  1. Hi All, just wondering if anyone is on the newer Ultra Multivitamin capsules from Bariatric Advantage. I am wondering what size they are. It says 3 capsules is the dosage, and they are supposed to be more potent. I am currently taking the "regular" multivitamin capsules, which they tote as smaller, non horsepills. I take 6 of those a day. I don't think I could handle a bigger pill to swallow, as I do have a slight stricture. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks! 2. Hi All, I am 6 weeks out now, and finally able,to tolerate more things. Down 38 pounds since the day of my surgery. I finally had a bit of reduced - fat cheese, or some no-sugar-added peaches. My surgeon told me about Isopure drinks, and thinks they would be a good idea for me. My problem is, it seems you can only buy them by the case, and I'm reading so many mixed reviews. I can't afford to spend $60+ on a drink and then hate it. Has anyone tried them? Some say that some flavors have a yucky aftertaste, too. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Isopure ready-made protein drinks

Crystal Light makes me sick to my stomach now. I've heard Atkins has "water" with 20 grams of Protein and is pretty good. Thinking of trying that... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Stricture

Just wondering if anyone has had one? I am 7 weeks post op, and have had non-stop tummy issues. My surgeon ordered an immediate endoscopy for tomorrow morning to see if that's my problem. I'm told that if that is, indeed, what's going on, they can fix it and I'll feel a lot better. I am hoping that is what's wrong, just to bring an end to my 24-hour constant feeling of fullness and nausea. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Stricture

UPDATE : Had my endoscopy this afternoon. They found an ulcer. So now I have a liquid med to drink an hour before eating and bed. It's supposed to help form a barrier over the wound so it can heal. I pray this works and heals. 7 weeks of feeling constant nausea and discomfort has been enough... Stricture

Constant sour feeling in my pouch, difficulty keeping hydrated due to feeling of fullness all the time. Forcing fluids makes it worse. Protein shakes make me feel sick afterwards. I can handle maybe 6oz of fluid per hour. Have been on Zofran and Reglan- no help.

    Isopure ready-made protein drinks

I have tried all Bariatric Fusion flavors, and have a tub of Orange Cream. My stomach still turns with it. I got the sampler pack of the Nectar as well. Only one I have tolerated well is the vanilla Torte. It rather stinks how slow my recovery has been. Even my surgeon is surprised, but he said there's always 1 who is like me. The last one he had, had her turnaround at 3 months. It was like a snap of the fingers, and she turned around. I hope and hope I do, too. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

What flavor or flavors do you like? I saw many like the Alpine Punch or Blue Raspberry. A bit worried about aftertastes, though. I still have a very strong sense of taste and smell.. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Taste Buds

My RNY was Feb 16. The first thing I noticed was how my sense of smell was greatly heightened. I hate it. I can smell ANYONE'S breath within a few yards of me, and it is horrible. It truly and literally churns my stomach and gives me the heaves. My taste buds have changed as well, and Water tastes yucky. I have tried Propel plain with electrolytes, Polar, and am about to try Fiji. I do like Propel Grape for a flavor, but sometimes I want just plain old water. Crystal Light seems too heavy on taste now. I am also having troubles with Protein. I get nauseous still while drinking. I still only have 1 ounce every 15 minutes. My surgeon suggested GENEPRO, which has 30 grams of protein in 1 tbsp. However, every time I've tried mixing it into a drink, I wound up vomiting later.. I'm supposed to be eating applesauce, and blended Soups, but I'm actually scared to try them, since every time I try adding a new item, I get very sick. I know I can't take new things as quickly as my surgeon's handbook says, as far as the food stages. I obviously have to go slower. This is just so nerve-wracking! Taste Buds

Your pouch could still be swollen from surgery. It takes a while for it to really heal up. Just take your time with eating and drinking. Also if the vomiting doesn't stop and you dind yourself throwing up everytime you eat or drink call your doctor. Too much vomiting will cause you to go into dehydration and malnutrition. And from someone that suffered from both, you want to avoid it at all cost. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App Yes, I think most of me is still swollen. My surgeon wanted to see me after that episode last week. When he was feeling around the outside of my belly, he asked if certain spots were sore, and they were. He said he was surprised they were still tender, so I know I'm not healing as quickly as others. I am taking it slow. He did want me to get iv fluids, as he could even smell that I was dehydrated. My lungs told him. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Taste Buds

I just can't stand the vomiting! Last week Thursday, I was having a great day. Then, all of a sudden, I felt soo nauseous. Wound up running to the bathroom and stayed there for a while. My poor husband felt helpless. My stomach was angry all night. When I spoke to my surgeon the next day, he said I might not have done anything wrong. That worried me. What caused it, if I didn't do it? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Can't sleep

I have been in the same boat. Even when I do fall asleep, I wake every hour. My surgeon suggested Benadryl, the children's liquid, but my stomach does not tolerate it. So, it continues each night.. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Nausea Trouble

I am having a difficult time with nausea. I had my RNY on Feb. 16th. Wednesday was a good day, and I added some V8 juice to my diet. Slowly, 1 Oz at a time. By 9pm, I was in the bathroom, vomiting and very sick. I called my surgeon yesterday, and he asked that I come right in. He "smelled" dehydration from my lungs, and was a bit concerned when he felt my belly around the incisions. He was a bit surprised at how tender I still was. So, he had me wheeled over to the ER for IV fluids and a CT scan. It came back normal, which is great. Today, I started with just cold Water to drink for a few hours, then had a sugar free popsicle. For lunch, I had 3oz of bariatric pal cream of chicken Soup. About an hour ago, I started getting nauseous again, and I'm uneasy. I know I need fluids, but I really don't want to push it and start vomiting again.... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

I only had 1 dose of Reglan. Just enough to let me keep down that nasty stuff you have to drink for the CT scan...

  19. I am a week and a half post op, and experiencing my first cravings: tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots. To drink? Ice-cold fresh Water. I am, of course, still in liquids, but added yogurt this week. I really enjoy the Bariatric Pal Cream of chicken Soup as well. I never craved fresh vegetables before, so I could get used to craving something healthy!! I hope it's still what I crave layer when they are something I can eat.. Super Nose?!

Ok, I really need to know if anyone has experienced any enhanced senses since their surgery. I know this sounds odd, but my sense of smell has gone up dramatically. It began right away! On this past Wednesday, the day after my RNY, I was taken for the upper GI test, where you drink that yucky Fluid while they take pictures to be sure everything is working. The radiologist whom I worked with was a very nice guy, but to me his aftershave was quite strong. Also, when my wheelchair was sitting in the hallway as I waited to be taken back up to my room, I could smell people's lunches in the closed staff room. The woman who returned me to my room reeked of Bath & Body Works lotion, which is something normally pleasant to me, but was so strong. Is this normal? I'm not worried, perse, since it's not debilitating or anything, just a bit baffled... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal

    Super Nose?!

I drove my husband nuts on Friday, my first full day home. I was on the couch, covered with a blanket. I got a whiff of it and immediately threw it off. Same with the pillow under my head. Hubby had to wash all the blankets. When he brought them back to me, he had me "test" sniff them to make sure they were satisfactory. Lol! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Super Nose?!

Omg! I smelled someone's Chinese food in the break room at the hospital, and things I'd also rather not mention...my husband toasted a bagel for himself this morning, and it wafted through the house to me. I didn't normally smell something like that before... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

I found these neat little pill bags at Walgreens, which are able to hold the large chewable Bariatric fusion Vitamins. They also have labels on the outside, so you could write am or pm on them. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal

    Alcohol

I completely agree! It was the same with me. 6 months of nutrition classes, telling you alcohol is prohibited. I am currently 5 days post op and can't fathom drinking tomato Soup yet, much less alcohol. I know no tomato, no citrus right now, and I'm ok with that. Alcohol

I had to sign a contract with my surgeon stating that alcohol is strictly prohibited. Forever. Not for 6 months, or 1 year. Same with pop/ soda. They say you can stir the carbonation out of diet soda months out if you really want soda, but that's about the extent of bending the rules.. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal
