  1. I haven't been banded yet but I heard from someone when he gets "stuck" - he walks around and then he feels better
  2. I have no pre-op diet, I decided to cut out sweets and after 2 days I gained a pound! Now I'm doing Atkins - only been 2 days and I'm too scared to face the scale
  3. I'm expecting mine day of surgery - they said to bring my own pads if I prefer because theirs are huge.
  4. My doctor does not require a pre-op diet but said that if we gain weight, he will not do the surgery. I lost 4 pounds in the begining without dieting before my last appt in July. I got on the scale 3 weeks ago and had gained 11 pounds! I but out all sugar 2 days ago and gained another pound. I meet with the surgeon next week - I am devastated because I'm not running around binging at all and I can't get this weight off - my BMI is a 41-42. My surgery is in 2 weeks -I've been waiting 8 months for this -
  5. So - if you were able to take the plane ride home and go back to work after a few days - then I guess I can keep my nail appointment which is 2 days after surgery. My manicurist doesn't think I can make it but I think I can.
  6. I have Tufts - they made me do the 6 month plan and then approved me with-in 24 hours. Pioneer Valley Surgical in the Springfield Area does alot of lap-bands as well as support group meetings - and they take Tufts
  7. I'm going to be banded by them in a few weeks - I'm scared and excited. Nice to hear the great comments!
  8. Thank you all for your words of encouragement! I think I will still cry while I'm there but oh well -
  9. As I'm sitting here sneezing with my allergies, does anyone know if swallowing the post nasal drip will affect the band? Every time I get a head cold, the post nasal drip gives me an upset stomach. I am not banded yet and am wondering if it will be worse with the band-
  10. At the support group meeting, they told us that they no longer have anyone spend the night but I will find out next week at my pre-op appointment
  11. mine said to stop drinking 30 minutes prior and start 30 minutes after
  12. My surgery is 3 weeks away - I received the surgical instructions in the mail today and began to cry because the thought of having surgery scares me. I have been waiting since January 2008 for this - I'm afraid that on the day of surgery, I'm going to start bawling my eyes out just from fear and I'll be so embarrassed! For those of you that have been succesfully banded, please share your stories with me.
  13. Mine said that wedding rings are the only jewelry allowed.
  14. I heard that the band helps us to "eat to live" not "live to eat'. I will be getting banded in 3 weeks and am hoping for that mindset.
  15. My doctor does not require a pre-op - he said he will not do the surgery if we gain. I was thinking about doing my own 1 week pre-op, replacing 1 or 2 meals with protein shakes.
  16. My doctor does not require a pre-op - he said he will not do the surgery if we gain. I was thinking about doing my own 1 week pre-op, replacing 1 or 2 meals with protein shakes.
  17. I haven't been banded yet but a woman at the support group meeting told us that it it wasn't until her 4th fill that she finally started feeling the band working and then she was successful the rest of the time - she lost 85 pounds.
  18. I live just 15 minutes from the hospital.
  19. I finally completed the Tufts 6 month program and they approved the surgery with-in 24 hours. Now the problem is getting the surgery scheduled - they are so booked up.
  20. Looks like you were one of the lucky ones!
  21. Thanks for all your feedback - there is hope out there that I will be able to return to normal at some point. Surgery is still a month away.
  22. For those of you who are banded - are you able to sleep on your stomach at some point AFTER you recover from surgery or will the port be in the way??? I am one who really sleeps better on my stomach and an worried that those days might soom be over.
  23. I had my first appt back in Feb of 08 - then found out that my insurance makes you wait for 6 months. By the time the paperwork was filed, my 6 months ended on 10/2. Now, they are so busy with these surgeries, they are squeezing me in on 11.19 at a different hospital (same surgeon) because the other hospital is booked through December. Hopefully, now you can see you didn't have it all that bad. I was frustrated MANY times. I still won't believe it until it's actually over with.
  24. My doctor told me to take a week off. So I plan on taking the week off - and if I'm able to be up and about - then I will try to do household chores while I'm hanging around at home.
  25. Tammy - my name is Lori - I'm scheduled the same day as you. We should stay in touch to compare notes.
