So if I have to do this alone.... I will. Just have to find someone to go with me to Texas because I'm in Alabama . I hate that he thinks it's for vanity purposes but again I think that's his insecurities setting in.

Husband not on board with me having the sleeve!
Thank you for the advice... I have sat and talked with him for over 4 years and he just doesn't get it. So if I must walk alone ... I shall walk alone.

Husband not on board with me having the sleeve!
Okay... had a talk with my husband and he is dead set against this whole gastric sleeve mess, as he calls it. It's so frustrating to me because I feel like I have to go in alone. He is not traveling with me to have it because he says he can't get off of work but I really believe it's because he doesn't want me to have it. He says I'm not really big ( 5'6 starting weight 242 is not a small girl) . He says I can lose weight because I have been able to do so with but visits but as I told him I have lost weight plenty of times in the past but it comes back. He feels if I go to gym and workout like crazy. He just doesn't get it and is really making me feel bad about my decisions. I had a friend that died from gastric bypass complications maybe 4 years after she had it. Her liver started to fail and it was due to complication of the bypass. I tell him that I am not having same procedure but he doesn't get it. I have lost weight during nut visits . He is making me feel like I want this surgery for vain reasons and I don't know if it's insecurity rearing it's ugly Head or what. But it hurts that he is not supporting me in this journey. Makes me feel really alone. I want to be healthy and look and feel my best. I'm 38 with a lot of life to live and I want to enjoy the rest of it .... it sucks not having your spouse or partner on board.

calling all December 2016 sleevers!
Me too ... I don't know how to purée food and I'm like can I just buy baby food , lol. But I'm motivated to get to goal. My goal is 145 or 150..either one I will be so happy. My husband doesn't really want me to do this but I have to do this for me.. he says I look just fine but I don't feel just fine and just fine isn't good enough for me I want to look and feel good inside and out. That's a good idea to allow more time to heal before traveling back home. I'm really nervous about the recovery process. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
@LaDivaDev.... thank you so much for the encouragement. I know my anxiety is just of the unknown even though I feel very knowledgeable about the surgery and experiences through reading these forums. I am ready to have it said and done. What's the old saying.... if God can bring you to it he will surely see you through it. I believe that wholeheartedly. Thanks for the encouragement.

Surgery Date and Insurance Approval
I was approved by Cigna within 5 days of submitting . I received my Dec 5 surgery date a couple of days later from my surgeon's office, Dr Clayton Frenzel. I will be traveling to Plano, TX. I live in Alabama but this office has made this process really smooth. I did my psychology Eval and all my dietician visits online, which was approved by insurance. I'm still in shock because Cigna usually turns down everyone at first.

calling all December 2016 sleevers!
My coordinator told me that the weight they use for approval is the starting weight and she advised me to try to lose weight while doing 4 consults just not to gain at all so I did. I'm gonna do a friend request so I will be sure to keep you on my radar quote name="Yardsleever" post="4324197" timestamp="1479696157"] Definitely would love to be sleeve buddies....you had good loss during your visits. I limited my loss so as not to fall below the 40 BMI as I didn't want to give the insurance company any reason to deny. I am hoping that the liquid phase will give me some good loss. Dates here!
Hi everyone I'm new to the group but so proud to be here. My date is Dec 5 with Dr Clayton Frenzel in Arlington , to but my surgery will be at hospital in Plano, TX. I'm so excited yet so nervous as well . I started out weighing242 lbs and I am 5'6.... did my 4 months of dietician visits and I managed now to get down to 223 lbs... I know I have a pre op diet and I'm going to lose more weight with that ... my goal weight is 150 lbs and to wear a size 8 or maybe 6...I want to go into my 40's healthy and happy. I'm 38 now but birthday jan5.. so looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you. This is a great means of support because no one understands the surgery at all. They give you all of these sly insults so I just chose to keep it to myself.
