  2. Hi Everyone, I'm new to this thread...from Bergen County NJ (near paramus). I was banded in April-lost just under 45ish lbs. I'm in an exercising rut...but other than that i haven't had problems with the band. anyone ever get together and whatnot? Jamie
  3. ooh see my post..i'm in need of a mentor too. how is this working? not sure how we all get paired..
  4. I'm not sure how this works and all...i was banded in april and lost 44ish lbs...but sometimes i struggle with "head hunger" and keeping myself motivated. I have not exercised hardly at all..would love to have someone to just talk to about these things. any takers? i'm from nj if that matters. pm me! Jamie
  5. ugh i need help. i'm having a problem with 'head hunger'...it's like after dinner i'm satisfied, but yet i still grab a snack. i noticed i've been like this for a few weeks...any tips on how to talk yourself back? today: b1: chai tea latte with skim. THIS is a major problem i need to stop!!! b2: 3/4 of a package of high fiber oatmeal l: (going to order a salad with grilled chicken. the dressing is fattening though..i'll try to only eat a bit). d: i'm working late so i may have leftovers from last night (a healthy slow cooker meal: tiny white beans with turkey sausage--like a thick soup). OR maybe i'll make a frittata/crustless quiche (i make this every single week with: spinach, onions, a little goat cheese and fresh tomatoes). I will not have a snack. i must not!!! :crying:
  6. today: b: high protein slimfast blended with frozen berries l: (will be) smoked turkey, toasted walnuts, and goat cheese salad with homemade dijon dressing (1 tablespoon dijion, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons evoo, s & p). d: leftovers?? not sure. maybe campbells soup. Depends what my mood is.
  7. UGH horrible experience this morning. i'll share so maybe someone else won't be an idiot like i was:cool: I woke up this morning and without thinking..drove to mcdonalds and got a bacon/egg/chz. yeah. i took one bite and it almost got stuck (now i've never had that happen or ever gotten sick from anything thus far so it was BAD). i closed my eyes and said out loud..plz plz let this go down and i'll never ever eat this again. it did. ahh. just what i needed..i don't know how i could have slipped like that, but i'm right back on track now after that. b: who knows if i'll eat..maybe some oatmeal later l: a salad of some sort d: leftover frittata. yum. s: a "bananna milkshake" (ban., 1/2 cup skim, pure vanilla, 2 splenda and ice). blend. yum.
  8. today, ugh b: chai tea latte with skim b2: i just ordered a bacon/chz omlette with my co-workers. depending on the size, i'll eat half now and half later for lunch l: the other half of breakfast s: (if needed) fruit cup d: a YUMMY crustless quiche/frittata i make with spinach, tomatoes & goat cheese. soooo good. I'll have a small slice. i usually put 2 slices of bacon in this, but won't today since i'm already having it.
  9. thanks bloo! b1: chai tea latte with skim (i'm on a roll this week) b2: oatmeal l: split pea Soup d: going to a fish restaurant so i'll have something from there
  10. what are these parm. meatballs you speak of?? Is the recipe on here? I have a hard time getting my meatballs soft..any tips?
  11. b1: starbucks grande iced chai tea latte with skim :eek:b2: lol quaker cin. & spice oatmeal (eating now) l: not going to be a good day!! co-workers are going to houlihan's to pick up potato soup (with cheese & bacon)..and of course i MUST have a little--which is a good 500 calories for a small cup  d: leftover slow cooker corn chowder (this was really good). All in all i'll still stay in the 1000-1100ish range, but my selections aren't good today. I guess it's better than my craving this morning for a bacon/egg/chz sandwhich from mickey d's :eek:
  12. aw thanks. it was very good too (thank you rachael ray) lol...you know i bet using blue cheese salad dressing would be just as good (and cheaper). i'm obsessed with reading this thread!! i'm sure i'll get fired one day for being on this site too much lol
  13. For what it's worth--I agree. Especially for us newer lb'ers...i always look to see what you, luluc and georgia girl are eating because it's usually good!! lol i love being accountable on a thread where it's ok to do just that--even when i ate ceasar salad 3x last week:rolleyes:
  14. yesterday: b: protein shake with organic pb & 1/2 ban. l: spinach with tomatoes, sf pudding  d: small piece of sausage, spinach, small bit of sweet potato s: shake: 1c milk, 1 ban. vanilla, sf choc syrup, ice. YUM Today: b: organic ff yogurt with pomagranite/vanilla granola l: (will be) some sort of salad from the deli d: corn chowder in the slow cooker (with lean canadian ham, shredded potatoes, carrots, peas, etc)...hope it's good:thumbup:
  15. i remember the first 6-8 weeks and it was hell. i was still hungry and i had to do all the work (not much help from the band). my suggestion would be to write down what you eat (or use dailyplate.com) and change it. i would eat less and just suffer through it because i promise it will get better. a typical day for me then was: b: 1/2 cup yogurt or oatmeal OR Protein Shake with 1 teaspoon Peanut Butter (skim milk) l: tuna, chicken, or egg salad with 2 tablespoons of mayo (1/2 cup)--i ate it without bread OR deli meat rolled up with a piece of cheese d: Protein based meal (1/2 cup total). After 6 weeks i was allowed to eat a cup at a time. Good Luck!
  16. yesterday: b: 4 slices center cut bacon, 1 egg l: slimfast bar s: sugar free pudding d: buffalo sloppy joes s: blackberry sherbert (60 cals, 1 scoop)
  17. I got this from Rachael Ray and it was really good. Very moist and easy to eat. food network doesn't have the recipe posted so i had to wing it based on what i saw on the show... Time: 15 minutes 1lb ground chicken (lean) shredded carrots, big handful celery, finely chopped (handful) 1 onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped blue cheese crumbles, a sprinkle buns (i didn't eat it on a bun, but my husband did) olive oil, 2 tablespoons or so s & p to taste tomato paste, 2 squirts from the tube (or if from a can 2 tablespoons) hot sauce, 1/3 cup whistershire sauce, 1 tablespoon 8 oz tomato sauce brown sugar, 2 tablespoon chicken stock, 3 tablespoons or so heat pan with olive oil and brown chicken. once brown add onions and garlic. Once tender (about 3 minutes) add celery and carrots. season with s & p. meanwhile, combine last 5 ingredients in a bowl and stir until mixed. when celery and carrots are tender add sauce and stir. add tomato paste and stir. let cook for about 5 minutes or so. i ate this with just some blue cheese on top, but if using buns build the sandwhiches and top with cheese.
  18. b: starbucks iced chai tea latte with skim b2: then an hour later i had quaker instant oatmeal l: grilled chicken caesar salad---it's my thing this week:rolleyes2: d: going to outback. i might eat a rib or two and some veggies. not sure yet
  19. b: lc slimfast with 1/2 ban. and 1 tablespoon organic peanut butter l: (will be) grilled chicken ceasar salad  I'm going to eat a small portion, but i'm craving it:ohmy: d: (will be) portabella parm. I grill the mushrooms and then put some skim ricotta (that's mixed with garlic paste and dry seasonings)..then some marinara and part skim mozz on top. Yum. 1 cap is more than enough.
  20. yesterday: b: low carb slim fast with 1/2 banana & 1 teaspoon of organic Peanut Butter l: cream of tomato soup (3/4 cup). it was icky:eek: d: 4 pieces of center cut bacon (100 cal) and 1 egg s: atkins endulge bar. Today: b: low carb slim fast with 1/2 banana & 1 teaspoon of organic peanut butter l: (will be) whatever the deli's soup of the day is (as long as it doesn't have pasta/rice in it). d: (will be) i'm making a crustless quiche/frittata that my hubby and i love with: 2 slices of bacon, whole bag of spinach with onion, in a pie plate mixed with eggs &egg sub. and sliced garden tomatoes on top and a sprinkle of crumbled goat cheese. YUM!
  21. bloo--you should try the mexican meatballs i posted..the trick is using the 85% meat...drain it after you saute..and cook it in a slow cooker. The meat was so tender it fell apart as i ate it.
  22. stayed home sick from work today:frown: b: high protein slim fast with some organic peanut butter, blended l: don't know yet. might go pick up some soup d: i have these turkey sausage links...depending on how i feel i might make some and see how it goes:huh2:
  23. bad bad day today: b: atkins cafe caramel shake l: houlihan's potato Soup (1cup) with cheese and bacon  d: leftovers of something i have at home..undecided.

Thanks everyone. Examples of what to eat...first, i go to the "what did you eat today" thread under food every single day--georgia girl has some awesome ideas. Yesterday i had: B: Atkins protein shake (20g p) blended with some ice. *Note: i know it's not good to drink your food, but i enjoy milkshakes and having this in the mornings makes me feel good...so i do it. On weekend days when i have time to cook i make 3 slices of turkey bacon and 1 scrambled egg. L: I often make tuna salad on a wasa cracker. Or egg salad. Or grilled chicken/shrimp over a green salad. Yesterday i went to my grandmas (she eats "dinner" at 2pm lol) so i had one meatball and a side of broc. In the afternoon i drink Protidiet's concentrated drinks..i LOVE the grape flavor. 70 cals and like 15g of p. D: Yesterday i had a deli sliced turkey rolled up with a laughing cow low fat cheese--about 4oz. If i'm still short of the 70g of p..i'll have another concentrated drink in the pm. Honestly, i don't sweat it as long as i average 70 most of the week. I do the best I can to get to where I need to be and I've learned to stop punishing myself if i don't. The one thing i do avoid is eating foods that could damage my band. For example, today i'm sick and for lunch i got potato soup (1cup) with cheese and bacon. CLEARLY a wrong choice, but it can't hurt me physically--like pasta could potentially. So, i've made a choice that i won't make everyday and i'll make a good choice for dinner. I feel so much better that way and honestly it's easy to stay on this path that way. Hope some of this helps.

So i've been banded for 3 months and i've lost 41.6lbs. I keep losing each week and i've decided to look back in my journal and see what's "making this work." The day i opted to get the band (i'm self pay...even though my insurance would have covered it) i decided i needed to do something. I'm 29, 5'5 and 250lbs (was 292 the day i got banded). I have people all the time ask me what the "secret" is...and i just say that i'm ready. To someone who is in my shoes...you all know what that means...skinny people just nod and stare. So what am i doing? I guess i'm on the non-diet diet. I've realized that i allow myself to eat a lot of things--like crab cakes, tuna salad with real mayo, potato salad at a bbq, etc. Normally, pre-band, i'd eat a mountain of these things and feel guilty the next day (then eat because i would feel like a failure). You probably know how that feels. So how can you lose while eating (basically) what you want? I'm sure all of you are shouting in your heads SMALL PORTIONS. I guess my "secret" is that i make my meal about protein (so i've never had pasta, bread or rice--that includes pizza and such) but i haven't cared so much if it has fat. To date--it's working--and i realize i may need to change that as i get closer to goal. I listen to my body (which is harder than one would think--again--skinny people don't get that)--i try to make decent choices, but i allow myself to enjoy the things i crave as long as they avoid the listed items above (oh and no desserts). For me--it's a good balance between what i crave and the things i have to give up. I can eat enough of the "cheating" things to make me feel like a bowl of pasta is no biggie. For someone else that balance may be different, but i think it's important to find what works and really believe in it. I've noticed that for the first time i stand a little taller and dream a little bigger. I have a very long road ahead of me, but i'm excited to go down that path.
